Phoenix Cyclops is scheduled to join MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls on November 2, 2026, as the first character in the fighting game’s Year 1 Pass. PlayStation Plus subscribers can start a three-hour Game Trial today, October 7. PlayStation also says the Ultimate Edition is discounted in the game’s first PlayStation Store sale, but its announcement does not state the sale price or when the offer ends.
When does Phoenix Cyclops arrive?
Phoenix Cyclops and two downloadable costumes, named “Classic” and “Legacy,” are scheduled for November 2, 2026. Cyclops is the first DLC character included in the game’s Year 1 Pass. Ray Chase voices him.

What can Phoenix Cyclops do?
Arc System Works producer Takeshi Yamanaka describes Cyclops as an all-rounder with attacks for both distance and close combat. His options include varied Optic Blasts, close strikes, wide-area fire attacks, projectiles, rushes, throws, and setup tools.

Optic Blasts build Phoenix Force energy called Solar Shards. Collecting four shards unlocks Dark Phoenix form, which temporarily increases Cyclops’ power while draining his health. The transformation is therefore a risk-reward mechanic: its boost comes with a cost. These are the developer’s descriptions, not findings from independent playtesting.
Why is this version of Cyclops tied to the Phoenix Force?
Yamanaka says the team considered Cyclops for the Unbreakable X-Men roster, but wanted a version with a different look and fighting style from his established appearances in Marvel fighting games. The narrative team proposed Phoenix Cyclops, drawing on the Phoenix Five story from Avengers vs. X-Men. In the producer’s description, this Cyclops tries to control destructive power to save mutantkind and is willing to take extreme measures.

How to access the PS Plus trial
The three-hour Game Trial starts October 7, 2026. PlayStation’s announcement says it is for PlayStation Plus subscribers but does not specify a subscription tier or regional restrictions. Check the listing in your local PlayStation Store for current eligibility and availability. The three hours are the stated trial duration, not a claim about how long the game takes to complete.

The Store identifies MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls as a PS5 fighting game. Its PlayStation Plus Pack is not the game itself: the Store listing says a separate copy of the game is required to use the pack.
