Predator Cores come from defeating Predator Pals. They cannot be bought or crafted, and the core-bearing enemies are tougher, uncatchable variants introduced in the Feybreak Update. Most early encounters yield one core; the strongest level 60 encounters can yield four.

If you are asking which Pals “use” Predator Cores, the answer is none: cores are a player crafting material. They are spent on the Small, Medium, Large and Giant Pouches, the Terra Blade, and Meowmere. The exact Predator Pal roster is still inconsistent between current guides, so treat individual names and totals as provisional until you verify a spawn in your own patch.

A Predator Core is a Feybreak-era crafting resource obtained from a special enemy category called a Predator Pal. Predator Pals are stronger versions of ordinary Pals. They have a reddish-pink aura and red eyes, and they are encountered as fixed-world spawns rather than as normal catchable wildlife.
The majority of current guides say Predator Pals cannot be caught. One guide claims they can be added to a party, but that claim is not corroborated by the majority of sources. Plan your hunt on the assumption that the encounter is a combat-only event: defeat the Predator Pal, then collect the dropped core.
#1 Best Overall
You cannot purchase Predator Cores from a merchant, and there is no recipe for making them from other materials. If a crafting menu appears to require cores, you must obtain them from Predator encounters first.
How to get Predator Cores
1. Identify a Predator Pal
Look for the red eyes and reddish-pink glow. The aura is particularly useful at night, when it is easier to distinguish a Predator Pal from ordinary spawns. Predator Pals are not marked with icons on the world map.

Predator spawn points are fixed, but a Predator Pal may not be present every time you visit. Some encounters are reported as night-only. Use a current community map or your own saved coordinates to build a route, but do not assume that every point is active at every hour or on every visit.
3. Check the spawn conditions
Arrive during the time of day associated with the encounter. If the site is empty, leave the immediate area and return rather than repeatedly circling the same spot. A 2024 Steam discussion describes moving roughly 200 metres away and then coming back to force another spawn check; that method is old, so its reliability on your current patch is not guaranteed.
4. Defeat the Predator Pal
Predator Pals are tougher than their ordinary counterparts. Bring a party and equipment suitable for the target’s level, and use a flying mount when you need to search a wide area quickly. Avoid treating the encounter like a capture attempt: the prevailing information is that these enemies cannot be caught.
5. Collect the core and record the result
After the enemy is defeated, collect the drop before leaving. Note the Pal’s name, level, time of day and number of cores. Keeping your own log is valuable because published lists disagree on both the total number of Predator Pals and the drop list.

How many Predator Cores does a kill give?
Published guides describe a range from one to four cores per defeat. XGamingServer’s 2026 guide characterizes early-game encounters as one-core drops and the strongest level 60 targets as four-core drops. Pindrop’s guide, updated in August 2026, identifies four level-60 farming targets that give four cores per kill.
| Encounter or claim | Reported yield | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Early-game Predator encounters | 1 core | General range reported by XGamingServer’s 2026 guide; not a guarantee for every named Pal. |
| Strongest level 60 targets | 4 cores | General upper end reported by the same guide. |
| Rampaging Helzephyr Lux | 4 cores | Listed by Pindrop as a high-yield farming target. |
| Rampaging Bushi Noct | 4 cores | Listed by Pindrop as a high-yield farming target. |
| Rampaging Sootseer | 4 cores | Listed by Pindrop as a high-yield farming target. |
| Rampaging Incineram Noct | 4 cores | Listed by Pindrop as a high-yield farming target. |
Pindrop also reports that all 45 Rampaging Predator encounters in its August 2026 guide drop cores at a 100% rate per kill. That figure is a guide’s claim, not an independently confirmed game rule, and it conflicts with other catalogues that list fewer Predator Pals. Use it as a farming lead, then verify the actual result in your world.
Which Pals drop Predator Cores?
The safest current rule is that Predator Pals are the source. The complete roster is not settled, however. Different references count different numbers of encounters:
| Reference | Reported total | Additional detail |
|---|---|---|
| Game8 catalogue | 32 Predator Pals | Reports eight as night-only; publication year was not stated. |
| Another contemporary source | 33 Predator Pals | No matching full list was available. |
| Palworld Fandom wiki | 36 Predator Pals | Its source rules also differ from the Predator-only framing. |
| Pindrop guide, updated August 2026 | 45 encounters | Counts every Rampaging Predator encounter in its guide. |
Those totals may reflect different patch versions, naming conventions or whether variants are counted separately. They should not be merged into a single definitive list.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minutePartial encounter data
A partially retrieved table gives the following examples. It is useful for planning early hunts, but it is explicitly incomplete:
| Pal named in the partial table | Level | Availability | Reported cores |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gorirat | 30 | Day and night | 1 |
| Vanwyrm | 25 | Day and night | 1 |
| Direhowl | 25 | Day and night | 1 |
| Lovander | 26 | Night only | 1 |
| Dogen | 28 | Day and night | 1 |
Do not read this partial table as proof that every ordinary Gorirat, Vanwyrm, Direhowl, Lovander or Dogen drops a core. The entries refer to the reported Predator encounters, not necessarily the normal versions of those Pals.
Why some online lists conflict
The Palworld Fandom wiki includes regular Pals such as Kitsun, Wumpo and Suzaku as core sources and says they can be defeated, captured or butchered for the material. That conflicts with the Predator-only rule and with the majority view that Predator Pals cannot be captured. Until the game itself confirms those entries on your installed version, treat them as unverified or potentially outdated rather than as a second reliable farming method.
Rank #2
Likewise, a separate guide names Tarantiss, Rayhound and Omascul with coordinates, but those encounters could not be verified as Predator Pals. Coordinates from that list should not be treated as confirmed core locations without an in-game check.
Where and when Predator Pals spawn
Fixed points, no map icons
Predator locations are described as fixed, but they do not appear as ordinary icons on the world map. This makes a community map, a personal waypoint list or a written route more useful than relying on the in-game map alone. Mark every confirmed point yourself, including whether it was active during the day or night.
Night-only encounters
Some Predator Pals are reported to spawn only at night. Flying after dark can make the glowing aura easier to spot from a distance. If a point repeatedly fails during the day, return during the night cycle before deciding that the location is wrong.
When a point is empty
An empty point does not prove that the encounter has been removed. Sources say a Predator may fail to appear on a particular visit. Move approximately 200 metres away and return to trigger another check, following the older Steam-player method, or leave the area and continue your route before trying again. Because that method dates from 2024, confirm that it still works on your patch.

What Predator Cores are used for
Predator Cores are used in crafting rather than as a consumable for a Pal. The Palworld Wiki (wiki.gg) lists the following core costs:
| Crafting item | Predator Cores required | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Small Pouch | 1 | Lowest-cost pouch tier. |
| Medium Pouch | 5 | Higher-capacity pouch tier. |
| Large Pouch | 10 | Higher-capacity pouch tier. |
| Giant Pouch | 20 | Highest listed pouch tier. |
| Terra Blade | 1 | Core cost listed for the weapon line. |
| Meowmere | 3 | Standard version cost listed by the wiki. |
| Meowmere, Legendary | 5 | Legendary version cost listed by the wiki. |
The pouch progression is expensive at the upper tiers: moving from the Small to the Giant Pouch requires 20 cores for the Giant tier alone. If you are also making Meowmere or a Terra Blade, keep a separate tally before spending your first drops. The listed costs come from a wiki page whose publication year and patch were not stated, so check the recipe shown in your own crafting interface before committing materials.
An efficient farming plan
- Start with confirmed points. Use a current map or a location you have personally verified. Avoid routes built only from an unconfirmed coordinate list.
- Sort the route by time of day. Put night-only encounters in one loop and day-capable encounters in another. This prevents wasting a full cycle at an inactive point.
- Test the respawn check. At an empty point, move roughly 200 metres away, return once, and record whether the Predator appears. If that does not work on your version, continue to the next waypoint and circle back later.
- Prioritize four-core targets. When available and within your combat ability, test Rampaging Helzephyr Lux, Rampaging Bushi Noct, Rampaging Sootseer and Rampaging Incineram Noct first; Pindrop lists each at four cores per kill.
- Log every result. Record the exact name, level, time, spawn status and drop count. This turns uncertain online lists into a route that is reliable for your own save.
- Spend only after checking recipes. Confirm the current pouch, Terra Blade or Meowmere recipe in-game, especially if your game has updated since the wiki values were published.
Troubleshooting common problems
“I reached the coordinate, but there is no Predator.”
Check whether the encounter is night-only, leave the area and return, and allow for the possibility that the spawn simply failed on that visit. Predator locations are not guaranteed to be active every time.
“I defeated one and received no core.”
First confirm that the enemy was the Predator variant, not the ordinary Pal. The distinguishing red eyes and reddish-pink aura matter. Then check your inventory and your combat log, if enabled. Published sources generally describe a core drop from Predator defeats, but exact behavior can vary by encounter and patch; record the result rather than assuming a different Pal’s list is correct.
“The guide says I can capture it.”
Most sources say you cannot. The capture claim is an outlier. Test the interaction only if you are willing to verify it on your own version; do not plan your party around an uncorroborated guide.
“My total does not match an online list.”
That is expected at present. Counts range from 32 to 45 depending on the catalogue. Differences may come from patch timing, variant counting or incomplete lists. Use the in-game encounter and a current database such as paldb to validate a specific name.
What is confirmed, and what still needs checking?
The dependable part of the system is narrow: Predator Cores are associated with Predator Pal defeats, cannot be bought or crafted, and are used for Feybreak-era pouch and weapon recipes. The uncertain part is the catalogue: source totals disagree, some ordinary Pals are listed by a wiki as alternative sources, and one guide disputes the prevailing no-capture rule.
Because the available guides were published at different times—including a 2024 spawn discussion, a 2026 yield guide and an August 2026 encounter catalogue—your installed patch takes priority. Verify a specific spawn, drop count or recipe in-game before building a long farming trip around it.
