How to identify the controls in the released game
Do not publish or rely on a button map copied from a PC, Xbox or earlier demonstration. The Switch 2 build can assign actions differently, and the only dependable map is the one shown by the game or verified directly on that build.

Read the prompts before beginning a puzzle
- Launch the game and open its settings, options or controls screen from the title menu. If the game has a pause menu, check there as well.
- Record every displayed action, including movement, camera or cursor control, confirm, cancel, interact, rotate, undo, reset and any hint or menu shortcut.
- Return to a safe area and press each displayed input once. Confirm that the on-screen action matches the label before attempting a solution.
- Check whether prompts change when Joy-Con, a Switch 2 Pro-style controller or handheld controls are used. Record the device and mode because a prompt can be device-specific.
- Look for an option that restores defaults. Knowing how to reset a mistaken assignment prevents an experimental layout from becoming a puzzle-solving obstacle.
If no controls page exists, use the first low-risk area to map inputs manually. Avoid inferring an action from a familiar Nintendo convention: a puzzle game may use confirm, cancel or reset differently from the system menus.
Can you remap buttons?
There is no confirmed evidence that Order of the Sinking Star includes its own remapping screen. Check for labels such as Button Mapping, Customize Controls, Preset or Alternate Scheme in the game’s settings. A preset selector is not the same as assigning individual actions, so note which level of control is actually offered.
Distinguish game remapping from console remapping
Switch 2 also has system-level controller configuration. That feature can change what a physical button sends to the console, but it does not prove that the game exposes an accessibility-friendly layout, displays updated in-game prompts or supports every action independently. If you use system remapping, write down the changed buttons and keep the game’s on-screen prompts visible while testing.

Accessibility settings to inspect

Look for text-size, interface-scale, dialogue-speed or high-contrast controls. If none appears, test the smallest text in both handheld and TV modes. Search for colour-blind filters, palette choices, brightness, contrast, outline or pattern options. A brightness slider is not a colour-vision mode, and a palette option may affect only the interface. Test puzzle elements that rely on colour, shape and motion rather than checking a menu label alone.

Audio controls
Check for separate master, music, effects and dialogue sliders, as well as audio cues for interaction or puzzle completion. The product listing does not confirm any of these controls. What to look for in the options menu
- Resolution, render scale or image-quality selectors.
- Frame-rate, refresh-rate or performance/quality presets.
- Brightness, HDR, colour, contrast or safe-area controls.
- Interface scale or a handheld-specific layout toggle.
- Separate TV and handheld presentation choices.
If these controls are absent, that does not indicate a problem; many console games use fixed settings. It means only that the developer has not exposed those choices to the player.

Each world has its own mechanics, characters and story, and the product copy invites players to revisit challenges at their own pace. A control that is merely inconvenient in a short action sequence can become a serious barrier when repeated across hundreds of puzzles.

- Confirm the reset or undo action before experimenting with a solution.
- Check whether cursor movement and selection are comfortable for long sessions.
- Verify that small symbols remain distinguishable in the mode you plan to use most.
- Make sure language changes affect the instructions and menus you rely on, not just optional dialogue.
Because the title is listed for one player on one system, there is no second player whose controller can compensate for an awkward assignment. Your own tested layout and display distance therefore matter more than a generic controller recommendation.
Practical troubleshooting when a setting is missing
The game shows no controls menu
Check both the title screen and pause menu, then look for a help page, manual or button-prompts toggle. If the only prompts appear during play, photograph or record them in a safe area so you can refer back without guessing.
A console remap makes prompts confusing
Restore the system layout, map one action at a time and test it against the prompt shown by the game. If the game never reflects the remap, keep a written cross-reference beside you and avoid changing several buttons at once.
Text is readable on the television but not handheld
