Palo Alto Networks completed its acquisition of IBM’s QRadar software-as-a-service (SaaS) assets on August 31, 2024. The deal did not include all IBM QRadar products: IBM’s on-premises offerings were not covered by the SaaS lifecycle notice. The acquired SaaS products were assigned two end-of-life dates—April 14 and August 31, 2026—and both dates have passed. Customers should confirm their account’s present status and any migration options directly with Palo Alto Networks or an authorized reseller.
What Palo Alto Networks bought—and what it did not
The transaction closed on August 31, 2024, and covered IBM’s QRadar SaaS assets. In April 2025, Palo Alto Networks described the acquired portfolio as “Threat Management (including QRadar)” SaaS products. The product list included QRadar on Cloud, Cloud-Native SIEM and SOAR components, SOAR on Cloud, Log Insights, QRadar Suite EDR and XDR, X-Force Threat Intelligence, Randori products, and QRadar Advisor with Watson. IBM announced completion of the transaction; Palo Alto Networks later published the product lifecycle notice.

This was not an acquisition or discontinuation of every QRadar product. Palo Alto Networks’ notice expressly says it does not affect IBM QRadar on-premises products or SKUs. IBM’s current QRadar product page lists on-premises SIEM, SOAR, and EDR offerings and says those customers continue to receive IBM features and support, including security updates, usability improvements, critical bug fixes, existing connector updates, and the ability to expand consumption.
When the acquired QRadar SaaS products reached end of life
Palo Alto Networks’ end-of-sale notice took effect April 14, 2025, and divided the listed SaaS products into two groups. The announced end-of-life dates have both passed as of September 29, 2026.

The notice said Palo Alto Networks would honor existing subscriptions and support obligations through the earlier of the subscription-term end or the relevant end-of-life date. Where renewals were permitted, the renewed term had to end on or before that product’s end-of-life date. Because both deadlines are now in the past, the general notice cannot establish whether a particular customer’s service, support, or contractual rights remain active today. Check the account’s contract and service status with Palo Alto Networks or an authorized reseller.
Migration options for QRadar SaaS customers
Palo Alto Networks said eligible customers could receive migration services to Cortex XSIAM or other Cortex solutions. The services were described as no-cost and intended to maintain continuity for the remainder of applicable subscription terms. IBM’s completion announcement separately said eligible QRadar clients could receive cost-free Cortex XSIAM migration through IBM Consulting, using automation, pre-built accelerators, and global, regional, and local delivery models.
“Eligible” is important: these announcements do not establish free migration as a universal entitlement, nor do they confirm that the same terms remain available after the SaaS end-of-life dates. Ask the vendors to confirm eligibility, timing, data and workflow continuity, the destination product, and any customer-specific costs before planning a transition.

Choosing a path to evaluate
| Path | What to establish with the vendor |
|---|---|
| Cortex XSIAM or another Cortex solution | Which destination fits the organization’s security operations, whether migration support applies, and what happens to data, detections, integrations, and workflows. |
| IBM QRadar on premises | Whether the organization’s existing on-premises deployment and support arrangement meet its operational needs. The SaaS lifecycle notice does not apply to these products. |
| IBM Consulting managed security services | Whether a managed SOC, threat detection and response, or migration engagement fits the organization’s staffing model, scope, and contract requirements. |
The announcements do not publish a universal price or eligibility matrix for these options. A customer-specific proposal is needed to compare migration costs, operating responsibilities, and service coverage.

The acquisition sits within a broader security partnership announced in May 2024. IBM Consulting was named a preferred Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) for current and future Palo Alto Networks customers. The companies also announced plans for a joint Security Operations Center featuring a managed SOC, a joint Cyber Range for customer education, and work connecting Palo Alto Networks’ Prisma Cloud with IBM offerings across the DevSecOps lifecycle.
In the September 2024 completion announcement, IBM said its Security Operations Center Consulting Transformation Services and Threat Detection and Response Managed Security Services teams could support Cortex XSIAM. It also described IBM Consulting integration and managed services for combining Prisma Cloud with IBM offerings. These are enterprise services, not automatic components of a QRadar SaaS migration; availability, scope, and contracting terms depend on the customer’s arrangement.

The announcements included several dated company-reported figures. In its May 15, 2024 partnership announcement, IBM and Palo Alto Networks said IBM intended to include more than 250,000 global workers in a planned internal deployment scope for Cortex XSIAM and Prisma SASE 3.0; that was an intention, not confirmation of a completed rollout. On September 4, 2024, the companies said more than 1,000 IBM consultants would be trained on Palo Alto Networks security solutions.

On November 20, 2024, Palo Alto Networks said more than 550 QRadar SaaS customers had joined its Cortex customer base following the late-August deal close. The company also reported more than $80 million in QRadar-to-XSIAM transaction total contract value at that point. It separately cited more than $1 billion in pipeline value across the broader SaaS and on-premises QRadar base. These were historical company statements, not current totals or independently audited measurements; pipeline is not booked revenue. The earnings-call transcript is available in Palo Alto Networks’ investor materials.
