Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If an OBS broadcast to Owncast keeps disconnecting on Jio Fiber, check the whole path before blaming the ISP: OBS’s connection and bitrate, the Wi-Fi or router link, the Owncast RTMP address and stream key, and the Owncast server’s processing capacity. The title mentions YouTube, but that destination is not established here: Owncast receives an RTMP broadcast, and YouTube examples in OBS documentation are comparison tests, not proof that this stream is going to YouTube.
Start by identifying what is actually failing
A stream can appear to “drop” for different reasons. OBS may lose its connection to the ingest server, the computer may fail to encode frames quickly enough, or Owncast may accept the stream but struggle to process it. If the broadcast remains connected and only some viewers have trouble, the issue may instead be on the viewer side.

Before changing settings, note when the problem happens and check OBS Stats while broadcasting. Look for dropped frames and rendering lag, and note whether OBS disconnects or stays connected. A single speed-test result does not identify the cause: streaming stability on the actual route to the ingest server matters.
- Dropped frames or disconnections in OBS: investigate connection stability and whether the bitrate is too high for the sustained upload available to the stream.
- Rendering lag in OBS: investigate the broadcaster computer’s CPU/GPU and encoding load.
- Errors in Owncast logs or transcoder.log, or saturated server hardware: investigate Owncast processing and its FFmpeg installation.
- Broadcast remains connected but some viewers struggle: review Owncast stream performance and viewer-side network conditions rather than assuming the broadcaster’s Jio link is at fault.
These signs help narrow the investigation; without your logs, settings, connection tests, and diagnostic results, they do not establish a root cause.

- More Gigabit Ports - Each Deco X55 has 3 Gigabit Ethernet ports(6 in total for a 2-pack) and supports Wired Ethernet Backhaul for better speeds. Any of them can work as a Wi-Fi Router
Test the local connection before changing stream settings
Try Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi
For a short test, connect the streaming computer to the router with an Ethernet cable and repeat the broadcast under similar conditions. OBS recommends wired Ethernet because Wi-Fi can be unstable for streaming. If the test improves, the Wi-Fi or local network path may be contributing. If it does not, continue checking bitrate, the router and ISP path, and Owncast. A cable is only a test; no particular brand, category, or length is established as necessary.
Run JioFiber diagnostics in MyJio
- Open the MyJio app.
- Go to Home > JioCare > Run Diagnostics.
- Review the results for network health, router status, Wi-Fi strength, device connectivity, speed drops, loose cables, or configuration issues, then follow the on-screen troubleshooting.
If the diagnostics flag a service-side problem and it persists after the app’s suggested steps, contact Jio. A diagnostic result can identify issues to pursue, but it does not by itself prove that Jio caused every stream interruption.

Reduce OBS bitrate to a stable level
OBS describes dropped frames as a sign that the connection to the ingest server is unstable or cannot keep up with the configured bitrate. Lower the bitrate and test the broadcast again; if needed, also lower resolution or frame rate. OBS suggests using 75% of total upload speed as a starting point, not a guarantee. Judge the setting by whether the actual broadcast remains stable over time.

Make one change at a time and observe the result. If lowering bitrate helps, the previous setting may have exceeded what the route could sustain consistently. If it does not, do not keep reducing quality indefinitely: check the RTMP destination, local network, and Owncast host as well.

Verify the Owncast destination and encoder settings
Check the RTMP address, port, and stream key
Owncast accepts RTMP over TCP port 1935 by default, and the stream key belongs on the /live/ path. Check the destination and key in OBS against the settings for your Owncast server before replacing router hardware or changing ISP settings. A wrong endpoint, missing path, or incorrect key can prevent a reliable connection.
Match output quality to the server
Owncast warns against sending a resolution or bitrate higher than the server can handle. Its documented examples include 720p at 30 fps and 3000 kbps, and 1080p at 30 fps and 4500 kbps. These are examples, not universal requirements; use settings appropriate to your server’s configured capacity and the stability of your connection.

- WiFi 6E Tri-Band Mesh WiFi – Cover up to 7,200 Sq.Ft with next-gen seamless WiFi and make dead zones and buffering a thing of the past¹ ²
- Brand-New 6 GHz Band – Experience the latest frequency of WiFi, eliminating interference from all legacy devices. The 6 GHz band can work as a backhaul to ensure stable connections between nodes by default. You can switch it to Wi-Fi Network mode and connect your WiFi 6E-compatible devices to 6GHz Network³
- True Tri-Band Speed – All three WiFi bands work together to unleash your network’s total speeds up to 5,400 Mbps for 200 devices(6 GHz: 2402 Mbps (HE160);5 GHz: 2402 Mbps (HE160);2.4 GHz: 574 Mbps)¹ ³

- Unlock the Full Potential of WiFi 6 - Opening the 6 GHz band will change the game for WiFi 6. WiFi 6 brings about upgraded performance in network efficiency and capacity. Whereas the advantages of WiFi 6 are not fully realized while competing with transmissions from WiFi 5 (or other radios). The 6 GHz band is available only for WiFi 6 traffic, allowing WiFi 6 to meet its intended potential
- Use H.264 video and AAC audio for the compatibility path documented by Owncast.
- Set a two-second keyframe interval.
- If the server cannot handle the current output, reduce resolution or bitrate rather than assuming the network is the only limit.
Inspect Owncast when the connection looks sound
If OBS stays connected or network tests do not explain the failure, check whether the broadcaster or Owncast host is struggling to encode or process the stream.

| What you observe | What to check next |
|---|---|
| OBS reports dropped frames or disconnects | Test Ethernet and lower bitrate; investigate the route to the ingest server if instability continues. |
| OBS reports rendering lag | Investigate the streaming computer’s CPU/GPU and OBS encoding load. |
| Owncast logs or transcoder.log show errors, or host resources are saturated | Investigate Owncast processing, server capacity, and FFmpeg. |

Or let it run in the cloud
If the stream you want to keep live is a prerecorded video on YouTube, StreamNeo is a different option from troubleshooting an OBS-to-Owncast broadcast: upload the video, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It runs the loop in the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home; video streams as uploaded up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos streamed to YouTube, not camera broadcasts or Owncast.
