Perth beat South East Melbourne Phoenix 92–88 at RAC Arena on 2 October 2026. A next-day report said coach John Rillie praised his players for moving on after Kristian Doolittle was called for a late disruptive foul. The NBL confirms the result and game context; the specific foul sequence and Rillie’s comments about it come from a separate report.
What happened on the late foul?
With about three minutes remaining and Perth ahead 84–81, Angus Glover intercepted a pass from Kristian Doolittle intended for Dylan Windler, according to the incident report. Glover drove toward the basket, and Doolittle fouled him in an effort to slow him down. The report says officials called it a disruptive foul, awarding Glover two free throws and giving South East Melbourne possession. It also identifies the foul as Doolittle’s fourth. The incident account is the source for those details; the NBL coverage located for the game does not independently describe the sequence.

What did John Rillie say about Perth’s response?
The incident report attributes this assessment to Rillie:
“We’re trying to figure out who we are. We still don’t know who we are, but the way the way we’ve been composed compared to week one is encouraging. Tonight, they got that disruptive foul and previously we’ve reacted a little different to those moments. Tonight we just moved on, went from there, and we finished the game well,” he explained.

“I hope we’re just all understanding what that moment looks like and how reacting (the right way) in certain tones, (has an) impact and influence. I think the group has a level of trust as we fight through this and figure out who we are. We handled ourselves in those moments.”

How Perth won the game
The NBL’s 2 October report and official Game Centre list Perth’s home win over South East Melbourne as 92–88. The NBL report says 11,831 spectators attended, Perth led for almost 33 minutes, and its advantage never exceeded six points. Those figures describe a close contest rather than a game decided by one late call.

NBL.com.au / AAP reported Elijah Pepper scored 25 points, Anthony Dell’Orso and Doolittle scored 22 apiece, and Windler added 14. The league’s 3 October report also lists Doolittle with eight assists and seven rebounds alongside his 22 points. Rillie called the result “a great team win” and said the Wildcats had shown growth after their previous meeting with the Phoenix. The NBL match report and official Game Centre confirm the score; the league’s separate 3 October report with Rillie’s other postgame comments supports the broader team-growth context, not the specific foul quotation.
