RTINGS’ review finds strong contrast and wide viewing angles, but says the set struggles with glare. That makes it a better fit for controlled or dim viewing than a bright room—and its fixed 77-inch size is a major part of the buying decision.
What the Panasonic Z8BA is
Panasonic’s support guide lists the TV-77Z8BAP as a current model released in 2025. The company announced it on October 21, 2025, with presales scheduled to begin October 27 and wider availability planned for mid-November. The manual and RTINGS review identify a single size: 77-inch class, with a 76.6-inch diagonal. Panasonic’s launch announcement and support page provide the model and release details.

It is a 3840 × 2160 OLED television built around Panasonic’s HCX Pro AI Processor MK II. Panasonic describes its panel as Master OLED Pro Cinema Size and promotes a 4K Remaster Engine and Dolby Vision IQ Precision. Those are manufacturer descriptions of the hardware and processing, not independent measurements of brightness or picture improvement.

RTINGS’ tested review, published March 19, 2026, describes the Z8BA as a mid-range OLED with a WOLED panel. The reviewer reports near-infinite contrast, strong dark-room performance, wide viewing angles, and vibrant, accurate color. The main drawback in its assessment is glare handling: the television is not bright enough to overcome glare in a bright room. See RTINGS’ Panasonic Z8BA OLED review.

Panasonic says Dolby Vision IQ Precision adjusts the picture in response to room lighting, and describes processing intended to improve streaming clarity and reduce noise and banding. Those claims do not change the practical limitation identified by RTINGS: adaptive processing is not a substitute for enough screen brightness when strong ambient light or reflections wash out the image. The sources available do not establish a numerical brightness measurement for this model, so a precise peak-brightness claim would be unsupported.
Room fit matters more than a generic OLED label
- Dim or controllable room: The reported contrast and dark-room performance make this the more suitable setting for the Z8BA.
- Bright room with direct light or reflections: RTINGS’ glare warning is a reason to compare measured brightness and reflection handling on competing models before buying.
- Viewing from the sides: RTINGS reports wide viewing angles, which can help when several seats are spread across the room.
- Space and distance: At 77-inch class, it is a large-screen choice, not a model with smaller size options identified in the reviewed sources. Measure the room and the intended viewing distance before committing.
Does it support 144Hz gaming?
Yes, according to Panasonic’s manual: HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 support 4K/144Hz and VRR. Both ports list NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium support. The connected PC or console must also support the resolution, refresh rate, and variable-refresh features you want to use; a television’s input capability does not create those features in the source device.

Port choice matters if you use an eARC/ARC sound system. HDMI 2 is the port designated for eARC/ARC as well as the listed gaming capabilities. HDMI 1 also supports 4K/144Hz and VRR, while HDMI 3 and 4 are listed for 4K input. Check Panasonic’s product information and model support materials for the exact model.
HDR formats and broadcast TV
Panasonic advertises Dolby Vision support, including Dolby Vision IQ Precision. RTINGS describes the set as supporting Dolby Vision and HDR10+. Those formats give viewers options for compatible films and shows, but the benefit depends on the source content and playback device. The available information does not justify an exhaustive list of every HDR format the set may support.

The built-in ATSC 3.0 tuner is intended for compatible over-the-air NextGen TV broadcasts. You will need an antenna for antenna-based reception; an antenna is not established as included. Whether you can receive stations depends on local coverage, antenna placement, and signal conditions. Panasonic provides setup guidance through its support page.
Fire TV, sound, and connections
The Z8BA has Fire TV built in. Panasonic describes streaming apps, live channels, recommendations, and Alexa-related functions. App availability can change, so check the services you rely on in the Fire TV experience before purchase if a particular app is essential.

Panasonic promotes Dolby Atmos and a Technics-tuned 360 Soundscape Pro speaker system. The manual specifies 170W speaker output and a 3.5mm headphone/subwoofer jack, but that output figure does not establish how the television sounds in a particular room. Independent audio measurements or a soundbar comparison for this model are not available in the sources cited here; do not assume the built-in speakers replace a dedicated home-theater system.

Other connections and wireless specifications in Panasonic’s manual include four HDMI inputs, Ethernet, two USB ports (one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0), optical digital audio, Wi-Fi 6E bands, and Bluetooth 5.3. The manual also lists a one-year limited warranty for parts and labor, subject to its terms and conditions. Consult the manual for coverage details.

- DIMENSIONS & ROOM FIT: TV dimensions with stand (WxHxD) are 67.4" x 40.7" x 10.5", and dimensions without stand are 67.4" x 38.7" x 1.9". The 77-inch C6 is designed for larger living rooms and home theater setups; check your available wall or console space and mount compatibility before purchase. Wall-mount hardware is sold separately.
Should you buy the Panasonic Z8BA?
The Z8BA is worth considering if you want a large OLED for a room where lighting is manageable, value wide viewing angles and strong contrast, and can use its 4K/144Hz and VRR inputs. ATSC 3.0 is an additional reason to consider it if you watch local over-the-air broadcasts and have suitable antenna reception.
It is a less obvious match for a bright room where glare is difficult to control, or for anyone who wants a smaller screen. Panasonic’s product materials establish a broad feature set, but the sources reviewed do not establish a lasting street price. Check the price and stock available on the day you shop; the value depends on that offer as well as your room, preferred smart-TV platform, HDR sources, gaming devices, and plans for external audio.
