Who is Phoenix in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls?
Phoenix Cyclops is the first additional Year 1 character announced for the game. Arc System Works producer Takeshi Yamanaka says this version of Scott Summers draws inspiration from his Phoenix Five incarnation in Avengers vs. X-Men, with a look infused by the Phoenix Force. The announcement describes Optic Blasts, strong hand-to-hand abilities, and the Phoenix Force, but does not identify specific moves or explain how those abilities work in a match. Yamanaka says the developers will share more about how the abilities are incorporated into gameplay in a future update. So far, the reveal establishes character inspiration and broad powers—not a move list or a tested way to play him.

What Phoenix Cyclops moves and combos are confirmed?
No Phoenix Cyclops-specific move names, button inputs, combo routes, assist properties, or gameplay role are given in the official sources cited here. In particular, the existence of Optic Blasts does not establish their range, properties, or use in a combo. Avoid treating generic system examples as his routes.

How do teams and defensive options work?
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a 4v4 tag fighter. PlayStation’s announcement says players can focus on mastering one character while teammates provide backup or attack alongside them. That describes the team format; it does not establish whether Phoenix Cyclops is best used as a lead, anchor, assist specialist, or another role. Read the platform announcement.

- Press × to call a teammate for an Assemble Assist.
- With no direction, or while holding →, select the second teammate; ↓ selects the third, and ← selects the fourth.
- Add a direction with L2 to switch to a teammate. After calling an assist, press L2 while the on-screen “Switch?” prompt appears to switch seamlessly.
Use the two counter options
- Assemble Counter: Press □ + × while not guarding. If the opponent attacks during the backstep maneuver, your character automatically counterattacks.
- Crossover: Press □ + × while guarding to call in a teammate and interrupt the opponent.
For basic defense, hold ← to stand guard or ↙ to crouch guard. These are general game mechanics, not Phoenix Cyclops-specific defensive tools.

Which skill input should a new player use?
The beginner’s guide distinguishes between motion-based Command Inputs and Quick Skills, which let you use skills with one button. It says Command Inputs offer slightly higher damage and generate more Skill Gauge, and recommends Quick Skills as an entry point before trying motion inputs as you get comfortable. The guide does not say whether Phoenix Cyclops has any character-specific input exceptions.

The official character reveal does not specify Phoenix Cyclops’s range, mobility, defensive tools, assist utility, meter use, execution demands, or combo-extension potential. Without those details, labeling him a zoner, rushdown character, point, anchor, or preferred partner would be speculation. Once official gameplay details are available, those documented traits will be the useful basis for deciding where he fits on a team.
