The layered Passion armor in Monster Hunter: World – Iceborne was unlocked with VIP Sizzling Spice Tickets. The 2020 guides put the layered set at five of them, and they say you need Iceborne to earn the tickets. Those guides describe the 2020 Sizzling Spice Fest, so read the route below as a historical method. This article does not establish whether that event, or its ticket rewards, is available in the game today.
What the layered Passion armor is
The layered Passion armor is the layered version of the Passion Alpha+ festival armor. It is a cosmetic appearance, so it changes how your hunter looks without adding a separate set of stats that the base armor lacks. The item belongs to the Sizzling Spice Fest, the seasonal event from 2020 that the guides consulted for this article cover.

Two ticket types, two different jobs
The unlock depends on keeping two ticket types apart. Regular Sizzling Spice Tickets are used for the Passion Alpha+ festival armor. VIP Sizzling Spice Tickets are the currency for the layered version. The tickets are not interchangeable, so a stockpile of regular tickets will not complete the layered set.

The unlock route as the 2020 guides describe it
The following sequence combines the guide accounts with a 2020 player-reported thread on r/MonsterHunterWorld. Each step is only as reliable as the source behind it, and the notes below mark which parts are player accounts rather than official documentation.
#1 Best Overall
- Contains both Monster Hunter: World and the Iceborne expansion
- Explore sprawling locales teeming with undiscovered creatures and thriving ecosystems
- Battle fearsome monsters not only to craft new weapons & armor, but also to drive the story forward and uncover the mysteries of the New World and Hoarfrost Reach
- Extensive single-player campaign that also allows drop-in multiplayer; use the SOS Flare to summon other hunters for an assist!
- Use monster materials, as well as items found growing in the wild, to craft new items and gear
- Own the expansion. The Game8 ticket guide states that Monster Hunter: World – Iceborne is required to obtain these tickets.
- Earn regular tickets. The 2020 player thread describes completing limited-time bounties to collect regular Sizzling Spice Tickets. The thread is anecdotal and is not official Capcom documentation.
- Craft Passion Alpha+. Spend regular tickets on the Passion Alpha+ festival armor. This is the base piece the layered version builds on.
- Wear the Passion set on VIP-eligible content. The Hold To Reset ticket guide says wearing Passion armor increases the chance of receiving VIP tickets from quest rewards. The player thread recommends running a Master Rank quest or expedition while wearing it.
- Collect five VIP tickets and craft the layered set. The 2020 event guide gives five VIP tickets as the cost of the layered Passion armor.
How much the Passion armor actually helps
The guides say the Passion set improves your odds of receiving VIP tickets, but none of the consulted sources gives a drop rate, an expected number of runs, or a guaranteed reward. Plan for a variable outcome rather than a fixed timeline. The only firm numbers in these sources are the cost of the layered set and the requirement to own Iceborne.
What you need before you start
- Monster Hunter: World – Iceborne, which the Game8 guide identifies as required for the ticket route.
- Regular Sizzling Spice Tickets for the Passion Alpha+ festival armor.
- Five VIP Sizzling Spice Tickets for the layered version.
- Access to Master Rank quests or expeditions, which the 2020 player thread recommends for VIP ticket attempts.
Is the route still available?
The guides describe the 2020 Sizzling Spice Fest, and the sources reviewed for this article do not confirm a current schedule. Whether the event, the ticket rewards, or the layered armor can be obtained today is therefore unresolved. Before planning around this route, check Capcom’s official Monster Hunter news and the in-game event notices for the current event schedule. If the event is not running, the steps above describe how the armor was unlocked then, not how to unlock it now.
Rank #2
- Monster Hunter World Iceborne Master Edition includes the original Monster Hunter World
- Massive Volume of Content - Iceborne builds on every aspect of World with a wealth of new challenges and surprises
- New Story Introduces Hoarfrost Reach Locale - Picking up the plot from World, hunters will travel to a snow-covered terrain which progressively expands with the story, eventually becoming the largest region in World so far
- New and Returning Monsters - The new locale is home to brand new frigid climate foes as well as returning fan favorites joining the Monster Hunter: World lineup. Leading the pack is the new flagship monster Velkhana, an elder dragon with powerful ice attacks that is a pervasive threat in the new story
- Master Rank difficulty option - A brand-new quest tier above High Rank that makes new and existing monsters more ferocious than ever
