But e-signing alone does not eliminate the manual work that can delay a bank agreement. OneSpan describes its product capabilities and customer outcomes; the case studies are vendor-reported examples, not independent evaluations or guarantees.
Why a bank agreement can take longer than signing
OneSpan’s September 23, 2026 article argues that the signature itself may take seconds while surrounding tasks stretch the process. Those tasks can include preparing documents, verifying identity, completing compliance review, finding missing or mismatched paperwork, and correcting exceptions. Digitizing the act of signing addresses only part of that work.

For a bank, the practical question is therefore not just whether a customer can sign electronically. It is which steps the workflow automates, which still require staff, and how exceptions are caught and resolved. OneSpan describes Not In Good Order (NIGO) validation as checking supporting documents for type, completeness, quality, and required information. Its H1 2026 update described some NIGO capabilities as early access, so availability should be confirmed for a specific deployment; the vendor’s material does not establish independently verified accuracy.
What OneSpan says its bank workflow can do
OneSpan’s case study describes an unnamed large North American bank using its solution across investments, consumer lending, online deposit-account opening, and contracting and procurement. The described process collected customer data, generated and reviewed documents, obtained consent, captured signatures on a tablet or signature pad, and routed signed records to the bank’s content-management system. The bank could make records available through an email link, online banking, or branch printing.
#1 Best Overall
- 3rd-generation touch-screen signing surface for cost efficiency
- LCD display for customizability
- Small size and weight for portability
- High-quality biometric and forensic capture
- Printer output: Monochrome
That is one customer implementation, not a standard setup promised to every bank. It illustrates the workflow idea: connect document creation and signing to the systems that store and deliver completed records, rather than treating the signature as the end of the process.
OneSpan identifies nCino, MeridianLink, and Lendesk as lending-platform integrations and says it offers APIs and SDKs for workflow customization. A separate H1 2026 update names a Workato integration. Banks should verify the exact integration, deployment status, plan, geography, and implementation requirements with OneSpan before relying on any of these for a particular project.

What the customer figures show—and what they do not
OneSpan’s case-study pages report results for particular customer deployments. The figures below are vendor-reported; the pages do not state publication years for these outcomes, and the results are not independent benchmarks or a forecast for another bank.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems| Deployment described by OneSpan | Reported result | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Unnamed large North American bank | 75% reduction in document error rates | OneSpan-reported result; year not stated on the case-study page. |
| Same bank | 2–3 hours saved per staff member per week | OneSpan says the time had previously gone to paperwork preparation, checking, scanning, and archiving; year not stated. |
| Same bank | Approximately 16,000 sales-administration hours saved | OneSpan-reported deployment outcome; year not stated. |
| Unnamed financial institution’s treasury service agreements | Average cycle time reduced from four days to two days or less | OneSpan-reported result for this institution’s treasury workflow; year not stated. |
| Same treasury workflow | Approximately 60 forms and 600–700 agreements per month | OneSpan-reported volume; year not stated. |
The scale and workflow matter: a result from a particular bank or treasury process does not establish what another institution will achieve. OneSpan’s case study quotes an unnamed bank executive describing inefficiency and repeat visits to complete transactions, but does not identify the speaker by name or more specific role.

How banks should evaluate an e-signature workflow
For a bank assessing OneSpan Sign or another digital-agreement system, compare the end-to-end workflow rather than the signature screen alone:
- Automation boundary: Identify which document preparation, identity checks, review, routing, and recordkeeping tasks are automated and which remain manual.
- Validation and exceptions: Ask what makes a document NIGO, how incomplete or poor-quality files are flagged, who resolves them, and what controls prevent a transaction from moving forward prematurely.
- Integration fit: Confirm how the system connects to the bank’s loan-origination, core banking, and content-management systems, and which integrations are actually available for the intended configuration.
- Signer channels and accessibility: Check the experience for branch and remote customers, supported devices, and how consent and completed records are delivered.
- Identity, security, and audit evidence: Review how identity verification, security controls, and evidence of the agreement process meet the bank’s requirements.
- Jurisdiction and implementation: Establish applicable geographic and regulatory requirements, deployment scope, responsibilities, and integration effort before comparing projected benefits.
OneSpan’s materials discuss workflow automation, integrations, signing channels, and audit evidence, but do not provide a neutral comparative test against other providers. Independent validation of the vendor’s product and impact claims is not established by the sources cited here.

What OneSpan’s examples mean for customers
For a customer, the potential benefit is fewer avoidable delays caused by missing paperwork or repeated visits—not a guarantee that every bank agreement will be instant. Whether a specific customer sees that improvement depends on the bank’s configuration, the documents involved, and its review and compliance processes.
OneSpan’s retail-banking page quotes Clarien Bank’s Chief Digital & Marketing Officer Michael Decouto describing a roadmap to digitize account opening and other banking applications. That statement signals a bank’s digital ambitions; it does not establish that every such process is already available through OneSpan Sign or in every market.
