One Piece Bounty Rush tier list FAQ (October 2026): rerolling, upgrades, and team building

Short answer: treat any One Piece Bounty Rush tier list as a dated community snapshot, not an official or permanent ranking. As of October 13, 2026, Pocket Gamer (updated October 7, version 7.5) and OPBR Guide (updated October 10 UTC) agree that The Four Emperors Monkey D. Luffy is top-tier, but they disagree on several other characters. Build around the 4v4 treasure-capture objective, cover useful roles and elemental matchups, and invest in support, medals, and character-type effects rather than chasing a tier label alone.

One Piece Bounty Rush tier list: what the October 2026 snapshot actually says

There is no Bandai Namco master ranking that permanently defines the best characters. Community lists are opinions based on the writers’ criteria, the current version, and the way the game is being played when the list is published. Characters can move after new releases, balance changes, or a shift in the league environment.

Two current lists are useful precisely because they show that uncertainty. Pocket Gamer’s page says it was updated October 7, 2026, for version 7.5. Its SS tier is unusually broad and includes The Four Emperors Monkey D. Luffy, Legendary Hero Monkey D. Garp, and Blackbeard Pirates Kuzan. OPBR Guide’s unofficial list was updated October 10, 2026 UTC. It places The Four Emperors Monkey D. Luffy in SS, The Wings Zoro & Sanji in S, and several well-known characters in A.

SS includes The Four Emperors Monkey D. Luffy, Legendary Hero Monkey D. Garp, and Blackbeard Pirates Kuzan. The SS tier contains many entries beyond these examples. Broad shortlist of characters the publisher considers excellent in the stated version; do not assume every SS entry fills the same role.
OPBR Guide (unofficial)

SS: The Four Emperors Monkey D. Luffy
S: The Wings Zoro & Sanji
A: Gol D. Roger; Flame Emperor Sabo; Blackbeard Pirates Kuzan; The Four Emperors Marshall D. Teach; King; Winner Island Trafalgar Law
A narrower snapshot that explicitly weighs several practical performance factors.

OPBR Guide says its evaluation considers league performance, meta impact, role value, versatility, ease of use, and matchup strength. Those are sensible questions to ask of any list. The disagreement is a warning not to average letters mechanically: a character can be excellent in one role, difficult to use, or dependent on a matchup while still receiving a high tier.

What the game rewards: treasure first, kills second

Bandai Namco describes Bounty Rush as a 4v4 zone-capture battle. Teams win by capturing and holding treasure, so a character’s value cannot be reduced to the number of opponents defeated. The official How to Play guide divides characters into three broad classes:

  • Attackers specialize in defeating enemies and creating openings.
  • Defenders specialize in protecting treasure that your team already controls.
  • Runners specialize in reaching and capturing treasure.

These labels are a starting point rather than a mandatory team formula. A strong attacker that never converts a won fight into a capture may contribute less than a modestly rated runner who takes the decisive flag. Likewise, a defender’s value often appears in the seconds an opponent fails to remove them, not in a damage screenshot.

Elemental matchups matter

The official guide lists red, blue, green, white, and black elements. Favorable matchups increase damage, while unfavorable matchups decrease it. When choosing between two similarly developed characters, ask which one gives your roster a better answer to the elements you are meeting in your league. A high tier does not erase an unfavorable matchup, and a lower-listed character can become useful when it covers a hole in your lineup.

Should I reroll?

Only reroll when you have checked the live banner, its rules, and your platform and have a clear reason to abandon the account. The current sources do not establish a verified reset procedure, active-banner schedule, summon rates, guaranteed results, or a defensible universal target list. Because those details change and can differ by event, giving a fixed reroll recipe would risk telling you to use a menu path or pull strategy that is no longer correct.

A safe reroll decision checklist

  1. Open the current in-game summon screen and read the banner name, featured characters, dates, rates, and any guarantee text. Do not rely on an old video or screenshot.
  2. Confirm that the information applies to your edition: Steam and mobile operate separate ranking and league systems, and event availability can be platform-specific.
  3. Decide what your first account needs to do in matches: capture treasure, hold it, defeat enemies, or cover a particular element. A role you can play consistently is more useful than a famous name you cannot use effectively.
  4. Check the account-linking and reset options shown by the game itself before spending resources. If the current interface does not clearly explain recovery, keep the account rather than guessing.
  5. Stop when you have a workable starting roster. Repeating resets for a marginal tier difference costs time and can leave you with no developed support or medals.

There is no evidence here for a guaranteed “best pull,” a current banner recommendation, or a specific number of summons. Verify those facts in the live game and official event information before making a reroll decision.

Who should I upgrade first?

Bandai Namco’s official guidance names three team-development levers: upgrading support characters, setting medals, and using Character Type Effects. It does not publish a universal cost table, level threshold, or one investment order that is optimal for every account. Your first upgrades should therefore improve the team you can actually field, not merely chase the highest letter on a community list.

1. Develop a dependable match character

Choose the character whose role you understand and whose element and skills fit your current matches. Concentrated investment makes a usable main character sooner than spreading every resource across a large collection of unbuilt units. If your roster already has a reliable attacker, a defender or runner may add more practical value than a second attacker.

2. Strengthen support characters

Support characters affect the performance of the team you bring into battle. Upgrade support with the same care you give the headline unit, checking which traits and elements improve the lineup you use. The official guide specifically identifies support upgrades as a way to build a top-class team; it does not claim that one universal support roster is best.

3. Set and refine medals

Medals are another official team-building option. Treat the medal screen as part of character development, not as a final cosmetic step. Match the bonuses to the job your character performs: a runner needs a build that helps it reach and secure treasure, while a defender or attacker may value different survivability or combat priorities. The available guidance does not establish exact best-in-slot sets or costs, so test the settings against your own role and roster rather than copying an unverified formula.

4. Use Character Type Effects

Character Type Effects provide another way to tune a team. Review which effects your selected characters can activate together, then compare that benefit with the elemental coverage and role coverage you would lose by changing the lineup. A small improvement that applies every match can be more valuable than a theoretical tier upgrade that leaves a tactical gap.

5. Avoid unsupported “optimal” numbers

No verified source in this snapshot supplies universal upgrade costs, thresholds, or a mandatory investment sequence. If a guide gives exact figures, check that it names the same game version and platform before treating them as current.

How do I build a good team?

Start with the win condition, then assemble a roster that can perform it under pressure. The following process is more durable than copying a four-character list from a dated tier page.

  1. Define the job of each slot. Identify who creates a knockout or opening, who protects a captured treasure, and who can make or contest a capture. You do not need a fixed class ratio; you do need a plan for both taking and holding treasure.
  2. Cover more than one tactical answer. If every character depends on winning the same kind of fight, one counter can stop the whole team. Combine role strengths so the team can change pace after the first capture or a failed engagement.
  3. Check elements before locking in. The five listed elements—red, blue, green, white, and black—interact through favorable and unfavorable damage matchups. Prefer a lineup that is not helpless when the opposing team brings a common counter to your main character.
  4. Build around the character you can operate. Ease of use and matchup strength are legitimate tier-list criteria. A theoretically dominant unit that you cannot position, protect, or time correctly may produce less value than a slightly lower-listed unit you consistently use well.
  5. Connect medals, support, and type effects to the same plan. These systems should reinforce the roles in your lineup. Do not spend blindly on isolated characters whose bonuses never reach the team you take into league.
  6. Review the result by objective. After matches, ask whether the team lost because it could not win fights, could not hold treasure, could not reach a flag, or lacked an elemental answer. Change the part that failed instead of replacing the highest-rated character automatically.

Why two tier lists can disagree

Tier letters compress several different judgments into one label. One publisher may reward broad usefulness and place many characters in SS; another may separate performance more aggressively. Lists can also be written on different dates, after different releases, or for different assumptions about league play and player skill.

Use update dates as part of the data. The October 7 Pocket Gamer page is tied to version 7.5, while OPBR Guide’s page is dated October 10, 2026 UTC. A new character, balance adjustment, or change in popular matchups can make an older placement less useful without making the original list dishonest. When sources conflict, compare the underlying questions—role value, versatility, ease of use, matchup strength, and league performance—instead of declaring one letter objectively correct.

Platform, availability, and spending context

Bandai Namco’s customer-support FAQ says that “In the PC version (Steam) and the mobile version, ”various rankings” and ”league ranks” are managed separately.” Read leaderboard and league claims within the platform on which they were observed; a standing on one platform is not automatically a standing on the other.

The official game site lists the game on the App Store, Google Play, and Steam. It describes the game as free to play with some paid items and loot boxes. That monetization context is relevant to reroll decisions, but it does not create a verified purchase recommendation or guarantee a particular character. Check the live store and in-game notices for the edition and region you use.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Treating SS as a win button: a tier does not replace treasure-focused play, role coverage, or elemental awareness.
  • Copying an old reroll guide: banner contents, rates, guarantees, and reset mechanics are time-sensitive and are not established by the current sources here.
  • Building four attackers: defeating opponents is only one part of a 4v4 capture match; plan for captures and defense as well.
  • Ignoring support and medals: the official guide identifies them, along with Character Type Effects, as meaningful team-building options.
  • Comparing unlike platforms: Steam and mobile rankings and league ranks are separate.
  • Spreading resources without a role plan: first make one practical lineup function, then broaden coverage as your roster and materials grow.

Bottom line for October 2026

Use The Four Emperors Monkey D. Luffy’s SS placement as the clearest point of agreement between the two dated lists, but do not treat it as an official guarantee or a reason to discard every other character. Pocket Gamer’s broad SS grouping and OPBR Guide’s more differentiated S/A placements reflect different judgments, not a permanent truth. Build for treasure capture, include the attacker, defender, and runner functions your matches require, account for red, blue, green, white, and black matchups, and invest in support, medals, and Character Type Effects. Reroll only after checking the live banner and platform-specific information; no current source here verifies a universal reroll recipe, target, rate, or reset sequence.
