Use the table below to download the Google-hosted Chrome disk image that matches your Mac’s exact OS X/macOS version. These are legacy installers, not current Chrome releases. Google’s supported Mac baseline is now macOS 13 Ventura or later, so systems from Mavericks through Catalina no longer receive current Chrome updates. See Google’s requirements at Google Chrome Help and Chrome Enterprise requirements.
Direct Google download links
The URLs below point to disk images on Google’s dl.google.com domain. The installer path is grouped by Chrome’s historical support branches, so two macOS releases can share one image. The link list is documented in the MacRumors legacy-download reference.

What “official final” means
“Official” here describes hosting: the files are served from Google’s dl.google.com domain rather than a repackaging site. It does not mean Google still supports these browser builds. “Final” means the last Chrome branch intended to run on that operating system—not the latest Chrome release in 2026, and not a version receiving current security patches.

An old browser may install successfully while failing on modern sites because of newer TLS requirements, certificate chains, JavaScript APIs, media codecs, or account-security policies. The domain alone is not proof that obsolete software is safe for sensitive work.
Check the Mac’s exact operating-system version
- Open the Apple menu.
- Choose About This Mac.
- Read the complete version, such as 10.9.5, 10.13.6, or 10.15.7.
- Select the matching row above.
Do not identify compatibility by Mac model year. A single model can run several different macOS releases.

googlechrome.dmgdirectly from the table. - Open the downloaded file in Finder.
- Drag the Chrome icon to the Applications folder.
- Eject the mounted Chrome disk image from Finder’s sidebar.
- Open Chrome from Applications.
- If macOS asks for confirmation, verify that you obtained the file from the listed Google address before proceeding.
This is the same general disk-image workflow described in Google’s installation guidance at Chrome Help.
Verify which Chrome build was installed
- Launch Chrome.
- Open the Chrome menu in the macOS menu bar.
- Choose About Google Chrome and record the full version number.
If Chrome will not open, select it in Finder, choose File → Get Info, and check the version shown in the information panel. Keep a record of the Chrome version, macOS version, Mac model, and any “unable to update” message for future troubleshooting.

Troubleshooting download and installation problems
The link downloads nothing
- Paste the complete URL into the address bar instead of relying on a button.
- Try another browser already installed on the Mac.
- Download on a newer computer and transfer the file by USB drive, AirDrop, local network, or cloud storage.
- Check that smart punctuation or a wrapped line has not altered the URL.
macOS says the disk image is damaged
- Delete the file and download it again directly from Google.
- Compare the file size of separate attempts.
- Transfer a fresh copy if the first transfer was interrupted.
- Check the Mac’s date and time; very old systems can have certificate-validation problems.
- Do not replace the file with a modified installer from an unknown archive.
Chrome reports that macOS is unsupported
Recheck the version in About This Mac. This message usually means the current Chrome package was used or the wrong legacy branch was selected. Use the table’s exact row; do not try to force-install a current build that requires a newer macOS.
Chrome installs but crashes at startup
- Confirm the Mac’s actual point release and CPU/graphics hardware.
- Remove Chrome and copy a fresh application from a newly downloaded disk image.
- Try a clean launch before restoring extensions or an old Chrome profile.
- If the historical branch is incompatible with the hardware, another browser or a newer operating system may be required.
Modern websites fail
Unsupported-browser notices, TLS or certificate errors, missing JavaScript features, broken video, and blocked sign-ins can all result from the browser’s age. Those symptoms do not necessarily indicate a bad download.

Security, updates, and account use
These builds no longer receive current Chrome security updates, and their operating systems are outside Google’s current support baseline. Chrome may show an update warning; an updater cannot move the browser to a release that requires a newer macOS, and an offered update may fail with an unsupported-system message. Google’s current package and update documentation covers supported systems, not an ongoing update channel for these branches: Chrome package guidance and system requirements.
A Google-hosted file and a secure browser are separate questions. Avoid using an obsolete installation for banking, medical portals, government accounts, password management, or other high-risk activity. If you must use it, isolate the Mac or restrict it to low-risk, controlled tasks.

When legacy Chrome is—and is not—a sensible choice
It can make sense when
- You need a specific old Chrome-only application or workflow.
- You are restoring a vintage Mac for offline or historical use.
- The machine is isolated or tightly controlled and you understand the security trade-off.
It is a poor choice when
- You need secure online transactions or current web applications.
- You expect modern extensions, video conferencing, or media playback.
- The Mac can be upgraded to a currently supported macOS release.
Safer alternatives
Upgrade macOS where Apple officially allows it
First check Apple’s supported upgrade path for the Mac and make a complete backup. Unofficial patching tools can extend hardware life, but they introduce compatibility, driver, performance, update, and recovery risks; treat them as a separate technical project.
Chromium Legacy
Chromium Legacy offers newer Chromium-based builds for some obsolete Macs, including versions in the 10.9–10.14 range. It is a third-party project, not Google Chrome or an official Google distribution, and its support and limitations are project-specific.
Another maintained device or browser
Browser support changes frequently. Before choosing a fork, verify its supported macOS versions, release cadence, developer reputation, signing or verification method, and current security fixes. For sensitive or current web use, a newer Mac, PC, Chromebook, tablet, or phone is safer than relying on an obsolete browser.
