Pakistan residents have one broker worth checking for US-stock access: Interactive Brokers (IBKR) lists Pakistan among its available countries. That does not guarantee an individual application will be accepted, and it does not establish that a Pakistan bank can send money to the account. A US bank account is not shown as a universal requirement in IBKR’s general funding information, but a workable, permitted funding route from Pakistan must be confirmed before applying or remitting money.
What the available-country evidence actually shows
As of October 7, 2026, the official country-availability information reviewed supports one candidate for further investigation, not a verified list of five platforms open to Pakistan residents. Account eligibility and the ability to fund an account from Pakistan are separate questions: a broker may list Pakistan but still decline an individual application, while a successful application does not prove that a particular bank transfer is accepted or permitted.

Interactive Brokers: a candidate, not a guarantee
IBKR’s available-country list includes Pakistan, and its individual-account information describes international accounts and access to US stocks. The broker says: “Accounts are accepted from citizens or residents of all countries except citizens or residents of those countries or regions that are on the sanction list of the US Office of Foreign Asset Controls or similar lists, or other countries determined to be higher risk.” The higher-risk qualification matters: a country appearing on the list does not promise that a particular resident will be approved.
IBKR’s general information also describes funding in multiple currencies and a Wise-linked option. Those are general broker features, not confirmation that Wise onboarding or a transfer originating in Pakistan will work for a Pakistan-resident customer. Availability and payment features can vary by IBKR affiliate and account entity.

Other providers: do not treat an absent or unclear listing as approval
| Provider | What the reviewed official information establishes | Practical reading for a Pakistan resident |
|---|---|---|
| Interactive Brokers | Pakistan appears on its available-country list; its individual-account materials describe international accounts and US-stock access. | Investigate application eligibility and funding with the specific broker entity before relying on it. |
| Saxo | Pakistan is absent from its serviced-country list updated July 28, 2026. Saxo says its list can change and onboarding availability is checked through its application process. | The reviewed list does not support presenting Saxo as available to Pakistan residents. |
| Trading 212 | Pakistan is absent from its supported-country list. | The reviewed list does not support presenting Trading 212 as available to Pakistan residents. |
| Charles Schwab International | Its reviewed restriction page says residents of restricted countries cannot apply but does not identify Pakistan. Its general international-account information does not establish Pakistan eligibility. | Eligibility remains unresolved; ask Schwab directly or check its live country selector. |
Because these sources do not establish five eligible providers, a “five best platforms” ranking would give a misleading impression of access. Do not infer that a provider is open to Pakistan residents merely because it offers international accounts, serves other countries, or appears in a comparison list.
How to check whether funding from Pakistan can work
Before opening an account or sending funds, get a clear answer from both the broker and the bank or authorized dealer handling the remittance. Ask about the precise account entity and transfer route you intend to use; a broker’s general statement about multi-currency deposits or a linked payment service does not settle Pakistan-specific eligibility.
Rank #2
- Confirm onboarding. Ask the broker whether it currently accepts residents of Pakistan for the specific account entity, and whether your own circumstances could affect approval.
- Confirm the source account. Ask whether deposits must come from an account in the brokerage customer’s own name and whether transfers originating at your Pakistan bank are accepted.
- Check the remittance with your authorized dealer. Describe the intended recipient, purpose, currency and transaction accurately. Ask whether the transfer is permitted under current rules, which purpose code and supporting documents apply, and what intermediary-bank charges may arise.
- Plan the return path. Ask the broker and bank how withdrawals can be sent back, which destination accounts are accepted, and whether the account-holder name must match exactly.
- Keep written answers and verify them before transferring. Broker terms, bank procedures, payment features and foreign-exchange requirements can change. Do not send money until both sides have confirmed the route for your case.
The State Bank of Pakistan materials reviewed cover particular foreign-currency account, foreign-asset and special non-resident arrangements; they do not settle the general permission or process for a Pakistan resident remitting money to a foreign retail brokerage. In particular, rules or facilities for non-resident Pakistanis should not be treated as authorization for residents. Ask an authorized dealer about the exact proposed transaction rather than assuming a general allowance applies.

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has warned about unauthorized offshore trading platforms and fraudulent investment schemes. Its 2025 notice reported complaints involving named platforms, including IBKR. That wording is not evidence that every named service is fraudulent, nor does it establish the status of every foreign brokerage arrangement. It also should not be read as SECP endorsement of a foreign broker.

- Verify the broker’s legal entity and regulatory status through the broker’s official materials and the relevant regulator’s own records.
- Check that the account is opened with the actual broker entity, rather than a lookalike website or an intermediary that only displays a balance.
- Confirm deposit instructions inside the verified account or directly with the broker; do not rely on unsolicited messages or payment details sent by an unknown party.
- Do not use a false foreign address, misstate the purpose of a transfer, or route funds through someone else’s account to get around a restriction.
What to establish about shares, costs and investor safeguards
Country availability alone does not tell you whether a particular account will hold actual shares or provide a derivative instead. Before funding, confirm the product offered for the security you intend to trade and the legal entity that will custody the account. Also obtain the current tariff for the specific entity and account rather than relying on a generic fee comparison.
- Whether the product is a shareholding or a derivative, and what rights or risks follow from that structure.
- Which entity holds the account, what investor-protection arrangements apply to that entity, and what those arrangements do and do not cover.
- Trading, foreign-exchange, custody and transfer charges, including any bank or intermediary fees.
- Tax documents the broker supplies and the withdrawal destinations and name-matching rules it enforces.
Pakistan tax questions are separate from broker onboarding
IBKR’s onboarding guidance collects tax-residency information and distinguishes US persons from non-US persons for its US-based process. It says US citizens, green-card holders and other US tax residents complete Form W-9. That broker guidance does not establish how Pakistan taxes foreign dividends, capital gains or foreign assets, or what account-reporting obligations apply to an individual resident.

Those outcomes depend on current Pakistani law and the investor’s facts. Check current authoritative Pakistan tax guidance or consult a qualified adviser familiar with foreign brokerage assets before trading or filing. Do not use a broker’s US tax form instructions as a substitute for Pakistan tax advice.
