Patagonia has moved its Worn Wear resale inventory onto Patagonia.com, so shoppers can put used and new Patagonia products in the same cart and complete one checkout. The change, announced October 14, 2026, replaces the former split experience in which new products and resale stock were sold on separate sites.
What changed on October 14, 2026
Patagonia’s Worn Wear collection is now presented within the main Patagonia.com shopping experience. A customer can select a used jacket, pack or other Worn Wear item, add a new product, and check out from the same cart. Previously, shoppers had to move between Patagonia’s new-product store and a separate Worn Wear resale storefront.

The company says the change is intended to make choosing used gear easier. Worn Wear clothing resale launched in 2017; Patagonia’s FAQ traces the wider program to clothing swaps that began in 2012, so those dates describe different stages of the initiative.

Worn Wear items are used products, but Patagonia says they go through a formal recovery and quality process rather than being listed directly by individual sellers. Employees assess each trade-in for eligibility, authenticity, condition, functionality and cleanliness. The storefront describes the merchandise as professionally laundered, quality-inspected, authenticated, graded for condition and repaired when necessary.

That process does not make every item equivalent to a factory-new product. Condition grades, prior wear and the exact history of an individual garment can vary. The practical distinction is that Patagonia has evaluated and prepared the item for resale, and the company backs Worn Wear products with its Ironclad Guarantee.
What you can buy
Inventory changes as customers trade in gear and other customers purchase it. The current storefront includes used men’s, women’s and kids’ clothing, packs and equipment, plus groupings such as the Down Collection and Prints from the Past.

How Patagonia’s trade-in program works
Customers can submit eligible Patagonia gear for consideration and receive Patagonia merchandise credit when the item qualifies. Patagonia employees determine eligibility and assess authenticity, condition, functionality and cleanliness before the item enters resale inventory.

What the credit can buy
The Worn Wear FAQ says merchandise credits can be used for used gear on WornWear.com or for new products on Patagonia.com and in Patagonia-owned retail stores. Credit therefore works across the company’s new and used channels, subject to Patagonia’s program terms and the specific item’s eligibility.
What happens after acceptance
- Patagonia evaluates the submitted gear against its eligibility and authenticity requirements.
- Accepted items are cleaned and quality-inspected; Patagonia repairs them when needed and assigns a condition grade.
- The item is listed for resale as Worn Wear inventory.
- The customer receives merchandise credit under the trade-in program.
Not every Patagonia product will qualify, and no universal credit amount is published. The value depends on the item and Patagonia’s assessment, so customers should check the current trade-in terms before sending gear.

Is Worn Wear cheaper than buying new?
It can be, but there is no single discount percentage that applies across the collection. Used prices reflect the specific product, condition grade, age and scarcity of the listing. A common current-season item may offer a straightforward saving, while a rare or discontinued style can remain relatively expensive because only one piece is available.
Compare the exact used listing with the new version’s current price, then account for the trade-offs: a used item may be cheaper or offer a discontinued design, while a new item generally provides more sizes, colors and predictable availability.

How large is the program?
Patagonia reported nearly 160,000 items and approximately $13 million in net sales for Worn Wear in fiscal year 2026. The company said more than 230,000 items were processed in the prior year and described an operating team of more than 40 associates in fiscal 2026. Those figures describe Patagonia’s reported program scale, not the number of products available at any one moment.
What to check before ordering a one-of-a-kind item
- Read the individual condition grade and photographs carefully.
- Confirm the listed measurements and size instead of assuming they match current-season sizing.
- Check whether the color or style is an older or discontinued version.
- Compare the used price with the current new equivalent, if one exists.
- Move quickly when the listing is a rare size or color; another buyer can purchase the single available item.
The move to a shared cart removes a major logistical barrier, but it does not make used inventory predictable. New stock remains the better fit when you need a specific size, color or quantity; Worn Wear is more compelling when lower cost, older designs or extending an existing garment’s life matter most.
