Pakistan’s National Library has launched “Beyond the Syllabus,” a lecture series intended to supplement Central Superior Services (CSS) exam preparation with practical perspectives from experienced professionals and senior officials. The first lecture took place on 1 October 2026; the launch announcement does not give a schedule or enrollment details for future sessions.
What is “Beyond the Syllabus”?
The National Heritage and Culture Division launched the series at the National Library of Pakistan for students preparing for the CSS examinations. Its stated aim is to complement academic study with perspectives from experienced professionals, including senior civil servants and members of the judiciary. The announcement describes the series as an addition to exam preparation, not a replacement for it. How does it fit into CSS preparation?
The lecture format is intended to expose candidates to practical perspectives alongside their academic preparation. That may help aspirants consider how public institutions and administrative responsibilities relate to the broader questions they study, but the announcement provides no evidence that attending improves exam performance.
The National Library says it offers physical books and digital resources for competitive-exam preparation. The launch announcement does not name particular titles or digital collections, so candidates should check with the library directly for current availability and access arrangements.

What is known about future sessions?
The launch report records an interactive question-and-answer session at the inaugural lecture. It does not state when another lecture will take place, how candidates can enroll, whether there is a fee, or what eligibility rules may apply. Aspirants interested in attending should look for updates from the National Library or the National Heritage and Culture Division rather than assume the opening session’s arrangements will continue.
