Huawei’s Pura X View has put a wide, non-folding phone back at the center of the shape debate. A report published October 8, 2026 by Gizmochina, citing tipster Digital Chat Station, says OPPO may lead a similar wide-screen “candybar” push and HONOR may follow. Neither company has announced such a device, and no specifications or launch dates have been confirmed. Huawei’s phone is the only one of the three that has been officially unveiled.
What Huawei actually unveiled
TechNode reported that Huawei unveiled the Pura X View at its August 20, 2026 event. It is a conventional non-folding phone with no hinge, so the wide format comes from the screen proportions rather than from a folding design. Reservations opened August 20, and TechNode reported that in-store experiences were scheduled to begin August 28. The published coverage does not state a price or a regional availability outside those events.

What “wide-screen candybar” means
A candybar is an ordinary non-folding phone. A wide-screen candybar keeps that rigid body but uses a squarer screen than the tall 20:9 or 19.5:9 shapes most current flagships use. A 16:9.5 ratio works out to roughly 1.7:1 from long side to short side, while 20:9 is about 2.2:1. The result is more horizontal room for content without a hinge. Diagonal size alone does not capture this difference, which is why the aspect ratio and physical width matter more when comparing devices.

What the rumor claims
Gizmochina’s October 8 report says Digital Chat Station expects OPPO to lead the wide-format push and HONOR to follow. The same report states that neither company has announced the device, its specifications, or its launch timing. Treat the sequencing as a tipster’s expectation, not a schedule.

Reported specifications, and where they conflict
- Display: Gizmochina relays a 7.6-inch prototype display in its October 8 report. Earlier reporting, summarized by GSMDome, described a possible device at roughly 6.3 to 6.4 inches. The two figures cannot both be right, and neither should be treated as final.
- Chip: a Snapdragon 8-series or Dimensity 9-series processor. The leak does not name one.
- Cameras: a 200MP main camera and a periscope telephoto camera.
- Battery: roughly 7,000mAh.
All of these details are leaks relayed secondhand, so they should be quoted only with attribution and an uncertainty label.
HONOR
The available reporting gives HONOR no model name, screen size, camera, battery capacity, or release date. The only claim is that HONOR may follow OPPO. Any HONOR figure published elsewhere should be checked against an official HONOR announcement before it is repeated.

Why wide slabs are drawing interest
Android Authority’s September 10, 2026 analysis, titled “Wide phones are winning buyers, and Android brands are scrambling to make more,” describes the main appeal as extra horizontal room for reading, gaming, and multitasking. The trade-offs are that a wider body is less pocket-friendly and harder to use one-handed.

The first-day sales figure
Gizmochina reports more than 180,000 units sold on the first day. This is a secondary report that has not been independently verified, so treat it as a claim attributed to Gizmochina rather than as market data.

OPPO’s October 8, 2026 announcement confirms that the Find X10 series will make its global debut on October 21, 2026, in Mallorca, Spain. That announcement does not mention a wide-screen phone, so it should not be read as confirmation of the rumored device.

How to judge a wide phone when one arrives
- Aspect ratio and usable width: compare the stated ratio and physical width, not only the diagonal. A 6.39-inch 16:9.5 screen and a 7.6-inch screen of a different ratio will not offer the same width.
- Portability and one-handed reach: check thickness and weight. The Pura X View’s 6.68mm thickness and 201g weight are the reference points for now.
- Hinge or flexible screen: a candybar has neither. If a device folds, it is a foldable and should be compared on different terms.
- Price and confirmed regional availability: none has been established for OPPO or HONOR wide-screen phones.
Until OPPO or HONOR publish an official specification sheet, these four checks are the most reliable way to compare any wide-format phone.
