The accessible sources do not give a fully consistent illness waiting period. CHOICE lists no waiting period for injury and 28 days for illness. Petcover’s dog-plan page presents different waiting-period figures, while a target-market document dated 12 September 2024 concerns mid-range Core, Vital and Key product wording. These references may reflect different versions or presentations; they should not be silently treated as interchangeable.

Before buying or making assumptions about a claim, ask Petcover which waiting periods apply to the version being offered and verify them in the current PDS and the certificate issued for your pet. Exclusions and condition caps can change the payout
CHOICE’s listing identifies pre-existing conditions as excluded and gives examples of condition-level limits: $5,000 for cancer, $3,000 for cruciate ligament conditions and $4,000 for hip dysplasia. It also notes exclusions or restrictions affecting dental treatment and other care. These are examples, not a complete account of the policy wording; they do not establish that every diagnosis or treatment in a category is covered up to the stated figure.

Read the PDS for definitions, limits and exclusions, then check the certificate for the terms applied to your pet. Petcover says eligibility can depend on the animal’s current health, pre-existing conditions, age and breed, among other factors.
