The first thing to check is which Motorola Edge 70 Fusion is sold in your market: Motorola’s official pages list different chipsets and battery capacities across regions. On the published US specifications, the OnePlus 12R stands out for its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, up to 16 GB of RAM, LTPO display and stated software-update commitment. The Edge 70 Fusion lists a display rated up to 144 Hz and, depending on the regional configuration, a larger battery and durability ratings. There is no verified same-market price comparison here, so a reliable price gap cannot be stated.
Why the Edge 70 Fusion’s region matters
Motorola’s specifications do not describe one universal Edge 70 Fusion configuration. Its US support page lists a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and a 7,000 mAh battery. Motorola’s global announcement instead describes a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 and a 5,200 mAh battery; the Japan store page lists the Gen 3 processor with a 7,000 mAh battery.

What the specification differences mean for a buyer
Processor and memory
The OnePlus 12R’s US listing pairs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with a configuration offering up to 16 GB RAM. Motorola’s listed Edge 70 Fusion configurations vary by market, with the US support page offering up to 12 GB RAM and identifying a different Snapdragon 7s-series processor. These specifications establish the listed hardware, but they do not by themselves prove how fast either phone feels in everyday use or in games.
Display refresh rate
The Motorola is rated for a maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz, while the OnePlus uses a dynamic LTPO display ranging from 1 to 120 Hz. A higher stated maximum is not a complete measure of display quality: it does not establish brightness, color accuracy, viewing behavior or how often an app uses the maximum rate.

Battery capacity and charging
Motorola’s published capacity figures range from 5,200 mAh in the global announcement to 7,000 mAh on its US support and Japan store pages. The OnePlus US page lists 5,500 mAh and 80 W charging; Motorola lists 68 W TurboPower for its 7,000 mAh configurations. Capacity and charging ratings are manufacturer specifications, not independent evidence of real-world battery life or charging time.

Cameras and durability
The listed camera hardware differs in resolution and configuration, but those numbers do not settle photo or video quality. Independent testing of the exact regional models would be needed for a meaningful image-quality comparison. Motorola’s US specification page expressly lists IP68/IP69 and MIL-STD-810H; the cited OnePlus page names Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the display cover but does not provide an IP rating. An absent rating on that page is not proof that the phone has no water or dust protection.
Software support
OnePlus gives a specific commitment on its US 12R specification page: at least three generations of Android OS upgrades and four years of security updates from launch. Motorola’s reviewed US and Japan pages list Android 16 but do not state a directly comparable update duration. Check the regional support policy for the exact Edge 70 Fusion before buying if update longevity is a deciding factor.

Motorola Japan’s official store lists the Edge 70 Fusion at JPY 79,800 including tax, with planned availability on 2026-10-23. That is a Japan-specific listing with a scheduled release date after the research date, not a current price for other markets. Motorola’s global announcement says local pricing and availability vary. A current OnePlus 12R price for the same market was not verified, so a numeric price difference would be misleading.

Quick Recap
Which phone fits which priorities?
- Consider the OnePlus 12R if the published US configuration’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 16 GB RAM option, LTPO display or explicit update-duration commitment matters most to you.
- Consider the Edge 70 Fusion if your local version’s 144 Hz maximum display refresh rate, listed battery capacity, camera configuration or published US durability ratings suit your priorities. Verify the local model’s chipset and battery before deciding.
- Compare local prices before choosing on value. The available Japan price is not a like-for-like comparison with a verified OnePlus price.
