There is no clear winner without knowing your portfolio priorities and checking both stocks’ valuations on the same date. Parker-Hannifin is the more direct fit for investors seeking broad motion-and-control exposure across industrial and aerospace markets. Eaton is the more direct fit for investors focused on electrical power management, infrastructure and electrification. Their latest reported results cover different periods, so the headline growth and margin figures are not a like-for-like contest.
What kind of business would you own?
Parker-Hannifin: motion and control across markets
Parker designs, manufactures and supports motion-and-control technologies for applications that include aerospace and defense, industrial equipment, transportation, off-highway vehicles, energy, and HVAC and refrigeration. Its business spans industrial and aerospace markets, so the investment case is not limited to one infrastructure theme. Parker’s FY2026 Form 10-K provides its current business and risk disclosures.

Eaton: power management and electrical infrastructure
Eaton describes itself as a power-management company serving data centers, utilities, industry, commercial and residential buildings, machine building, aerospace and mobility. Electrification, digitalization, infrastructure investment and data-center demand are among the strategic drivers identified in its 2025 annual report. Aerospace and mobility add exposure beyond electrical infrastructure, although Eaton’s 2026 results reflect a reorganized business structure.
In practical terms, choosing Eaton tilts more toward electrical systems and power demand; choosing Parker tilts more toward engineered motion-and-control products across a wider spread of industrial applications. Neither description means the company is insulated from downturns in its end markets.

How do their latest results compare?
The latest releases available here are not for matching periods: Parker’s figures are for its fiscal year ended June 30, 2026, while Eaton’s are for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026. Read them as separate snapshots, not as a direct performance ranking.
| Measure | Parker-Hannifin | Eaton |
|---|---|---|
| Reporting period | FY2026, year ended June 30, 2026 | Q2 2026, quarter ended June 30, 2026 |
| Sales and growth | $21.5 billion; sales growth of 8.3%; organic sales growth of 6.6% | $8.5 billion; sales growth of 21%, comprising 14% organic growth and a 7% acquisition contribution |
| Segment operating margin | 24.5% reported; 27.3% adjusted, a non-GAAP measure | 23.1% company-reported segment margin for Q2 2026 |
| Cash generation | $4.4 billion operating cash flow, equal to 20.3% of sales | $1.1 billion operating cash flow and $874 million free cash flow |
| Per-share result | $28.48 GAAP EPS; $32.31 adjusted EPS | $3.15 adjusted EPS |
Sources: Parker’s August 6, 2026 results release and Eaton’s July 31, 2026 results release. The margins use company-specific reporting and adjustment conventions; Parker’s adjusted margin is not its GAAP margin. Operating cash flow and free cash flow are also different measures. The table therefore provides context, not a like-for-like ranking.

- Globally interchangeable with other manufacturer's couplings complying to ISO 7241 series B
- Multi-purpose coupling, widely used in varied applications
- Metal valve stop prevents flow checking to provide steady performance
- Brass couplers have double O-rings for redundant sealing and stainless steel locking balls for corrosion resistance
For additional period context, Eaton reported calendar-year FY2025 revenue of $27.4 billion. That figure covers the year ended December 31, 2025, and should not be directly compared with Parker’s fiscal-year sales above. Eaton’s FY2025 annual report lists Electrical Americas net sales of $13.276 billion and a 29.9% operating margin, Electrical Global sales of $6.815 billion and a 19.4% margin, and Aerospace sales of $4.249 billion and a 23.9% margin. Those figures predate Eaton’s 2026 segment reorganization, so they are historical context rather than a map of its current reporting segments.
Where could future growth come from?
Parker: industrial recovery and aerospace demand
Parker’s FY2026 organic growth was 6.6%, separate from its 8.3% total sales growth. The difference matters: total growth includes effects beyond organic sales, while organic growth helps show underlying demand without treating acquisitions as internally generated expansion. CEO Jenny Parmentier said in the August 6, 2026 release that Parker was forecasting a record FY2027, supported by a broadening industrial recovery and positive organic growth across market verticals. That is management’s forecast, not a guaranteed outcome.

- Globally interchangeable with other manufacturer's couplings complying to ISO 7241 series B
- Multi-purpose coupling, widely used in varied applications
- Steel nipples have a hardened body for strength and durability
- Metal valve stop prevents flow checking to provide steady performance
Parker also reported returning nearly $2 billion to shareholders through repurchases and dividends during FY2026 and raising its annual dividend 11% for that fiscal year. These are completed capital-allocation actions, not a promise of future shareholder returns.
Eaton: electrical demand, orders and an acquisition boost
Eaton’s Q2 2026 sales growth included both 14% organic growth and a 7% contribution from acquisitions. That distinction helps explain the reported 21% increase without assuming the full rate came from existing operations. Eaton raised its FY2026 organic-growth guidance to 11–13% and adjusted-EPS guidance to $13.40–$13.60. These are management estimates for the full year and can change.

- Multi-purpose coupling, widely used in varied applications
- Metal valve stop prevents flow checking to provide steady performance
- Brass couplers have double O-rings for redundant sealing and stainless steel locking balls for corrosion resistance
The Q2 release also reported 12-month rolling average order growth and year-over-year backlog growth at the end of June 2026. In Electrical Americas, order growth was 41% and backlog growth was 33%; in Electrical Global, the figures were 33% and 103%; in Aerospace, they were 17% and 28%. These company-reported measures are tied to the release’s segment definitions and period. Orders and backlog can indicate demand, but do not by themselves establish when revenue will be recognized or how profitable future work will be.

Eaton CEO Paulo Ruiz said in the July 31, 2026 release that the company was benefiting from robust demand across end markets while data centers remained a key growth driver. This is management’s assessment of current demand, not an independent forecast of future results.

What could go wrong?
| Company | Risks to weigh |
|---|---|
| Parker-Hannifin | Changing market conditions and customer or distributor orders; shifts in air travel and manufacturing; currency and interest rates; raw-material costs or availability; trade policy; labor and supply-chain interruptions; cybersecurity and geopolitical conditions; and acquisition integration. |
| Eaton | End-market volatility; acquisition integration; input and labor availability; tariffs and geopolitical conditions; cybersecurity; and the uncertainty of completing its planned Mobility separation. Eaton’s 2025 annual report also showed stronger data-center and electrical markets alongside weaker vehicle and eMobility markets, illustrating uneven cycles within its portfolio. |
Eaton has announced a plan to separate Mobility through a Reverse Morris Trust transaction, which it expected to close in Q1 2027 subject to conditions, according to its Q2 2026 release. It remains a planned transaction, not a completed separation. Investors considering Eaton should account for execution and timing uncertainty rather than treating the future company structure as settled.
Parker’s acquisition activity and integration also matter to execution. For both companies, strong recent growth or margins do not remove exposure to cyclical demand, operating costs or company-specific delivery risks.
Which one fits your portfolio?
- Research Parker further if you want diversified motion-and-control exposure across industrial and aerospace-related applications, and are comfortable with sensitivity to manufacturing, transportation and other cyclical markets.
- Research Eaton further if you want a stronger emphasis on power management, electrical infrastructure and electrification, while accepting exposure to uneven end-market cycles and a planned corporate separation.
- Compare both if you are deciding between industrial and infrastructure exposure, or if you already hold companies with similar customers and demand drivers. A second holding is not necessarily diversification if it adds exposure to the same cycle.
Neither latest earnings growth nor margin alone resolves which stock suits you. Your investment horizon, tolerance for cyclicality, existing holdings and the price you would pay all affect the decision.
Can the available figures tell you which stock is cheaper?
No. The materials cited here do not establish a common-date share-price snapshot, market capitalization, forward earnings estimate or valuation multiple for both companies. A valuation verdict would require data for both shares as of the same date, using comparable definitions—for example, both trailing or both forward earnings, and clearly identified GAAP or adjusted figures. Without that matched comparison, it is not supported to call either stock the better value.
