On India-market specifications, the OPPO Reno16 5G (CPH2865) is the more upgraded phone. It has a 50MP ultra-wide camera where the Reno14 5G (CPH2737) has an 8MP one, a larger battery rating, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 instead of a Dimensity 8350, and ColorOS 16.0 instead of ColorOS 15.0. The Reno14 keeps the larger screen. The Reno16 is listed at ₹33,000 more than the Reno14’s launch price for the same 12GB + 256GB configuration, but those two prices are more than a year apart, so that figure is a cross-date reference rather than a current price gap. The price section explains how to read it.
Which models this comparison covers
This comparison uses the India versions: the OPPO Reno14 5G (CPH2737) and the OPPO Reno16 5G (CPH2865). The “Reno16” name is not a single global product. OPPO says pricing, regional availability and release timing vary by market, and its global Reno16 series announcement of 25 June 2026 notes that battery capacity and charging specifications also vary by market and version (OPPO Global, Reno16 series press release).

Before comparing retailer listings, check three things: the model number (CPH2865 for the India Reno16), the country, and the storage configuration. Do not transfer the India specification table to a Japan or other-market listing without checking that market’s product page.

The price comparison involves two dates, and the two prices are not labelled the same way. Read each figure with its date and price type.
Reno14 5G launch prices (India)
OPPO India’s launch announcement for the Reno14 series, dated 3 July 2025, gave launch prices for sales from 8 July 2025 (OPPO India, Reno14 series launch announcement). The figures were ₹37,999 for 8GB + 128GB, ₹39,999 for 12GB + 256GB and ₹42,999 for 12GB + 512GB. These are historical launch prices, not a current quote.

Reno16 5G prices (India, as of 31 August 2026)
OPPO India’s Reno16 details page states that its prices were correct as of 31 August 2026: ₹66,999 for 8GB + 256GB and ₹72,999 for 12GB + 256GB. OPPO describes these as tax-inclusive, subject to change, and directs readers to its store for the current price (OPPO India, Reno16 5G details and price).
Comparing like with like
The only storage tier with prices for both phones is 12GB + 256GB. Comparing it gives a ₹33,000 difference (₹72,999 minus ₹39,999), and the Reno16 price is about 82% higher than the Reno14’s launch price. Because the figures are more than a year apart, do not present that gap as what you would pay today for both phones.
| Storage tier | Reno14 5G, India launch price (8 July 2025 sales) | Reno16 5G, India price (as of 31 August 2026) | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8GB + 128GB | ₹37,999 | not listed for India | not comparable |
| 8GB + 256GB | not stated | ₹66,999 | not calculable |
| 12GB + 256GB | ₹39,999 | ₹72,999 | ₹33,000 (cross-date) |
| 12GB + 512GB | ₹42,999 | not listed for India | not comparable |
The Reno16’s 8GB + 256GB price of ₹66,999 cannot be matched to a Reno14 launch price, because OPPO’s launch figures do not give one for that tier.

Store pages, discounts and promotions
An OPPO India store page for the Reno14 series shows “from ₹37,999” with a struck-through ₹42,999 and promotional benefits (OPPO India Store, Reno14 series listing). That page does not carry a clear date, and it does not settle the price of every storage configuration. Treat exchange bonuses, bank offers and financing as separate from list price, and check the current price in the store before deciding.

Camera
The most visible hardware change is the ultra-wide camera, which moves from 8MP on the Reno14 to 50MP on the Reno16. Both phones list a 50MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 50MP front camera. A higher megapixel count does not by itself prove better photos. Sensor size, processing and lens quality also matter, and the specification pages do not give those details for comparison.
Battery and charging
OPPO lists 6700mAh typical for the Reno16 and 6000mAh typical for the Reno14, roughly 12% more capacity on the typical figures. On rated capacity, 6490mAh against 5840mAh is about 11% more. Both phones list 80W SUPERVOOC wired charging. These are capacity figures, not measured battery life. Screen settings, network conditions and software affect how long a charge lasts.

Display
The Reno14 has the larger screen, at a 6.59-inch class size. The Reno16’s India page lists about 6.32 inches, with a 2640 × 1216 resolution. Compare size and resolution separately. A larger panel suits viewing and gaming, while a more compact one is easier to hold and carry.
Performance and software
The Reno14 uses a Dimensity 8350, and the Reno16 uses a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. The product pages name the chipsets but do not include a benchmark, so this article does not claim a measured speed or gaming advantage for either phone. The software versions also differ: ColorOS 15.0 is listed for the Reno14 and ColorOS 16.0 for the Reno16, on the specification pages each company published.

The Japan Reno16 5G is a separate configuration. OPPO Japan’s release lists Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, with a 6.3-inch display, a 6700mAh battery and up to 80W charging. It names Amazon as an OPPO official store among its sales channels (OPPO Japan, Reno16 5G release announcement). That channel reference applies to Japan and does not indicate availability in other countries.

For any country, use the local OPPO product page and the local retailer’s listing to confirm the model number, storage, warranty and price.
Which one fits your situation
- Choose the Reno16 if ultra-wide photos matter to you, you want the larger battery rating and ColorOS 16.0, and the 12GB + 256GB price of ₹72,999 (or ₹66,999 for 8GB + 256GB, as of 31 August 2026) fits your budget.
- Choose the Reno14 if you want the larger 6.59-inch screen, a lower launch price point, or a 512GB option, and you can confirm its current price in an OPPO store or an authorised retailer.
- Check the model number first. Confirm CPH2865 for the India Reno16 and CPH2737 for the India Reno14 before buying, since other regional versions can differ.
- Compare current prices on the same storage tier. Use the store price on the day you buy, not the 2025 launch figure or the August 2026 reference, and treat promotions separately from list price.
Neither phone’s specification page offers independent test results, so this article does not rank camera quality, battery endurance or speed. Use these figures as a starting point for the comparison, then test the phones in person where you can.
