The OnePlus 12R and OnePlus Nord 6 make different hardware trade-offs: the 12R has a specified Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and an LTPO display with a dynamic 1–120Hz refresh rate, while OnePlus lists a 165Hz display and a larger 7500mAh battery for the Nord 6. OnePlus’s official pages do not establish a current, like-for-like price difference, so which costs less depends on your country, configuration and current listings.
OnePlus 12R vs Nord 6: key specifications
The specifications below come from OnePlus product pages. The 12R figures are from OnePlus’s US page; Nord 6 details come from regional OnePlus pages, so confirm the exact variant available in your market before buying.

Where the hardware differences matter
Display: 120Hz LTPO versus 165Hz
The 12R’s LTPO panel is specified to vary its refresh rate dynamically from 1Hz to 120Hz. OnePlus lists the Nord 6 at up to 165Hz. That is a higher stated maximum, but refresh-rate figures alone do not show which screen looks better or feels smoother in every app; resolution, brightness, content and software behavior also matter. Both are listed at 6.78 inches, while the 12R page gives a precise 2780 × 1264 resolution and the Nord 6 page describes its panel as 1.5K.
Performance: the 12R has the clearer chip specification
OnePlus identifies the 12R’s processor as Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The Nord 6 page uses Snapdragon 8-series positioning without naming the precise chip in the cited passage. That is not enough information for a reliable direct speed ranking. OnePlus also presents Nord 6 performance and gaming figures as manufacturer test claims; they are not independent comparative test results.

Battery: Nord 6 has the higher listed capacity
OnePlus lists a typical 5500mAh dual-cell battery for the 12R and a 7500mAh battery for the Nord 6. Both pages specify 80W charging. Capacity is a specification, not a controlled battery-life comparison: actual endurance varies with display settings, signal, apps and use. The numbers do not establish how much longer either phone lasts in a comparable real-world test.
Cameras: compare more than megapixels
The 12R specification lists a 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP macro and a 16MP front camera. The Nord 6 page lists a 50MP Sony main camera with dual-axis OIS, an 8MP ultrawide and a 32MP front camera. These specifications do not establish which phone takes better photos: megapixel counts and sensor names are not substitutes for matched image samples or camera testing.
Durability and support need regional verification
The cited Nord 6 page lists IP66/68/69/69K protection. The consulted US 12R specifications page does not list a directly comparable rating; that omission does not prove that every 12R variant lacks a rating. Check the documentation for the exact regional model before treating water and dust protection as a deciding difference. For software, OnePlus’s 12R US page specifies at least three Android OS upgrade generations and four years of security updates from launch. The Nord 6 page advertises six years of updates but does not fully break down the update types in the cited passage, so the periods should not be treated as directly equivalent promises.

There is no responsible universal price gap to quote from the official material available here. OnePlus’s January 23, 2024 12R launch announcement is historical launch context, not a current matched price source. The cited Nord 6 product pages describe features but do not provide a comparable current selling price for both phones.
To find the actual difference, compare listings in the same country for the same RAM and storage configuration, and check whether each figure is an official list price or a live retailer offer. A discounted 12R, a different Nord 6 memory tier, or an import listing can change the result; prices in different currencies or from different dates should not be presented as a like-for-like comparison.
Which phone should you choose?
Consider the OnePlus 12R if
- You want the precisely identified Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 configuration listed by OnePlus.
- You value its LTPO display and dynamic 1–120Hz specification over the Nord 6’s higher stated refresh-rate ceiling.
- The 12R is the better-priced option in your market for the configuration you would actually buy.
Consider the OnePlus Nord 6 if
- You prioritize the larger listed 7500mAh battery and 165Hz display specification.
- The listed IP protection or 32MP front camera suits your priorities, after verifying the exact regional variant.
- Its current local price and clearly stated software-support terms make sense for your needs.
Neither spec sheet proves an overall winner. The 12R has the more explicit chipset identification in the cited material; the Nord 6 leads on listed battery capacity and maximum refresh rate. Choose based on the trade-offs that matter to you and a current, same-market price check.
