Samsung’s One UI 9 rollout is expanding, but a small number of Galaxy A57 owners have reported trouble after installing it. Their descriptions differ: some say the phone will not boot, while others say an XML error blocks the One UI 9 introduction screen. Samsung has not publicly confirmed the issue or explained its cause in the reporting available as of October 12, 2026.
One UI 9 rollout: what Samsung has announced
Samsung Electronics America said on September 16, 2026, that the One UI 9 expansion began with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, S26+ and S26, following the software’s debut on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8 and Z Flip8. Samsung said the update would gradually reach other Galaxy devices; it did not give a date for every model, region or carrier. Samsung’s announcement is the official source for that rollout statement.

Separate coverage reported the stable Android 17-based One UI 9 update reaching Galaxy A57 users in South Korea and, by October 12, several European markets. SammyGuru’s tracker places the South Korean appearance on October 6 and the European expansion on October 12. These dates describe reported availability, not a guarantee that every A57 variant or carrier received the update at the same time.

What Galaxy A57 owners say is going wrong
Reports published October 12 describe an XML file error or a One UI 9 introduction screen that fails to load, leaving the owner unable to continue. Another account characterizes the problem as the phone not booting. Those are materially different symptoms, and the available reporting does not establish whether they share one cause or affect more than a small number of devices. The phrase “XML file error” is a description in reports, not a confirmed Samsung bug name.

AndroidPure reported that Samsung had not announced the A57 rollout or commented on the reported problem as of its publication time. SammyGuru also described the XML screen and owner accounts, without a Samsung explanation. Neither report establishes a prevalence rate, a confirmed software defect, or an official fix.
What to do if your A57 is affected
First, identify the exact update and symptom
- Note the phone’s full model or regional variant, country, carrier, software build and the date the update installed.
- Record whether the device fails to boot at all, or boots to an introduction screen that will not proceed. The distinction may help support staff understand what is happening.
- If the phone is usable, check Settings > Software update > Download and install for available updates. A phased rollout means availability can differ by model, region and carrier.
Safe Mode is an owner-reported workaround, not a confirmed fix
Some owners reportedly said restarting in Safe Mode helped them get past the problem. The reports do not establish a reliable procedure, explain why it might work, or show that it resolves the underlying issue. Treat it as an anecdotal workaround rather than Samsung guidance; do not assume it will work on every affected phone.

Contact Samsung if the phone remains unusable
Samsung says One UI 9 provides diagnostics and access to Care+ management, repair estimates and service booking through Settings. These options may be useful if the phone can still be operated, but availability can vary by region. If it cannot be used to reach Settings, contact Samsung support through the support channel available in your country and describe the model, build, update date and exact screen or boot behavior.

The Galaxy A57 accounts are early owner reports, not evidence that One UI 9 has a widespread problem. Android Central’s September 16 coverage gives context on the S26 rollout and features including My FanCam and customizable Now Brief cards, but it does not verify the later A57 issue. A separate Samsung Community search-result snippet mentioned an S26 Ultra complaint that quick-panel menus closed after an October 5 update; because the page could not be independently opened, it is weak anecdotal evidence and should not be conflated with the A57 XML/setup reports.

For now, the useful distinction is between Samsung’s confirmed gradual rollout and unconfirmed reports of device-specific trouble. The rollout announcement does not confirm the A57 problem, and the owner accounts do not establish a common cause or a Samsung-issued remedy.
