Luffy is the strongest Straw Hat in combat at the end of the Egghead-era material used here. Roronoa Zoro and Sanji form the next tier, while Jinbe is a provisional fourth based on his battles and defensive consistency. Franky, Nico Robin, Brook, Nami, Tony Tony Chopper, and Usopp follow in a much less certain order because their specialties, equipment, and circumstances differ sharply.
This is an editorial ranking of demonstrated fighting capability, not an official list and not a ranking of bounties, popularity, usefulness, or total crew value. The story cutoff is manga chapter 1122 (August 2024); later chapters or new anime material can change close placements.

How this Straw Hat strength ranking works
“Strength” here means what a crewmate has reliably shown in combat: performance against high-level opponents, ability to damage or restrain them, endurance, versatility, and how consistently the character can use those tools. A dramatic single attack does not automatically outweigh repeated battle performance.

The official Bandai Namco character feature published on February 10, 2023 is useful for identifying the nine characters it profiles and their game-described abilities, but it does not rank them and omits Jinbe. Its descriptions are therefore treated as role and ability context, not proof of a canon power order.

The ranking has three confidence bands. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji have a comparatively clear order because of repeated fights against top officers and emperors. Jinbe through Brook are competitive middle placements whose order can change with the matchup. Nami, Chopper, and Usopp have powerful or valuable tools but fewer recent one-on-one victories, making their exact order the least certain.

| 10 | Usopp | Exceptional range, observation potential and tactical ammunition, but few recent decisive wins | Low |
1. Monkey D. Luffy — strongest Straw Hat
Luffy’s lead is the least controversial. His elastic body, a wide range of Gear forms and all three types of Haki let him attack, defend and adapt at a level no other Straw Hat has matched. In Wano, he learned advanced Armament and later advanced Conqueror’s Haki, then awakened the power he calls Gear 5. That combination allowed him to fight Kaido through multiple defeats and ultimately win.
Gear 5 is not simply a larger strength mode. It gives Luffy extraordinary freedom of movement and lets his rubber-like properties affect the environment, while his Haki remains the principal source of high-end damage. The form consumes enormous energy, so “strongest” does not mean unlimited stamina. Even with that cost, Luffy has the crew’s best record against emperor-class opposition and the broadest set of answers to different fighting styles.
Role and value
Luffy is the captain and the crew’s decisive front-line fighter. His leadership, ability to inspire allies and willingness to take the final risk are separate from the combat score; they explain why his overall importance is even greater than his rank suggests.
2. Roronoa Zoro — the closest challenger
Zoro is the Straw Hat most capable of threatening Luffy in a direct exchange, although the gap between an emperor and his first mate remains meaningful. His three-sword style, Armament Haki and Conqueror’s Haki coating combine with exceptional pain tolerance. During the rooftop battle in Wano, he temporarily held off attacks from Kaido and Big Mom and scarred Kaido with Asura.
His victory over King shows the difference between an impressive technique and a sustained high-level performance. Zoro had to understand King’s flame-based defense, manage Enma’s demand for Haki and land a Conqueror’s-coated finishing attack. The cost is control: Enma can drain him, and his best output is harder to maintain than Luffy’s ordinary fighting pace.
Role and value
Zoro is the crew’s combatant and swordsman. Bandai Namco’s feature describes him as one of the crew’s most powerful fighters; the manga’s Wano battles support that broad description without making him equal to Luffy.

3. Sanji — speed, durability and technical power
Sanji’s post-Wano ceiling is far above the version who entered the Grand Line. His latent genetic modifications awakened during the fight with Queen, increasing his speed, strength, durability and recovery. His exoskeleton and rapid healing let him survive attacks that would incapacitate most crew members, while his enhanced movement produced the near-invisible Ifrit Jambe attacks that defeated Queen.
Sanji’s observation skills and aerial mobility make him difficult to hit. He also fights without using his hands, preserving them for cooking, as the Bandai Namco description notes. That self-imposed rule does not make him weaker in practice: his kicking techniques, heat and speed provide a complete offense. He ranks below Zoro because his best confirmed opponents and Haki demonstrations have not reached the same level of destructive output, not because he lacks versatility.
Role and value
Sanji is the cook and a principal fighter. His food keeps the crew operating, and his combat style is built around protecting his hands for that job.
4. Jinbe — a provisional fourth
Jinbe’s placement is the most important qualification in this list. He is ranked fourth using his canon battles through the stated cutoff, but the official game feature used for role descriptions does not profile him, and the accessible source material in this assignment does not establish a definitive order. Treat this as a reasoned editorial placement, not an official position.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesJinbe brings decades of experience, Armament Haki, formidable physical strength and Fish-Man Karate, which can transmit force through an opponent’s body or surrounding water. In Whole Cake Island he briefly resisted Big Mom’s pressure and helped the crew escape. In Wano he defeated Who’s-Who, a former government agent and a highly capable Tobi Roppo, while protecting allies under difficult conditions.
Jinbe’s advantages are reliability and defense. He does not depend on a transformation with a severe time limit, and his techniques become more dangerous near water. Against an opponent who can deny him space or exploit his lower speed, the gap between Jinbe and the next tier narrows. That matchup sensitivity is why the fourth-place claim is provisional rather than absolute.
Role and value
Jinbe serves as the crew’s helmsman and veteran maritime fighter. His navigation under pressure and knowledge of the sea add value that a combat ranking cannot measure.

5. Franky — engineering turned into heavy combat power
Franky’s body is a weapons platform, and the Thousand Sunny is his largest expression of that engineering skill. The Franky Shogun gives him armor, reach and heavy weapons; lasers, radical beams, firearms and mechanical strength let him fight opponents who would overwhelm a normal human. In Wano he defeated Sasaki, a dinosaur-form Tobi Roppo, after a prolonged battle that damaged the Shogun and forced him to keep improvising.
Franky lacks the Haki feats of the top four, so his ranking depends more on equipment and battlefield conditions. The Shogun can be disabled or separated from him, and rebuilding it takes resources. When his machines are intact, however, his range, toughness and willingness to absorb damage make him one of the crew’s most dependable mid-tier combatants.
Role and value
Franky is the shipwright and cyborg engineer. The official feature highlights his ability to build and repair ships; that occupational contribution is indispensable even when he is not fighting.
6. Nico Robin — dangerous control and burst damage
Robin’s Flower-Flower Fruit lets her sprout limbs across surfaces and opponents. That power is exceptionally effective for restraint, joint locks and surprise attacks, and her giant limbs can control a large area. In Wano, she revealed Demonio Fleur and defeated Black Maria, a Tobi Roppo, after enduring a prolonged fight and using techniques that combine physical force with fear and deception.
Robin is not ranked higher because her body remains vulnerable when an opponent breaks her holds, and her largest techniques consume stamina. She also has less Haki-based offense than the fighters above her. In a confined space or against an enemy vulnerable to immobilization, she can outperform this numerical rank; in a prolonged exchange against a heavily armored Haki user, the matchup is worse.

Role and value
Robin is the archaeologist and the only crewmate able to interpret the world’s most important historical records. Her ability to read Poneglyphs has strategic value unrelated to how many opponents she can defeat.
7. Brook — speed, swordsmanship and soul techniques
Brook combines fencing with the powers of his Revive-Revive Fruit. His soul can leave his body, chill targets and interact with supernatural phenomena that ordinary weapons cannot address. He has repeatedly used speed and precision to protect allies, including during the Whole Cake Island escape, and his music can affect morale or create openings in combat.

Brook’s unusual physiology gives him advantages against fear, pain and some forms of physical injury, but he lacks the raw durability and finishing power demonstrated by Franky or Robin against elite New World opponents. His best results often come from infiltration, support and exploiting a specific weakness. That makes seventh place a practical estimate rather than a claim that he loses every direct duel to the characters below him.
Role and value
Brook is the musician and a swordsman. His presence raises morale, while his soul abilities make him particularly useful against supernatural or stealth-based threats.
8. Nami — fragile body, exceptional weather offense
Nami’s combat power is concentrated in the Clima-Tact and the weather effects she can produce with it. After Whole Cake Island, Zeus became part of her arsenal, giving her lightning attacks capable of seriously injuring major opponents. In Wano, that firepower helped her defeat Ulti after the battle had already pushed both fighters to their limits.
She ranks below Brook because her physical durability and close-range defense are poor, and Zeus is a specialized partner rather than a universal answer. Nami is most dangerous when she has distance, time to read conditions and a clear shot. In those circumstances her damage can exceed the numerical ranking; if an enemy reaches her before she sets up, the advantage disappears quickly.
Role and value
Nami is the navigator. Weather reading, route selection and emergency steering keep the crew alive at sea, a form of value that cannot be converted into a fighting score.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.9. Tony Tony Chopper — enormous potential, uneven battle record
Chopper’s Human-Human Fruit gives him multiple forms, and Monster Point supplies tremendous physical strength. His medical knowledge also lets him diagnose and counter poisons or viruses that would end another fighter’s participation. In Wano, he resisted Queen’s Ice Oni virus and helped produce a treatment while fighting to protect the samurai and pirates around him.

The reason Chopper sits ninth is not that Monster Point is weak. It is that the form has historically imposed time and control limits, and Chopper has fewer recent victories over named top-tier opponents than Franky, Robin or Brook. His medical intervention can decide a battle without appearing on a knockout list, so this rank should never be read as a ranking of his usefulness.
Best Value
- PlayStation 5 Bandai Namco ONE PIECE ODYSSEY Video Game
Role and value
Chopper is the doctor. The Bandai Namco feature identifies his Human-Human Fruit transformation, while the manga repeatedly shows that treating injuries and battlefield diseases is his central contribution.
10. Usopp — the weakest in a straight fight, not an irrelevant crewmate
Usopp is last only under a narrow, direct-combat definition. His slingshot accuracy, Pop Greens, traps and long-range observation potential let him influence a fight before an opponent can approach. In Dressrosa he used an extraordinary long-distance shot to save allies, and his tactical decisions have repeatedly turned impossible situations into survivable ones.
He has not matched the recent decisive victories of the other Straw Hats, and his durability in close combat remains a major limitation. His ranking can change dramatically with preparation, terrain and information: a sniper who chooses the battlefield may be more dangerous than a stronger fighter forced into an open duel. That distinction is why combat rank and crew value must remain separate.

Usopp is the sharpshooter and an inventive problem-solver. The official feature specifically describes his accurate slingshot use; his practical value also includes repairs, scouting and creating specialized ammunition.
What this order does—and does not—tell you
- It is not a bounty list. Bounties reflect threat, information and government assessment as well as fighting ability, so they cannot be read as a clean power scale.
- The middle is matchup-dependent. Franky’s armor, Robin’s restraints, Brook’s soul powers and Nami’s lightning do not interact with opponents in the same way.
- Conditions matter. Water benefits Jinbe; distance benefits Nami and Usopp; machinery benefits Franky; stamina and transformation limits affect Chopper and Luffy.
- Roles are a separate axis. Navigation, medicine, archaeology, cooking, shipbuilding, music and helming are reasons the crew needs each member, not bonus points in a duel.
Role and combat ability are different rankings

| Nami | Navigator | Weather reading, Clima-Tact and Zeus |
| Usopp | Sharpshooter | Accurate slingshot fire, traps and specialized ammunition |
| Sanji | Cook | Kick-based martial arts, speed and genetic enhancements |
| Chopper | Doctor | Human-Human Fruit forms and Monster Point |
| Robin | Archaeologist | Flower-Flower Fruit limbs and Demonio Fleur |
| Franky | Shipwright | Cyborg body, Franky Shogun and heavy weapons |
| Brook | Musician | Swordsmanship, soul projection and cold-based powers |
| Jinbe | Helmsman | Fish-Man Karate, Armament Haki and veteran experience |
How certain is the Jinbe placement?
Jinbe is the largest unresolved variable in a list built from the supplied official material because that feature profiles nine Straw Hats and does not include him. The fourth-place position above therefore comes from his story battles through chapter 1122, not from a Bandai Namco ranking or an official character chart. Readers who weigh his Whole Cake Island defense, Fish-Man Karate and Wano victory most heavily can place him beside Sanji; readers who prioritize speed and post-awakening power may put him below Sanji by a wider margin.
The same caution applies to every close middle placement. A new transformation, a confirmed Haki ability or a full fight against a stronger opponent can move Franky through Brook several places without changing the basic conclusion that Luffy leads the crew.
Using a game to explore the crew
ONE PIECE ODYSSEY is an official role-playing game featuring Straw Hat characters on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, as listed by Bandai Namco. It can be a fun way to experiment with crew abilities, but game statistics and party balance are not evidence for a canon strength ranking.
