The Panasonic NN-ST25JWQPQ is a 20-litre, 800-watt solo microwave with a turntable—not a grill or convection oven. Panasonic documents nine automatic menu choices and a Quick 30-second function. However, CHOICE marks this exact model discontinued, and its public review page does not reveal the expert rating or cooking-test results, so there is not enough accessible test evidence to recommend it on performance alone.
What kind of microwave is the NN-ST25JWQPQ?
It is a solo countertop microwave with a turntable. Panasonic’s product information describes the model family as solo, while CHOICE identifies the NN-ST25JWQPQ as a turntable microwave. The accessible specifications do not identify a grill or convection function. That makes it a basic microwave-heating option, not a substitute for an oven when browning or baking is needed.

Owner guidance: defrosting, cleaning and troubleshooting
Defrosting food
Panasonic advises checking food during defrosting and stirring, turning or separating pieces to help them thaw evenly. The manual says to turn large joints and poultry halfway through, and describes protecting the ends with foil as instructed. Follow the manual’s directions for the food and observe relevant food-safety guidance.
Cleaning and safe operation
- Operate the oven with the roller ring and glass tray in place.
- Use only the glass tray designed for this oven. Panasonic lists a 255 mm diameter, but a matching diameter alone does not establish that a replacement tray is compatible.
- Unplug the oven before cleaning. Wipe food splatters from the cavity and door seals with a damp cloth; avoid harsh abrasives and commercial oven cleaners.
- Keep the vents clear. Panasonic’s manual states: “The oven vents should never be blocked during cooking.”
If the oven will not turn on
- Check that the plug is fully inserted.
- Check the circuit breaker or fuse.
- Try another appliance in the outlet to help determine whether the outlet may be the problem.
- If the oven appears faulty, contact an authorized service centre. Do not attempt internal repairs; Panasonic recommends qualified personnel for service and an authorized dealer for repair.
Using a conventional oven thermometer
Do not put a conventional oven thermometer containing metal inside the microwave; Panasonic warns it may cause arcing. To check the temperature of joints or poultry, use a meat thermometer after removing the food from the microwave.
Is the NN-ST25JWQPQ worth considering?
It may suit someone seeking a compact, straightforward 20 L, 800 W solo microwave with automatic menus and a quick-start option, provided the dimensions and required clearance work for the kitchen. But its discontinued status and the lack of publicly visible CHOICE performance scores mean the available evidence cannot establish how well it cooks compared with current models. Verify availability and support in your market, and base any comparison on usable capacity, controls, layout, clearance and accessible independent test results—not on an assumed performance verdict.
