The same roundup described a flurry of AI model announcements without ranking them, and reported an administration action targeting PERM labor-certification applications at eight companies. The revenue discrepancy is not an audited result, and the available coverage does not establish the PERM action’s status on October 11.
How much did OpenAI’s reported revenue fall short?
SiliconANGLE reported that OpenAI told investors its revenue was $18 billion below the $68 billion figure the company had stated the previous month. The article does not give the resulting revenue figure, so the gap should not be used to infer one.

This is a reported difference between figures communicated to investors, not evidence that OpenAI’s realized revenue fell by $18 billion. The reporting does not establish whether the figures use the same time horizon or calculation method, and it does not cite an audited revenue statement or a company release confirming the specific figure.
What does “models play hopscotch” mean?
It describes a sequence of AI model and service announcements, not a formal performance comparison. SiliconANGLE’s roundup included Google’s Gemini assistant and announcements from OpenAI, Anthropic and other companies.

The roundup provides no common test results or performance measures for comparing the systems. Its headlines therefore do not establish which model performs best. A meaningful comparison would need to specify the task and assess models using shared criteria such as capability, speed, price, availability, context limits and enterprise controls.
What does the PERM action mean for tech employers?
PERM is a labor-certification process associated with employment-based permanent residency. The administration’s announcement, as reported by AP, affected Microsoft and several other firms. Axios reported that the Labor Department would reject new PERM applications and stop processing pending applications from eight named companies. That is an employer-specific action, not evidence of a general suspension of PERM applications nationwide.

The coverage identifies Microsoft but does not provide a complete list of all eight companies here. It also reports an announcement and the Labor Department’s position, rather than the underlying agency order or any subsequent court action. The cited reporting therefore does not establish whether the action remains in effect on October 11, 2026.
Administration officials alleged fraud as the rationale for the action; the cited reports do not establish that allegation as a judicial finding. Axios quoted Vice President JD Vance saying: “Our message to Microsoft is not that we want to harm your company; it’s that we want your company to thrive, but we want it to thrive by employing and empowering your fellow Americans.”
