Is Olympus 2249 out on Steam?
The Steam listing gives a release date of October 6, 2026 and Early Access status. iXBT reported on October 6 that the game had appeared on Steam. One captured copy of the store page still showed a “not yet available” message and an unlock countdown, which contradicts that report. Open the live Steam page before you plan around a purchase, because the release date alone doesn’t show whether the game can be bought right now.

How it connects to Olympus 2207
Steam names Dieselship Studio but says nothing about Olympus 2207. The link comes from iXBT, which says the team made the global Olympus 2207 mod on the Fallout 2 engine. It describes Olympus 2249 as a new standalone game with references that returning players may recognize. That is a relationship plus callbacks. Nothing in the reporting says it is a direct sequel, or that you need the mod or Fallout 2 to play. No official studio statement on the connection was available, so treat it as reported rather than confirmed.

Karmic Types and choices
Players pick one of five Karmic Types. The store says the type, and later karma changes, affect how people react and what dialogue, quests and opportunities open up. Conversations can change access to factions and quests. Non-combat specializations add dialogue options and alternative ways to solve problems.
Turn-based combat
Combat uses positioning, fuel barrels, oil spills, electricity, traps, aimed attacks and stamina-powered abilities. The listing also mentions crafting, stealth, hazardous environments, desert storms, day/night cycles, armor and dismemberment. Some encounters use procedural enemies and loot.
Navigation through dialogue
iXBT’s October 5 report, based on a developer video diary and not on hands-on play, says the game has no highlighted objects or glowing route trails. The developers’ line, as translated from the Russian, is: “There is no yellow paint on crates or glowing gas path beneath your feet in Olympus 2249. Characters will show you the way if you listen to them.” Notes from conversations are saved in an organizer.

The same report mentions city fast-travel points, compact and often multi-level locations, and hidden caches. It says quest consequences can affect personal reputation or, in some cases, a whole faction.
What Early Access includes
The developer says the Early Access build holds the planned systems and mechanics and the first of three intended story acts. In its words: “The Early Access version contains about a quarter of the story and is fully playable.” It estimates a 3–7 hour playthrough, depending on build, playstyle and side quests.
The studio also says: “We expect Olympus 2249 to remain in Early Access for roughly 18–24 months. This timeframe may be adjusted depending on player feedback and how development progresses.” Planned additions are more locations, factions, quests, characters and items, plus balance and quality-of-life changes. The studio says it plans to raise the price gradually as content grows. These are the developer’s estimates and plans, not guarantees, and the Steam page names no individual as the author.

AI disclosure and content warnings
The store says AI tools were used only to check visual concepts, translate text into some languages, and create music placeholders. It says the results have since been significantly reworked by humans. The studio plans to replace placeholder music with original compositions and have translations reviewed by human editors by release. The mature-content notice cites frequent violence, blood and gore, visible injuries and dismemberment, crime, and other mature themes.
Who it suits
Judge it on five points: whether choices change dialogue, quests and faction outcomes; how combat uses the environment and abilities; how much navigation depends on listening to dialogue; how much story the Early Access build covers (about a quarter, per the developer); and whether your language and hardware match the lists above. It is a digital PC release on Steam only, and no physical edition or official companion product has been identified.
