Onyx’s Terms of Use, version 2.1.1, updated August 7, 2026, state: “THIS WEBSITE AND THE SERVICE PROVIDED HEREIN DO NOT OFFER ‘REAL MONEY GAMBLING.’” That is the company’s description of its service, not an independent legal finding or approval by Texas authorities. The name “Onyx Odds” should not be taken to mean the platform is a licensed Texas sportsbook. Onyx describes a platform with different services and account relationships, and the legal treatment can depend on the particular feature and how it operates.
How Onyx’s services and account requirements differ
Onyx’s website describes Onyx Games LLC as supporting the platform and Onyx Predictions LLC as providing introducing-broker services. Its terms state that trading sports-event contracts through Onyx requires a NinjaTrader account. These are distinct roles and arrangements; they should not be collapsed into a claim that every Onyx feature is the same kind of activity. Before using a particular feature, check its account requirements, location eligibility, and terms. A state listing for Onyx Social Sports Predictions alone does not establish identical availability or legal treatment for every service connected with the platform.
What Texas law says—and what it does not settle
Texas Penal Code Chapter 47 addresses gambling definitions and offenses. It defines a “bet” as an agreement to win or lose something of value solely or partially by chance, subject to statutory exclusions, and includes provisions concerning gambling and gambling promotion. Other laws address specific activities. Texas Occupations Code Chapter 2027 governs wagering on horse and greyhound races, including limits on authorized activity. Texas Government Code Chapter 466 concerns state lottery games and bars a lottery game whose winner is chosen based on the outcome of a sports event. Those provisions concern their defined subjects; they are not a feature-by-feature ruling on Onyx. See Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 2027 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 466.
The available sources do not establish a Texas court or regulator determination applying state law to each Onyx feature. It is therefore more precise to say that Onyx lists Texas as available and describes its service in its own terms, rather than to claim that every activity on the platform has been definitively cleared under Texas law.
