For an Australian kitchen with a limited supply, that design may be the reason to look at it. Whether it actually fits depends on three things you can check before buying: the benchtop cut-out, the electrical connection your kitchen can provide, and whether your existing pans work on induction. Public independent test results for its cooking performance and reliability are not visible on the pages we could check, so this review relies on the manufacturer’s documents and on clearly labelled customer comments.
What the Omega OCI604PPTZ is
Omega’s Australian product page describes the OCI604PPTZ as a 60 cm induction cooktop with four cooking zones and 10 A power phasing. Those are manufacturer descriptions of how the unit is designed to operate. They do not, on their own, show how quickly it heats or how evenly it cooks.

The product page lists nine power levels plus a Boost setting, front touch controls with an LED display, EuroKera ceramic glass, automatic pan detection, a child lock, a 99-minute zone timer and a 120-minute automatic safety shut-off. The manual from November 2024 adds the electrical and physical specifications below.

#1 Best Overall
- PORTABLE INDUCTION BURNER: Duxtop induction cooktop uses 110/120 V 15 amp electrical outlet–standard in all North American homes. ETL listed and built to North American electrical standards. It is lightweight and compact for easy handling and storage
- Choose from 20 preset power levels (100 to 1800 W) and 20 preset temperature level settings (100 °F to 460 °F). With an 83% energy efficiency, induction burner is more efficient than traditional gas or electric stoves
- DIGITAL LCD SENSOR: Touch control panel: child safety lock keeps the cooking and timer settings from being accidentally changed once they have been set; fast boil button; keep warm button (for 1-30 minutes at 140 °F); up to 10-hour timer button
- Induction stoves rely on cookware to heat, so it’s essential to choose magnetic bottom cookware with a minimum diameter of 5 inches. Auto-pan detection will shut off automatically after 60 seconds if no cookware, or the incorrect cookware is detected
- Although induction itself is a noiseless process, there may be high pitched sounds from the cookware due to multiple layers of metals sandwiched together. Please allow the induction cooker to cool down before cleaning
How 10 A power phasing affects cooking
A 10 A connection at 240 V corresponds to 2400 W, which matches the installed power figure in the manual. The practical point is that the four zones can each be set to a rated output that is higher than what the connection can deliver all at once. Omega says the power-phasing algorithm divides available power between the zones that are switched on, so the total stays within 10 A.
In practice, one zone running alone can draw more of the available power than when several zones are in use at once. If you typically run two or three large pans together, expect each to receive a share rather than full rated output. Whether that is acceptable depends on how you cook. Omega does not publish comparative figures showing how long a given dish takes under sharing, and we did not find independent measurements that do.
Installation and electrical checks
The power-sharing design only helps if the cooktop is installed correctly and the supply matches the unit. Work through these checks before you order:

- HIGH EFFICIENCY - ChangBERT Induction cooktop offers 9 preset power levels (200-1800W) and 18 preset temperature settings (120-460℉, 20F per level). With an 83% energy efficiency rating, the induction cooker is more efficient than traditional gas or electric stoves, providing quick heat-up and faster cooking times.
- CONSISTENTLY STABLE HIGH-POWER OUTPUT - Built for constant use, it features continuous-duty circuitry for non-stop cooking. The unique power control technology ensures stable high-power output, reduces the temperature of internal electronics, and facilitates low-noise heat dissipation, providing reliable cooking performance. This dependable performance sets it apart from others.
- LARGE COOKING AREA - Features an expanded magnetic coil design that optimizes the winding structure to enhance the transfer of electromagnetic energy directly to the cookware, significantly improving heating efficiency and ensuring more even heat distribution across the bottom of the cookware.
- NSF CERTIFIED & COMMERCIAL GRADE - UL commercial standard 197, completely ETL & NSF approved. It meets industry durability standards, passing a drop test with an impact of 1.5 ft lbs. Designed for large-volume usage, it is ideal for commercial and professional settings such as restaurants, industrial kitchens, and other catering services.
- EASY TO CONTROL & CLEAN - The control buttons with solid tactile response make operation intuitive and precise. With simple and clear display, the Key-Press-Control Panel provides clear visibility and easy control, even with gloves or wet hands. With no open flame or heating element, food does not burn onto the glass cooktop, making it easy to clean greasy dirt.
- Measure the cut-out. The manual states a benchtop cut-out of 560 × 490 mm. Compare that with the opening in your existing bench or the one you plan to make, and check the manual for clearance requirements.
- Check the ventilation and space around the unit. The manual’s installation section sets out ventilation requirements. Confirm your benchtop and cabinetry meet them before you buy.
- Confirm the plug and connection. The manual says that where the cooktop does not include a 10 A plug, it must be connected by an authorised technician. Do not assume a plug-in setup is available in your kitchen. Look at the model-specific electrical connection diagrams in the manual and compare them with your outlet or circuit.
- Plan for an electrician if the connection is not a match. The manual also says that a damaged power cable must be replaced by a properly qualified person.
- Keep the manual with the appliance. It covers zone selection, operating functions, care and cleaning, and troubleshooting, which you will need after installation.
Search phrases such as “10 amp plug and play” reflect how buyers describe the product, but the manual’s connection requirements matter more than that wording. Treat the plug-in idea as something to verify, not something to assume.
Cookware and safety features
Induction cooking only works with ferromagnetic cookware. The manual states that cookware must be suitable for induction and includes cookware-size guidance. A magnet held to the base of a pan is a common quick check, but use the manual’s guidance for size before deciding a pan will work well on a given zone.
The manual and product page document automatic pan detection, which means a zone should only heat when a suitable pan is detected. They also document a child lock, a zone timer and an automatic shut-off. These are described features. Omega’s documents do not show how they compare with those on other cooktops, and we did not find independent testing of their reliability.

Independent evidence and customer comments
CHOICE’s public listing for the OCI604PPTZ shows a price of $799 and a three-year warranty, with China as the country of origin, four zones and dimensions of 59 × 52 cm. The listing also states a test period of “2024 onwards”. Its reliability, satisfaction, sustainability and yearly running-cost results are members-only on the public page, so those results are not available here. Price and warranty terms can change, so confirm both with Omega and your retailer before buying.
The Good Guys product page carries buyer reviews. Visible comments mention easy cleaning, touch controls, cooling, the change in power when several zones are in use, and whether existing cookware works. These are customer impressions, not controlled tests. The retailer notes that reviews may be incentivised, so treat them as a sense of what some owners experienced rather than a measure of how the cooktop performs across all homes.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who the Omega OCI604PPTZ suits
- A 60 cm bench where the cut-out is 560 × 490 mm and ventilation has been confirmed.
- A kitchen whose electrical supply matches the 10 A rating, or where an authorised technician can make the connection.
- Cooks who mostly use one or two zones at a time, or who accept that running several zones will share power.
- Households that already own induction-compatible cookware, or are prepared to replace pans that fail the manual’s checks.
If you need several large pans to run at full output at the same time, or you want independently measured results before you buy, this model’s public evidence will not answer those questions. Compare it with other 60 cm induction cooktops on connection and power limits, whether power is shared, zone sizes and outputs, cut-out dimensions, controls, safety functions, warranty and independent test results. We did not research a named competitor for this review, so we do not rank it against other models.

- 【CHECK YOUR PAN FIRST — MAGNET TEST + FLAT BASE 4 –10 IN】Works only with magnetic, flat-bottom cookware: cast iron, magnetic 430 stainless steel, or enameled iron. Fridge-magnet test on the flat bottom: clings = works; slides = no heat. Not for aluminum, copper, glass, ceramic, or non-magnetic 304 stainless steel. Measure the flat magnetic base, not the rim: 4 –10 in (10–26 cm). Round-bottom/warped pans or small magnetic dots won’t work. “E0” = pan mismatch, not a defect.
