Pet Circle Pet Insurance: What Dog and Cat Owners Should Know

Pet Circle Insurance is an Australian accident-and-illness policy for dogs and cats. Its dog page advertises up to A$30,000 in annual cover and no sub-limits on eligible vet bills, but the amount you receive depends on your chosen benefit percentage, excess, annual limit and the policy’s exclusions. You pay the vet first and claim reimbursement, so upfront cash flow matters as much as the headline limit.

What does Pet Circle Insurance cover?

The base policy covers eligible costs arising from accidents and illnesses, including treatment and hospitalisation, diagnostics and medication, subject to the policy wording. Pet Circle’s dog-and-puppy page advertises up to A$30,000 of annual cover with no sub-limits on eligible vet bills. The annual cap still applies, and “no sub-limits” does not mean every bill is covered or that the insurer pays the full amount. See Pet Circle’s product information and check the applicable Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

Optional 360° Care can add cover for specified dental illness, behavioural conditions and supportive therapies. It is not a reason to assume routine dental work, preventive care or other everyday costs are included in the base policy; check the add-on wording and your quote.

The insurer’s product page displayed a 4.5 customer rating as of August 2026. This is a snapshot, not an independent measure of claim outcomes.

  • Soft & Durable: Material is easy on tender pet paws while standing up to heavy pet use. Simply vacuum, shake out, or hose off and air dry to clean
  • Based in beautiful Vermont, Evelots has offered Amazon customers unique products for more than 10 years with a 30-day easy return policy.

What affects how much you get back?

The annual cap is only one part of the policy. The quote and Certificate of Insurance set the terms that determine your reimbursement. Check each of these before buying:

  • Benefit percentage: the share of eligible costs reimbursed under your selected terms.
  • Excess: the amount you must bear under the policy. Confirm how it applies and whether it is annual or claim-based in your certificate.
  • Annual limit: the maximum cover selected for the policy year; eligible treatment beyond it is not covered by that limit.
  • Exclusions and waiting periods: conditions, symptoms and treatment that may not qualify, including those affected by timing or prior history.
  • Optional cover: the price and exact scope of 360° Care, if selected.
  • Payment process: whether you can manage the vet invoice before reimbursement.

Pet Circle’s reviewed pages direct customers to obtain a quote rather than publishing a universal premium. Price depends on the pet and selected cover, so compare the quote with alternatives using the same annual limit, benefit percentage, excess, exclusions and payment approach. The product page displayed a first-two-months-free offer and a separate seasonal promotion when accessed; promotions can change and terms may apply, so verify any offer and its conditions before relying on it.

What are the waiting periods and eligibility rules?

Pet Circle’s dog information states that new policies can begin when a pet is six weeks old, with new entry limited to pets aged eight years and 364 days or younger. It says continuous cover may continue without an age limit. The page lists a one-day waiting period for accidents, 14 days for illness and six months for specified conditions. Confirm which periods apply to the pet and cover in the live quote and Certificate of Insurance. Review the dog insurance eligibility information.

Waiting periods are not the only timing issue. The PDS excludes pre-existing symptoms and conditions, and an earlier symptom may matter even if a formal diagnosis comes after the policy starts. An event arising during a waiting period may also be ineligible. Routine and preventive items and desexing are among the exclusions identified on the product page; the PDS also lists other exclusions and restricted treatments.

All Pets Must Be On Leash Due to Insurance Regulations Warning Sign
  • 12x8 inch warning sign provides a noticeable size for displaying leash rules in residential, commercial, and public areas.

Pet Circle says the first claim triggers a full assessment and that exclusions are confirmed on an updated Certificate of Insurance. Disclose your pet’s history accurately. If there has been a prior symptom, a condition affecting both sides of the body, or a condition identified as specified, ask the insurer how it would be treated before assuming a future claim is covered.

What is the claim process?

  1. Pay the veterinary practice. The described process is reimbursement, not point-of-care settlement.
  2. Submit the claim through the customer portal. Upload the paid invoice and clinical notes.
  3. Wait for assessment. Pet Circle says most claims are assessed within five business days and paid into the customer’s bank account. “Most” is not a guaranteed timeframe for an individual claim; complexity and missing documents can affect handling. See the official claims FAQ.

Because you pay the vet before reimbursement, a costly emergency can require substantial funds upfront. The reviewed product information does not establish a direct-billing or GapOnly option, so do not assume one is available.

Can I use my own vet?

Pet Circle says policyholders may use any registered veterinary practice in Australia; it does not describe a preferred-provider network. This is a statement about vet choice, not a guarantee that every treatment will be eligible for reimbursement: the policy terms, exclusions and claim assessment still apply.

Which policy documents should you check?

The official materials identify Pacific International Insurance Pty Ltd as underwriter. They state that The Pet Insurance Company acts under binding authority from Pacific and that Pet Circle is an authorised representative of The Pet Insurance Company. The PDS available in the reviewed materials is version PCI.0524, prepared on 15 May 2024. Check whether a newer version is available before buying.

Read the PDS alongside the Financial Services Guide (FSG), Target Market Determination (TMD), quote and Certificate of Insurance. The certificate and any endorsements set the terms applicable to your policy, including selected limits and confirmed exclusions; a product-page summary is not a substitute.

Who might find it worthwhile?

The headline annual limit and no-sub-limit structure may appeal if you want a larger pool for eligible treatment and understand that reimbursement remains subject to the annual cap and other policy terms. It may be a poor fit if the quote’s price or exclusions do not suit you, or if you cannot comfortably pay a large vet invoice upfront while waiting for reimbursement.

Make the decision using a current quote for your own pet. Compare policies on the annual limit, benefit percentage, excess, sub-limits, waiting periods, pre-existing-condition rules, optional-cover terms and claims payment method. Do not judge value from the annual cap or a review score alone.
