OpenFate.ai Review: What a Hands-On BaZi Test Shows—and What It Doesn’t

OpenFate.ai makes a BaZi reading easier to inspect by showing chart structures alongside explanations, but that transparency is not proof that the chart was calculated correctly or that its interpretations are scientifically valid. The available hands-on review, published September 28, 2026, covers one existing-account profile and the free BaZi chart—not paid reports, follow-up chats, or every part of the service. The reviewer did not independently recompute the chart, so the fairest verdict is that OpenFate offers a detailed, potentially useful view of BaZi, with meaningful limits around verification, readability, privacy, and purchase decisions.

What did the hands-on OpenFate.ai test cover?

The September 28, 2026 TechBullion review reports that its reviewer used an existing account to create a profile and view the free BaZi chart. The entered details were February 3, 1998, at 3:00 p.m. in Brooklyn, New York, with Male selected. The reviewer also examined OpenFate’s homepage, Western chart entry flow, calculation documentation, privacy policy, and accessible pricing-page text.

This is a narrow product snapshot, not a full-system review. The reviewer did not verify a Western chart result, test paid reports or follow-up conversations, or independently validate the BaZi output using another engine. Because the session used an existing account, some first-time-user steps may differ. The TechBullion page displays both “By Victor Miller” and “By Jackson Ye,” so its byline is ambiguous.

Can you see the Four Pillars behind the reading?

In the chart described by the reviewer, the entered time appeared as 15:00 and the True Solar Time as 14:50. The chart reported Brooklyn coordinates of approximately 40.65° N, 73.95° W, and displayed these pillars: Ding Chou, Gui Chou, Xin Si, and Yi Wei. It named Xin Metal as the Day Master, showed backward luck cycles, and gave a luck-start time of November 7, 2007, at 02:00. These are observations from the review, not independently recomputed results.

The output reportedly displayed hidden stems, element distributions, Ten Gods, branch interactions, luck cycles, annual timing sections, and explanatory prose. It also separated checks for framework, formation conditions, and disruption. One reported line reads, “The absence of a blocker does not itself prove formation.” That qualification is useful within the chart’s own framework, but the wording is transcribed by the reviewer and was not independently checked against the live interface.

Making structures visible helps a reader trace what an explanation refers to. It does not establish that the interpretation is true, that the displayed calculation is correct, or that a forecast will happen. The chart reportedly assigned a 62/100 wealth theme score; treat it as a score within the product’s interpretive framework, not a measured probability, forecast, or standardized psychological assessment.

Is OpenFate.ai accurate?

The available evidence cannot establish that the tested chart was independently accurate. OpenFate describes its approach as calculation-first: its homepage says chart structure is visible and AI explains rather than rewrites underlying facts. Its BaZi methodology page describes rules and reproducible evidence, while its public @openfate/bazi-engine repository describes deterministic calculation, explicit handling of solar terms and True Solar Time, a configurable day-boundary policy, and calendrical regression coverage. These are vendor-published descriptions, not independent certification of the live service or validation of BaZi interpretations.

There is also a specific reason to check time and location conventions when comparing tools. In a comparison published by competing calculator provider FateForge, one June 15, 1990, 14:30 Ürümqi profile produced differing hour pillars. FateForge attributed the difference in that case to timezone and geocoding choices: it says OpenFate resolved the location using Asia/Urumqi (UTC+6), while other sites used UTC+8, changing solar-time corrections. This is one competitor-published test case, not proof that OpenFate is generally wrong. When comparing charts, check the selected birthplace, timezone convention, and any displayed time adjustment.

What is the chart like to use?

The review found the output detailed but jargon-heavy. Chinese characters and abbreviations such as 7K, EG, IR, and IW appeared, and only part of the wide pillar table fit in the tested desktop view. Some annual advice repeated. The reviewer also found that one section stressed strong execution and moving too fast, while another described deep potential with slow action; a clearer account of how those dimensions fit together would help.

OpenFate is therefore a better fit for readers already curious about BaZi or willing to learn its vocabulary than for someone seeking a brief, jargon-free answer. If you are new to the system, an introductory BaZi or Four Pillars book may help explain the terminology; no particular book was tested for this review.

What does OpenFate do with my birth data?

The TechBullion review says OpenFate’s privacy policy, dated August 2, 2026, describes collecting birth information, saved people, prompts, chats, reports, and account-related data. It says relevant information may be shared with AI service providers to generate responses, and reports the company’s statement that it does not sell personal data. The reviewer also reports that AI Memory, marketing email, and public feedback publication were enabled by default, with settings described for reviewing, disabling, or deleting data.

Those descriptions do not amount to an audit of security or retention, and the reviewer did not test whether deletion controls worked end to end. Before entering sensitive personal context, read the current privacy policy and inspect the account’s settings.

Is the OpenFate BaZi chart free?

The reviewer says the chart was generated through a free route without a purchase. Because the test used an existing account, it does not establish what a new account receives or whether free access is currently available on the same terms.

The accessible pricing text reportedly said subscriptions renew automatically, cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing cycle, one-time packs do not renew, and eligible refund requests have a seven-day window with exclusions. The review could not reliably capture current amounts or report-credit costs, and no paid report or follow-up chat was tested. Before buying, check the current terms and live pricing for the specific report or usage you want, including renewal, cancellation, and refund conditions.

How should you compare OpenFate with another BaZi calculator?

Do not assume that two tools use identical location or time conventions. For a meaningful comparison, look at the inputs and mechanics as well as the reading:

  • Does the tool confirm the entered birth time and selected location?
  • Does it disclose timezone conventions and solar-time adjustments?
  • Which chart structures can you inspect before paying?
  • Can you see how explanations connect to those structures?
  • Is the presentation readable if you are new to BaZi?
  • What data does the privacy policy cover, and what controls can you actually use?
  • What is the current total cost, and what are the renewal and cancellation terms?

The single comparison case described by FateForge illustrates why time conventions deserve attention; it does not establish a universal ranking of calculators.

Who should use OpenFate—and who should skip it?

OpenFate may suit people who want to inspect BaZi chart components and see explanations beside them, or learners who would use structured tables as a study starting point. It is a weaker fit for readers who want a short plain-language reading or a validated personality test. A detailed or confident interpretation is still an interpretation; do not treat BaZi scores or advice as evidence for consequential medical, financial, career, or relationship decisions.
