Orisuji is a turn-based maze puzzle designed around the iPhone Duo’s hinge. Adrien Friggeri’s concept treats the unfolded handset as a two-page paper book: the maze occupies the right page, while a perforated page sits on the left. Folding overlays those pages and changes which paths and characters exist, so the physical fold becomes a move rather than a display novelty.
How the two-page maze works
Friggeri describes Orisuji as a “turn-based paper maze” made for iPhone Duo. In the open position, you move a paper crane through the right-hand maze one step at a time. The left page contains holes that interact with the maze when the phone closes.

Open: plan on the right page
The unfolded layout resembles an open paper book. The crane walks through the visible maze, and each turn is deliberate rather than timed. The separate left page is not decorative: its holes determine what can connect when the handset folds.
Closed: overlay the pages
Folding lays the holed page over the maze. Paths on the overlaid pages bridge the holes, continuing across the combined maze on the phone’s cover. A character beneath the page can be pinned flat, turning the hinge action into a puzzle-state change instead of merely rearranging the interface.

Unfolded again: lift and carry
Opening the phone separates the pages. The lifted sheet carries anything standing on it, allowing the crane or another character to be repositioned by the act of unfolding. Solving a level therefore involves deciding not only where to walk, but when to close and reopen the device.
What is included
The FoldHunt listing checked October 15, 2026, describes 69 levels divided among six worlds. Its cast and mechanics include a red paper crane, a fox, a black cat, a gray cat, keys, and floors that can appear or disappear. The same description says there are no timers, supporting a quiet, deliberative pace.

What has actually been demonstrated
The available demonstration is narrower than a hands-on review. FoldHunt’s October 15 report watched a 13-second recording of level “Dawn 9” in the iPhone Duo simulator. In that clip, the crane moves while the phone is open, continues across the combined maze after a full fold, and reaches the moon after the phone opens again.

- The app version in the recording was not recorded.
- Only fully open and fully closed positions were shown.
- No half-fold behavior was demonstrated, so support for an intermediate hinge angle remains unconfirmed.
These limits matter if you are evaluating Orisuji as a reason to buy the hardware: the core interaction is shown in a simulator clip, while durability, touch behavior, accessibility and the feel of repeated folding still lack public hands-on confirmation in the cited material.
How to approach a level
- Map the open maze. Identify the crane’s route, the holes on the opposite page, keys and any floors that may vanish.
- Choose a fold point. Close the phone only when overlaying the pages will create a useful bridge or pin a blocking character.
- Use the closed state as a move. Check which paths now connect across holes and which character is trapped under the page.
- Unfold deliberately. Anything standing on the lifted page is carried with it, so opening can relocate a character as well as restore the two-page view.
- Repeat turn by turn. With no timer reported, prioritize a solvable sequence over speed.
Is Orisuji a “real” foldable game?
Yes, in the sense that the documented design makes folding alter the maze’s topology and character positions. It is not simply a conventional puzzle rotated across two screens. The hinge is the boundary between pages, and closing or opening the device performs actions that cannot be represented by walking on the open maze alone.

However, the public evidence does not establish whether every level requires physical folding, whether a tap or pinch can emulate the action on another device, or how the game behaves at a half-fold. Those are implementation questions that remain unanswered by the simulator recording and developer description.

Orisuji’s appeal is its unusually literal use of the iPhone Duo form factor: paper-like pages, holes that become bridges, and folding that pins or carries characters. If the reported listing is accurate, the package is a $4.99, ad-free, no-IAP puzzle with 69 levels and six worlds, scheduled for October 23, 2026. Treat the hinge mechanics as a documented design and simulator-demonstrated interaction, not yet as a fully hands-on-verified product experience.
