The right photography website template is more than a polished grid: it should support how you show work, handle clients, and earn revenue. The available evidence identifies useful platform options and named examples, but does not verify 24 individual templates as a current, available list. This guide therefore compares photography-focused platforms and selection criteria without presenting an unverified 24-item inventory.
What a photography website template needs to do
Start with the work the site must perform, then choose a design that supports it. A portfolio-only site has different requirements from a studio that needs client proofing, appointment requests, print sales, or regular blog posts. Templates are also tied to their website platform: editing tools and business features can matter as much as the template’s appearance.

- Present images well: Check gallery formats, image sizing and cropping, portfolio organization, and mobile layouts. Squarespace describes full-screen slideshows and lightboxes among its photography display options, along with high-resolution uploads and device-specific cropped versions.
- Handle client work: If clients need to review or receive photographs, confirm that the platform supports private galleries, proofing, and delivery in the way your workflow requires.
- Turn visits into inquiries: Look for a clear contact path and, if relevant, appointment or booking support.
- Support sales and publishing: Decide whether you need print sales, a store, or a blog, and verify any current transaction terms before relying on them.
- Fit your working setup: A Lightroom Classic connection, high-volume event delivery, storage, or extensive design control may outweigh a template’s visual style.
Which platforms are worth considering?
These are platform-level options and examples, not a ranked or hands-on-tested list of 24 specific designs. Catalogs and feature availability can change, so check the current template detail page before committing.
Wix: browse by photography specialty
Wix organizes its official photography catalog into Events & Portraits, Commercial & Editorial, and Travel & Documentary. That makes it a useful starting point if you want to browse designs by the kind of photography you make. Wix’s catalog describes an integrated Wix Portfolio app for at least one template; do not assume every design has the same feature set.

Pixpa: portfolio and client workflow together
Pixpa describes its photography templates as including “Portfolio, client galleries, store and blog in every template, made for photographers.” Its catalog reported 61 photography templates when accessed October 8, 2026; that is a vendor-reported count, not an independent market total. Pixpa also advertises full-bleed galleries, client proofing and delivery, and zero commission on print sales. Check its current terms and the specific workflow you need before using those claims to plan a business.

Squarespace: portfolio presentation, appointments, and print sales
Squarespace positions its photography offering around portfolio display, appointment booking, and print sales. Its described presentation options include full-screen slideshows and lightboxes. The Squarespace portfolio catalog returned 25 template matches in a result accessed October 8, 2026; search-result counts can change and do not establish that every match is a photography-specific design.

A May 2026 comparison from Format groups several services by use case: Pixieset for gallery delivery, Format for Lightroom Classic integration, SmugMug for storage, and WordPress.org for design control. It also describes Pixpa as a portfolio, gallery, and store option, and Squarespace as suited to portfolios with booking. These are the comparison publisher’s judgments, not independent test findings, so use them to form a shortlist rather than as a universal ranking.

A July 2026 Site Builder Report roundup covers photography template examples across Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, Webflow, and other platforms, including Slate and Beaumont as Squarespace examples. Treat those names as examples from that roundup, not confirmation that either is currently available or that it meets a particular workflow need.
Match the platform to your photography business
| If your priority is… | Compare… | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Making the photographs the focus | Gallery formats, image size, crops, portfolio organization, and mobile presentation | How the design behaves with your own image dimensions and on a phone |
| Client proofing and delivery | Whether galleries, proofing, and delivery are part of the platform workflow | Privacy, client review steps, and how files are delivered |
| Getting bookings | Appointment support and contact paths | Whether the booking flow suits your services and availability |
| Selling prints | Store and print-sales features | Current commissions, transaction terms, and fulfillment details |
| Keeping an existing production workflow | Lightroom Classic integration, gallery delivery, and studio volume | Whether the connection and capacity fit your exact process |
| Controlling design and functionality | Hosted-builder convenience versus WordPress.org’s self-hosted flexibility | How much setup, maintenance, and plugin responsibility you are willing to take on |
How to choose without getting distracted by the demo
- Write down the site’s essential jobs. For example: show a portfolio, collect booking inquiries, deliver client galleries, or sell prints. Separate must-haves from features you may never use.
- Shortlist platforms before individual designs. A beautiful template is a poor fit if the platform lacks a necessary workflow or makes routine updates difficult.
- Test the design with representative images. Use a range of portrait and landscape photographs, and check crops, gallery navigation, and mobile presentation rather than judging from the demo images alone.
- Follow the business flow end to end. Try the path from viewing a portfolio to contacting you, booking, reviewing a gallery, or making a purchase, depending on what the site needs to support.
- Confirm availability and terms on the current platform page. Catalog results and features may change; verify the exact template, integrations, and commercial terms you intend to rely on.
What the available template counts do—and don’t—tell you
Catalog counts are snapshots, not proof that a set of designs is complete, comparable, or currently available. Pixpa’s catalog reported 61 photography templates on October 8, 2026. Squarespace’s portfolio search returned 25 matches on that date, a broader category result rather than a verified count of photography templates. A May 2026 comparison attributed a claim of more than 100 photography templates each for Squarespace and Wix to Pixpa; it is a secondary-source claim, not an independently checked count.
Those figures are not directly comparable: one is a vendor’s photography-catalog count, one is a portfolio search result, and one is a secondary-source estimate. They do not establish a verified inventory of 24 currently available photography templates.
