Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Yes, the Grand Exchange can now accept offers above the old 2,147,483,647 GP max-cash threshold. Since Jagex’s 30 September 2026 update, an offer can draw on coins and platinum tokens together, up to about 2.149 trillion GP. That does not raise the maximum size of an individual stack, remove item buy limits, or eliminate GE tax.
What is the Grand Exchange max cash limit now?
The old 2,147,483,647 GP figure is still the maximum size of one item stack, including a stack of coins. It is no longer the maximum value of a single GE offer. Jagex’s 30 September 2026 Beyond Max Cash update allows an offer to use coins and platinum tokens together, for a stated combined-currency ceiling of about 2.149 trillion GP: 2.147 billion coins plus 2.147 billion platinum tokens.

Enter the offer as usual. When it completes, the GE uses a workable combination of the currencies; if tokens were used, it may return coins as change. The offer-value ceiling and the item-stack cap are separate rules: no individual stack becomes larger than 2,147,483,647.
Known platinum-token issue
Jagex lists a current issue in which GE transactions can convert platinum tokens to GP. Its temporary workaround is to keep the exact purchase amount in coins in your inventory. Jagex also says coins may sometimes appear as an unnecessary placeholder in the bank; right-click the placeholder and choose “Release” to remove it. These are update-specific known issues, not permanent requirements for every GE transaction.

How GE tax works
Jagex confirms that tax still applies to eligible high-value sales and remains capped at 5 million coins per item. The Old School RuneScape Wiki describes the general tax as 2% of the sale price per item, rounded down, with exemptions that include bonds and certain low-value or early-game items. The rate is therefore not charged on every item in every sale, and the per-item cap prevents the tax from growing without limit on expensive items. Check the live offer interface for the amount shown for a specific sale.
What GE buy limits restrict
Buy limits are item-specific purchase allowances, not a universal cap on how much a player can trade. Jagex says the 2026 high-value change left existing restrictions, including buy limits, unchanged. The OSRS Wiki describes limits as quantities that can be purchased during a four-hour period; the period starts when the first item under the relevant limit is successfully bought.
Some related items share a limit, so buying one version can reduce the remaining allowance for another. There is no single quantity that applies to every item, and limits can change. Check the item’s current GE interface rather than relying on a fixed list or assuming that the old max-cash change reset your allowance. The Wiki describes no corresponding restriction on selling items.
Why an item or account may be blocked from the GE
Tradeability, GE eligibility, and account permission are different checks. A failed offer does not necessarily mean you hit a buy limit.

- Untradeable item: It cannot be exchanged through the GE or ordinary player-to-player trade.
- Tradeable, but not GE-eligible: Some items can be traded directly between players but are excluded from the GE. The Old School RuneScape Wiki gives partially charged items and certain minigame supplies as examples.
- Account restriction: Ironman accounts have limited access, and restrictions can affect new free-to-play accounts. The specific rules depend on account type or status, so check the current in-game interface or official guidance before relying on an example.
- Reached buy limit: The offer may exceed the remaining item-specific allowance, including an allowance shared with a related item.
- Offer has not matched: An eligible offer can remain pending if no seller is willing to transact at your price.
These cases call for different fixes: verify that the item is GE-eligible, check account rules, inspect the remaining buy allowance, and review the offer price and status.

Jagex’s 30 September 2026 update made guide prices more responsive: the maximum movement per update rose from 5% to 20%, updates now occur every three hours rather than every 24 hours, and low-volume items also receive updates. A guide price remains a reference, not a promise that an offer will match immediately. Set a limit price with current supply and demand in mind; an offer may wait if it does not meet the prices other players are offering.
