D3 counts 13 applications for .agent. Its recap also lists four applications for .wallet, but does not identify those applicants; it provides no count or applicant identities for .bitcoin. These are applications—not approvals or domain names available to register.
What the new domain applications mean
A top-level domain (TLD) is the part of an internet address after the final dot, such as .com, .org or .ai. An application in ICANN’s new gTLD program seeks the right to operate a registry for a TLD string. It is not simply a request to buy one web address.

ICANN opened the application window from 30 April through 12 August 2026 as part of a program to expand the domain name system. The application window is closed, but the review and dispute stages still stand between a filing and any eventual public registrations. ICANN’s New gTLD Program
Who applied for .agent?
D3’s recap of the ICANN applicant list says OpenAI, Google and Meta each included .agent in their applications. D3 counts 13 applicants for that string and reports 18 applications submitted by Meta overall. These figures describe filings, not successful outcomes. D3’s Reveal Day recap

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The number of applications does not by itself show who will operate the eventual registry. Competing applications may require resolution, and each application remains subject to evaluation. Industry participants quoted in D3’s recap framed interest in .agent as part of a shift toward agentic technology; that is industry commentary, not an ICANN position.
What is known about .wallet and .bitcoin?
D3’s tally lists four applications for .wallet and five for .crypto, but its recap does not name the applicants. It does not establish a .bitcoin application count or identify any applicant for that string. The available information therefore does not confirm that crypto firms filed for .wallet or .bitcoin, or how many applications target .bitcoin. Specific applicant identities and purposes need to be checked in ICANN’s application-level records.

D3 reports 1,616 applications across 986 different strings, citing the 7 October list. The Outpost reported 1,615 applications on 8 October, citing secondary coverage. Because the totals differ, the 1,616 figure is best treated as D3’s count of the ICANN-linked list rather than an uncontested total. The Outpost’s report

Technical and application review
Applicants must use a registry service provider that has completed ICANN’s technical evaluation program. The applications then proceed through the program’s review process. The precise outcome and timing for any named string are not established by the application reveal.
Objections and appeals
ICANN appointed the International Chamber of Commerce for limited public interest and community objections, and the World Intellectual Property Organization for string-confusion and legal-rights objections. The described process includes administrative review followed by a determination by a one- or three-expert panel; a party that does not prevail may appeal. These objection routes do not represent the only way competing applications can be resolved. ICANN’s announcement on dispute-resolution providers

When will .wallet or .agent domains be available?
No public registration date for .agent, .wallet or .bitcoin is established in the cited program information. Applications still face evaluation and possible dispute or contention processes, so the reveal is not a signal that ordinary users can register these domains now or on a known date.
