The original model combines AMD’s mobile Radeon RX 7600M XT (8GB GDDR6) with an M.2 2280 NVMe slot, four display outputs, USB ports, Gigabit Ethernet and USB4 power delivery. Use OCuLink for the best graphics bandwidth, USB4 for one-cable dock convenience, or both cables when you need the GPU and dock features at the same time.
The important buying caveats are its mobile-GPU performance ceiling, USB4 bandwidth, the fact that OCuLink-only mode disables the SSD and dock data ports, conflicting PCIe-generation descriptions for the M.2 slot, and uncertain stock. The official store page checked on August 18, 2026 showed the original unit sold out, with a displayed $759 list price and $660 reduction; that is not a dependable transaction price while unavailable.
What the original OneXGPU is
This first-generation OneXGPU is a self-contained external graphics and desktop-expansion dock for compatible laptops, mini PCs and handheld gaming PCs. It contains the GPU, cooling, power circuitry and ports, so you do not supply a desktop graphics card or internal power supply. OneXPlayer ships it with a 330W external adapter.
The GPU is the mobile Radeon RX 7600M XT, not the desktop Radeon RX 7600 XT. It is a 32-compute-unit RDNA 3 part intended to turn a low-power host with integrated graphics into a considerably more capable gaming system. The newer OneXGPU 2 is a different product using a Radeon RX 7800M; marketplace listings can blur the two.

What performance to expect from the RX 7600M XT
The RX 7600M XT is a meaningful step above the integrated Radeon graphics found in many handhelds and mini PCs. It is most naturally a 1080p GPU and can make 1440p practical in games that offer sensible settings or upscaling. The result depends on the game, CPU, driver, memory configuration, display path and connection mode.
It is not equivalent to a full-power desktop Radeon card. External-link overhead is especially relevant over USB4, and an internal laptop display can require rendered frames to travel back through the external connection. Connecting the monitor directly to OneXGPU generally avoids that extra path.
Rank #2
- OneXGPU 2 supports laptops and Handheld PC with Thunderbolt 3/4, USB 4, or OCuLink ports. Also compatible with MSI Claw, but Not compatible with MacBook.

- Features up to 8TB SSD expansion (M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0), TF card slot, RJ45 ethernet port, and 2x USB-A 3.2 ports. Video output includes HDMI 2.1 (4k60Hz) and 2x DP 2.0 (4k120Hz), and supports 3 displays setup.
- The default GPU TDP is 130W, short press the Turbo Button to switch to 180W for more performance and press it again to set it back to 130W.
- Include a portable 300W GaN fast charger, with 65W laptop charging via USB-C 4.0, power your GPU and laptop simultaneously.
Early launch coverage estimated performance broadly around an RTX 4060 Laptop GPU, while a Japanese launch presentation claimed up to three times the performance of Ryzen 7 7840U integrated graphics. Those are launch-era comparisons, not a standardized OneXGPU benchmark result; treat them as directional rather than guaranteed. Tom’s Hardware and PC Watch document those early claims.
OCuLink versus USB4
| Connection | What it does best | Limits and requirements |
|---|---|---|
| OCuLink only | Highest GPU-link bandwidth; the manual describes PCIe 4.0 ×4 and approximately 63Gbps effective bandwidth. | Not hot-pluggable; no host charging; USB-A, Ethernet and M.2 storage are inactive. Connect with the host off or restart afterward. |
| USB4 only | Broader compatibility, hot-plug operation and full dock functions, including M.2, USB-A and Ethernet; up to 100W advertised reverse PD. | Lower effective GPU bandwidth (PC Watch describes USB4 as 40Gbps). Results depend on the host’s USB4 implementation, firmware, cable, drivers and display routing. |
| OCuLink + USB4 | OCuLink carries graphics while USB4 carries the SSD and dock ports. | Requires two cables and a host with both usable connections. It is the most capable arrangement, not the simplest. |
USB4 branding alone does not prove eGPU support. Confirm PCIe tunnelling, firmware behavior and charging support for the exact laptop, handheld or mini PC. Thunderbolt 3 or 4 may connect in some systems, but the port logo alone is not a guarantee of identical compatibility or performance.
How the M.2 SSD slot really works
The internal bay accepts an M.2 2280 NVMe drive. It can expand a handheld’s game library, hold work or media files, or make the unit a combined graphics-and-storage dock.
It is not an independent high-speed PCIe 4.0 link to the host. In USB4-only mode, the GPU, displays, USB-A, Ethernet and M.2 are active. In OCuLink-only mode, only the GPU and video outputs remain active. To use OCuLink for graphics while accessing the SSD, USB-A and Ethernet, connect a second USB4 cable.

There is an unresolved specification discrepancy. OneXPlayer’s current product and regional pages list the M.2 interface as PCIe 3.0, while Tom’s Hardware’s launch report described PCIe 2.0 (about 2GB/s at best). The manual confirms the routing behavior but does not settle the generation. Confirm the revision with the seller, and do not buy a flagship SSD expecting its rated internal-drive sequential speed. USB4 sharing, enclosure thermals and the interface limit can all reduce throughput.
Ports, displays and charging
OneXPlayer advertises support for up to four simultaneous displays through the two HDMI and two DisplayPort outputs. That is a manufacturer maximum, not a promise for every resolution and refresh-rate combination. Actual results depend on the host, operating system, drivers, monitor modes and whether a screen is attached to OneXGPU or directly to the computer.
The two USB-A ports and Gigabit Ethernet are useful for a desk setup, but they are unavailable in OCuLink-only mode. USB4 also advertises up to 100W reverse power delivery. The host must accept the relevant USB-C PD profile, and charging may be slower or insufficient while gaming. OCuLink never charges the host.
The supplied 330W adapter is part of the portability burden. The enclosure’s approximately 869g excludes the adapter, power lead, data cable, and any SSD.

Power modes
The manual describes a 100W default GPU mode. Press the Turbo button once to select 120W; press it again to return to 100W. The 120W setting can help when the workload is GPU-limited, but it does not remove USB4 bandwidth, CPU or driver limitations.
Windows setup
- Connect the 330W adapter to OneXGPU and press its power button.
- For USB4, connect a suitable USB4 cable to the host. The manual identifies USB4 as hot-pluggable.
- For OCuLink, connect while the host is powered off, or restart after connecting; do not treat it as hot-pluggable.
- Download the current RX 7600M XT driver from AMD’s support portal rather than relying on an old installer: AMD support.
- Open Windows Device Manager and verify that the Radeon GPU appears without an error symbol.
- If you want OCuLink graphics plus storage, USB-A or Ethernet, connect both OCuLink and USB4.
- After detection, attach monitors and peripherals to the OneXGPU and test the intended display and charging arrangement.
Troubleshooting and compatibility checks
GPU is not detected
- Check the adapter, power switch, cable and selected host port.
- Verify that the host supports USB4 eGPU operation or has a correctly wired OCuLink port.
- For OCuLink, shut down before connecting or restart afterward.
- Check Device Manager, AMD drivers, host BIOS/UEFI and firmware.
- Remove or clean up conflicting old AMD/NVIDIA external-GPU or switchable-graphics drivers if necessary.
OCuLink works but SSD, Ethernet or USB-A is missing
That is expected in OCuLink-only mode. Add USB4 to carry the dock traffic.
USB4 performance is disappointing
- Use a certified, short USB4 cable and current host firmware.
- Connect the monitor directly to OneXGPU where possible.
- Check whether the host CPU, game engine or 8GB VRAM limit is the bottleneck.
- Test the 120W Turbo mode instead of the default 100W setting.
SSD is slower than expected
- Allow for the documented PCIe 2.0/3.0 uncertainty and USB4 sharing.
- Check that the drive is NVMe M.2 2280, not SATA M.2 or another size.
- Consider enclosure temperature and thermal throttling.
- Remember that OCuLink-only mode disables the SSD.
Price, stock and model identification
The often-quoted $599 price was a November 2023 Indiegogo early-bird offer, not a current market price. PC Watch reported a January 2024 Japan launch price of ¥113,000, a ¥101,700 reservation price and a ¥6,800 OCuLink cable sold separately; those are historical Japan-market figures.
On August 18, 2026, the official store displayed the original RX 7600M XT OneXGPU as sold out, with a $759 list signal reduced to $660. Check live stock, region, customs, warranty handling and seller legitimacy before paying. Marketplace listings may be old stock, used devices, gray-market imports or the newer OneXGPU 2. Confirm that the listing explicitly says RX 7600M XT.

How it compares with the main alternatives
OneXGPU 2
The OneXGPU 2 is the newer OneXPlayer tier with a Radeon RX 7800M. Choose it when you want more modern GPU performance and accept a higher price; it is not the same product as this RX 7600M XT model.
GPD G1
GPD G1 is a close integrated-RX-7600M-XT comparison. PC Watch notes that it uses an internal 240W power supply, whereas OneXGPU uses an external 330W adapter. Compare the exact port selection, storage support, OCuLink/USB4 behavior, dimensions, availability and warranty for your region rather than assuming the GPUs alone determine the better buy.
Desktop eGPU enclosure
A larger enclosure lets you install a stronger desktop GPU and can deliver better performance per dollar, but it requires buying the graphics card and usually occupies more space. OneXGPU’s advantage is an integrated, relatively compact system.
OCuLink adapter plus your own GPU
Technically minded users can pair an OCuLink adapter with a desktop GPU and suitable power supply. That route offers upgrade flexibility and potentially more performance, but it sacrifices OneXGPU’s integrated enclosure, dock ports and simple power design.
Who should buy the original OneXGPU?
- Consider it if your host has confirmed OCuLink or USB4 eGPU support, you want a substantial integrated-graphics upgrade, and a discounted unit includes the dock, display, Ethernet and optional storage functions you need.
- Prefer OCuLink for a permanent desk setup or maximum GPU throughput.
- Use USB4 when hot-plugging and one-cable dock convenience matter more than peak frames.
- Use both when you need OCuLink graphics performance and simultaneous SSD, USB-A and Ethernet access.
- Avoid it if the host lacks confirmed eGPU support, you expect desktop RX 7600 XT or RTX 4070-class performance, require a fast PCIe 4.0 external SSD, need a truly lightweight travel accessory, or can buy a newer eGPU at a similar price.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The original OneXGPU remains a well-integrated RX 7600M XT eGPU dock for compatible handhelds, mini PCs and laptops. Its best configuration is OCuLink for graphics plus USB4 for dock features, while USB4 alone is the convenient but slower option. Buy mainly at a clear discount after confirming host compatibility, the M.2 revision and genuine RX 7600M XT stock; at prices near newer eGPUs, its mobile GPU and uncertain availability make the value difficult to justify.
