The Olimpia Splendid Elite 16 is a cooling-only portable air conditioner listed with 4.6 kW of cooling capacity, a 34 kg weight and a supplied window kit and remote. Those details make it possible to judge its basic fit and installation demands, but not its tested cooling performance, noise, energy use or ideal room size: those results are not visible in the accessible CHOICE listing. Treat the A$990 displayed there as a reference, not a current retail offer.
What the Elite 16 is
CHOICE identifies the Elite 16 as a portable air conditioner for cooling only. It is not described as a heat pump or heater, so do not choose it on the assumption that it can warm a room.

The publicly accessible CHOICE listing provides a handful of product details, but its expert rating and performance results are restricted to members. This is therefore a review of the verifiable specifications and the buying questions they raise—not an independent performance test or a claim about how well the unit cools in a particular home.

What size room can it cool?
The accessible listing does not show CHOICE’s recommended-room-size result. A 4.6 kW capacity figure alone is not enough to give a reliable room-size recommendation: the result depends on factors such as room layout, ceiling height, sun exposure, insulation and heat from occupants or appliances. No specific maximum room area is established by the available information.
Before buying, compare the room you intend to cool with a room-size recommendation for the exact Elite 16 version from a seller or manufacturer document. If no model-specific recommendation is available, do not treat a generic square-metre estimate as a tested guarantee.

Will the window kit fit your window?
CHOICE lists a window kit and remote as supplied. Olimpia Splendid’s Australian Elite-series page describes the range as having a multi-function remote, a 24-hour timer and a window kit, and links to an Elite 16 manual. That series-level description is useful context, but it does not independently confirm every item in the box for a particular regional SKU.
Portable air conditioners need a route to exhaust hot air outdoors. Check the supplied kit’s dimensions and fittings against your window type before ordering; the listing does not establish compatibility with every window. Consider a separate seal or kit only if the included parts do not suit your window and the replacement is confirmed compatible.

Noise, energy use and running cost
CHOICE’s accessible page does not reveal its noise result, energy-efficiency score or running-cost estimate for the Elite 16. The three fan speeds listed are a feature count, not a noise measurement or evidence of energy efficiency. Without the restricted results or another model-specific test, it is not possible to substantiate claims that the unit is quiet, efficient or inexpensive to operate.

Who should consider it?
- It may merit a shortlist if you need a portable, cooling-only appliance and the listed capacity, dimensions and window-kit arrangement suit your space.
- Pause before buying if a confirmed room-size recommendation, low noise, energy efficiency or a known running cost is essential to your choice; those results are not visible in the accessible listing.
- Verify the local version if exact box contents, window fit, warranty or current price will determine your decision.
Verdict
The available record establishes the Elite 16’s basic identity and several useful specifications, but not whether it performs well in a particular room or represents good value at today’s price. Its 4.6 kW listed capacity and included window kit and remote are starting points for checking fit—not substitutes for model-specific room, noise and energy results. Buy only after confirming those decision-critical details for the Australian version you can actually purchase.
