How do I solve the Mirror Isles puzzles? Start by treating every mirror as a two-way position swap. A mirror projects two beams at right angles; when the player or a movable object occupies one beam, the game marks an equally distant reflected position on the other. Activate the mirror to exchange the two positions. On the documented Mirror 1 board, the solution is two swaps: reach the top-left island, move to its left edge so the reflection lines up with the southern island, swap again, and walk onto the goal. That route applies only when your board has the same four-island layout, mirror orientation and goal location.
“Part 1” is a community label rather than a verified official grouping. Fan guides describe 23 levels in the June 2026 demo and 27 boards in a full-region walkthrough, with numbering differences caused partly by whether hub puzzles are counted. Use the visible layout—not a number alone—to identify a board before following a route.

What the Mirror Isles mechanic does
Each mirror projects two beams at a right angle. The game calculates a reflected position on the second beam at the same distance from the mirror as the player or object on the first beam. Activating the mirror swaps the two positions instantly. It is not a conventional teleport to an arbitrary square: the mirror, the beam directions and the distance from the mirror determine the destination.

Stand on one beam and inspect the highlighted destination on the other. If the destination is clear, activating the mirror exchanges your current square and that reflected square. After the swap, you can walk normally on the destination island and set up another reflection from a different distance.

Object swaps
The same exchange applies to movable objects, including boulders and crystals. A reflected object can clear a route, occupy a pressure position or reach an otherwise isolated island. Plan the object’s destination before activating the mirror; moving yourself is not always the correct first move.
Water and newly created floor
Water is normally a barrier. When a stone is sunk into a water gap, it can become a walkable tile, changing the board’s route. Check whether a boulder must be moved into water before attempting a player swap, and remember that the new tile may alter which squares are reachable on the next turn.
Facing mirrors and copies
Some configurations use two mirrors facing one another. The Trader can split into copies in one arrangement and merge again in another. Treat each mirror as part of a combined system: moving one mirror changes its beams, the possible destinations and how copies interact. Do not assume that a destination remains fixed after a mirror is pushed.

The fastest reliable approach is to map the starting state instead of trying random swaps. Record the features that distinguish one community board from another:
- Island arrangement: note which islands are north, south, left and right of the starting island, and where water gaps interrupt walking routes.
- Mirror count and orientation: count the mirrors and note the direction of both beams. A one-square change in orientation can produce a completely different reflected destination.
- Movable objects: mark boulders, crystals, stones and any object that may be transported by a swap or sunk into water.
- Goal or exit: identify the goal circle, door or other exit before you move. A route that reaches an island is not solved until the character reaches the actual goal square.
- Starting positions: note the player, Trader and object locations. Community labels can describe the same-looking board differently, while a small starting-position change invalidates a sequence.
Only activate a mirror after checking the destination preview. If the preview is blocked, either move the obstacle, push the mirror to change the beam reach, or reposition yourself along the current beam.
What is the solution to Mirror Isles 1?
The documented “Mirror 1” example uses a specific four-island board. It is a community-guide route, not an officially published sequence, and the guide warns that the initial layout must match. If your board differs, use the identification checklist below rather than forcing these moves.
Confirm the matching layout
Before starting, verify that you can see the four-island arrangement used by the example, including the top-left island, the southern island, the mirror’s initial beam direction and the goal circle on the destination route. Compare the number and orientation of mirrors and the location of any movable objects. Descriptive titles and numbered IDs do not always match between guides or between builds.

First swap: reach the top-left island
- Stand on the starting beam and inspect the reflected square on the top-left island.
- Activate the mirror once. This swaps you to the top-left island.
The first jump is only the setup for the second. Do not walk directly to the goal yet; the reflected destination changes when your distance from the mirror changes.
Reposition the reflected destination
- On the top-left island, walk to its leftmost square.
- Stop and inspect the mirror preview again. At this distance, the reflected position should line up with the southern island.
- If the preview does not reach the southern island, check that you are on the exact left edge and that the starting mirror orientation matches the documented board. Do not activate the mirror while the destination is misaligned.
Second swap and finish
- Activate the mirror a second time to exchange your position with the reflected square on the southern island.
- Walk across the southern island to the goal circle.
This is a two-swap route: the first swap changes islands, walking changes the reflection distance, and the second swap reaches the southern island. A failed attempt usually means the initial board, the edge square or the mirror orientation does not match the example—not that the mechanic has changed.
Why the first swap may appear to be wrong
Players often expect the mirror to remember a destination after it is shown. It does not. The destination is calculated from your current position and distance from the mirror. After the first swap, walking farther from or closer to the mirror produces a different reflected square. That is why the documented route deliberately moves to the top-left island’s leftmost square before the second activation.
A blocked preview is also meaningful. A boulder, crystal, wall or missing water tile can prevent a useful exchange. Move the object first, push the mirror to alter the beam reach, or create a walkable water tile with a sunk stone if the board provides one.
How to solve other Mirror Isles boards
No single numbered sequence covers every board described as “Part 1.” Use this repeatable method for identifiable layouts.
1. Freeze the starting state
Do not move immediately. Identify the goal, every mirror, each beam direction, all movable objects and the walkable islands. If the board has copies of the Trader, note where they split and where a merge could occur.
2. Work backward from the goal
Ask which island or square must contain the player immediately before the goal. Then determine which mirror beam can reach that square at the required distance. This gives you a target position instead of a sequence of guesses.

3. Test the reflected destination without committing
Move along the current beam one square at a time and watch the destination preview. You are looking for a clear square that advances toward the target island. If the destination jumps over the island or lands in an obstacle, continue repositioning rather than activating.
4. Move mirrors only when distance is insufficient
Pushing a mirror changes where both beams reach. Before pushing, record its current orientation and the destination you are trying to preserve. After each push, recheck the preview; a mirror that makes one route possible can make a later route impossible.
5. Transport objects before the player when necessary
If a boulder or crystal must occupy a specific square, use the same reflection test on the object. An object can be sent through a mirror even when the player cannot yet reach the destination island. In water boards, determine whether sinking the stone creates the floor needed for your own later movement.
6. Resolve copy behavior deliberately
With facing mirrors, observe whether the Trader splits into copies or merges. Splitting may let one copy hold a position while another travels; merging may be required before the exit recognizes the solution. Because the outcome depends on mirror arrangement, treat copy behavior as a board-specific rule to test, not a universal shortcut.
7. Commit only after checking the next move
A legal swap can still be strategically bad if it leaves no reachable beam or traps an object. Before activation, identify where you will stand next and whether the mirror remains accessible. If you cannot describe the next useful position, reposition first.

“Part 1” scope, level counts and numbering
The available guides do not establish “Part 1” as an official game-defined section. One walkthrough updated October 2, 2026 covers 23 levels in the June 2026 Next Fest demo and says the launch version adds four puzzles. A separate full-region walkthrough lists 27 puzzles but explains that its sequence does not line up perfectly with another guide because it counts hub puzzles separately. These are different scopes and numbering conventions, not necessarily contradictory totals for one identical set.
A community directory preserves board IDs but warns that a descriptive title may not match the released game’s level name. For that reason, identify a puzzle by its landmarks: the number and direction of mirrors, island arrangement, objects, water gaps and exit position. If a guide’s “Mirror 1” does not look like your board, find the matching landmark description rather than changing your moves to fit the number.

Common failure modes and fixes
The destination is on the wrong island
Likely cause: you are standing at a different distance from the mirror than the route assumes, or the mirror was pushed earlier.
Fix: walk along the beam until the preview reaches the intended island. If no square works, restore the mirror’s documented orientation or remap the board.

The swap is blocked
Likely cause: an object or wall occupies the reflected square.
Fix: move the blocking object, transport it through the mirror first, or push the mirror to reach another clear square. Do not treat a blocked preview as a timing problem.
The second jump in Mirror 1 fails
Likely cause: you stopped short of the top-left island’s leftmost square, or your starting layout differs.
Fix: return to the first-board checklist, move to the exact left edge, and inspect the preview. If it still does not align with the southern island, use the board-specific method instead.
You cannot cross a water gap
Likely cause: the required stone has not been sunk into the water.
Fix: identify which object can be reflected into the gap and verify that the resulting tile becomes walkable before attempting the player route.
Copies of the Trader behave unexpectedly
Likely cause: the mirrors are facing in a configuration that splits or merges copies.
Fix: observe the result of each mirror push, keep a copy in place when the board requires it, and look for the arrangement that merges copies before the exit step.

The guide’s level number does not match
Likely cause: hub puzzles are counted differently, or the guide uses a descriptive community title.
Fix: compare the visible landmarks and starting state. Numbering alone is not a reliable identifier across the available walkthroughs.
What version and game are these puzzles from?
The Steam listing for Order of the Sinking Star gives October 8, 2026 as the release date, identifies Thekla, Inc. as developer and Arc Games and Gamirror Games as publishers, and describes more than 1,000 handcrafted puzzles. The count is the store’s description, not an independently audited total, and store information can change. The 23-level figure belongs to the June 2026 demo walkthrough; the 27-board figure belongs to a full-region community guide with its own counting method.
The game is listed as a digital purchase. The available material does not substantiate a physical edition, printed guidebook, themed puzzle book or licensed Mirror Isles collectible, so those formats should not be assumed when looking for a solution resource.

For the least spoiler exposure, first use only the mechanic explanation and board-identification checklist. Next reveal the target island and mirror orientation, then reveal the exact movement sequence only if your own mapping fails. On the documented first board, the minimal hint is: after the first jump, move farther from the mirror. The full route is to reach the top-left island, walk to its leftmost square, swap to the southern island and walk to the goal.
Because the guides are unofficial and their labels vary, treat a route as conditional instructions tied to a visible layout. Do not assume that a video or written sequence was recorded on the same build unless the guide explicitly establishes that; one cited first-board guide does not show the exact game build.
