Yes, the 2026 remake has voiced cutscenes and expanded dialogue. Nintendo lists it as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive launching November 5, 2026, with physical and digital editions. Nintendo also confirms symphonic orchestral music, but has not confirmed whether the original Nintendo 64 soundtrack can be selected.
What Nintendo has officially confirmed
Nintendo’s current US product listing and 2026 announcements establish the remake’s core specifications. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is being released for Nintendo Switch 2 only, on November 5, 2026. The US listing offers both physical and digital editions. Neither edition is described as having different audio or gameplay content.

The remake is presented as a substantial modernization rather than a straight-resolution upgrade. Nintendo advertises completely overhauled visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded character dialogue, symphonic orchestral music, enhanced controls and modernized camera movement. Those are confirmed features; details such as the complete voice cast, language coverage and a track-by-track music list have not been published in the official material currently available.
Nintendo’s September 9 announcement describes the project as Link’s milestone 1998 adventure being reborn for a new era. That wording supports treating this as a broad remake with changes to presentation and interaction, not merely a port of the Nintendo 64 software. It still does not establish every technical specification or every optional setting.

Does the Ocarina of Time remake have voice acting?
Yes. Nintendo explicitly says the remake includes voiced cutscenes and expanded dialogue. That wording confirms spoken performance in cinematic scenes and more written or spoken character material than the 1998 Nintendo 64 release.
What “voiced cutscenes” tells you
The announcement confirms that at least the cutscene presentation contains voices. It does not establish that every line in every interaction is voiced, nor does it provide a character-by-character cast list. Nintendo has not yet published the names of the performers, the number of voiced scenes or a complete language-by-language breakdown in the materials reviewed for this FAQ.
For that reason, a trailer impression should not be treated as an official cast confirmation. Until Nintendo publishes a cast or localization list, the reliable answer is limited to the feature description: cutscenes are voiced and the dialogue has been expanded.

It indicates that the script or amount of character dialogue is larger than in the original. Nintendo has not quantified the additions, identified every changed scene or said whether incidental conversations receive the same voice treatment as major cinematic sequences.
Does it keep the original Nintendo 64 music?
Nintendo describes the remake’s soundtrack as symphonic orchestral music. This confirms a new orchestral presentation of the game’s music, but it does not answer whether the original Nintendo 64 recordings are also included.
Can you switch to the N64 soundtrack?
That option is currently unconfirmed. Nintendo’s official product description and announcements reviewed through October 13, 2026, do not say that players can select the original audio, enable a “classic” soundtrack, or toggle between orchestral and Nintendo 64 versions.
The word “orchestral” should therefore not be read as proof that the original tracks were removed, and it should not be read as proof that a legacy-audio toggle exists. Both possibilities remain open until Nintendo documents the audio settings or demonstrates them in a later update.

This also means there is no evidence-based difference to report between the physical and digital editions on music. Nintendo lists both formats, but does not associate either one with the N64 recordings, a bonus soundtrack or an alternate audio mode.

What is known about the new music
The confirmed change is presentation: Nintendo calls the remake’s music symphonic orchestral. No official track list, recording credits, runtime, dynamic-music description or comparison of individual arrangements has been released in the sources covered here. It is consequently too early to state whether every original melody has been re-recorded, rearranged, extended or supplemented.
Players looking specifically for the original sound should plan around that uncertainty. The announced orchestral score is the only music format Nintendo has described so far. A classic option may still be announced, but it should not be treated as part of the launch specification until Nintendo says so.
Is the remake coming to Nintendo Switch?
Nintendo lists the game as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. The official listing does not announce a version for the original Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite or Nintendo Switch OLED. “Switch 2” is therefore important in the platform answer: buying or owning an earlier Switch model is not presented as sufficient for this release.
The June 12, 2026 Nintendo announcement described the Nintendo 64 adventure as returning exclusively for Switch 2 in 2026. Nintendo’s later product listing gives the specific launch date and confirms that the title remains exclusive to the newer system.
There is also no separate platform edition described for another console or PC. The practical hardware question is whether you have a Nintendo Switch 2, particularly if you want to use the system microphone interaction described by Nintendo. The announcements do not say that a separate microphone accessory is required.
When does the Ocarina of Time remake come out?
The announced release date is November 5, 2026. Nintendo’s US store listing shows that date for both purchase formats:
| Purchase format | Platform | Release date | Audio distinction confirmed? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physical edition | Nintendo Switch 2 | November 5, 2026 | No separate soundtrack or audio mode is stated |
| Digital edition | Nintendo Switch 2 | November 5, 2026 | No separate soundtrack or audio mode is stated |
The date and format information comes from Nintendo of America’s US listing. Retailer stock, regional launch timing and final packaging details can change, so buyers should check Nintendo’s live product page for their market as launch approaches.
Nothing in the official listing indicates that the digital version launches earlier, that the physical card contains a different build or that either format includes a soundtrack bonus. Those details should not be inferred from the existence of two purchase options.

What else is changing besides voice and music?
Overhauled visuals
Nintendo says the remake has completely overhauled visuals. The official wording establishes a broad visual rebuild, not a specific resolution, frame-rate target, display mode or performance setting. Those technical specifications have not been stated in the material reviewed.
Accordingly, it is reasonable to expect a new visual presentation, but not to promise a particular television mode, handheld mode, frame-rate target or graphics preset. Nintendo has not supplied those numbers in the announcements and listing used for this FAQ.
Expanded dialogue
Expanded dialogue means the remake adds or enlarges character conversations compared with the original adventure. Nintendo does not quantify the number of new lines or identify every scene affected, so there is no official percentage or script-length figure to report.
The feature may matter to returning players who remember the concise Nintendo 64 script, but the announcement does not explain whether additions are concentrated in story scenes, optional conversations or both. Any scene-by-scene list would require information Nintendo has not yet published.
Reworked movement and camera controls
Nintendo advertises enhanced controls and modern camera movements. Its September 9, 2026 announcement describes the controls and camera as reworked, indicating that movement and viewing are being adapted for contemporary play rather than copied unchanged from the Nintendo 64 control scheme. Nintendo has not published a complete button map, sensitivity menu or accessibility-control list in the official material covered here.
That distinction is useful when comparing the remake with the original: the confirmed difference is a redesigned control and camera experience, not a documented list of every input change. Players should wait for a full manual or final product details before assuming a particular control layout.
Ocarina melodies through the Switch 2 microphone
A September 8, 2026 Nintendo announcement describes a new interaction with the Switch 2 system microphone. Players can play or hum learned ocarina melodies near the microphone to trigger them in-game. This is an optional input method described by Nintendo; the announcement does not establish that a separate physical ocarina is required, included in the box or sold with the game.
Recommended Free Tools
The feature does imply that the microphone-equipped Switch 2 system is the relevant hardware for this interaction. Nintendo has not stated the exact recognition range, supported languages, environmental-noise tolerance or whether every melody can be activated this way. Those practical details should not be assumed from the announcement alone.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Nothing announced so far says that humming replaces standard controls. The safe interpretation is that microphone input is an additional way to trigger learned melodies, while the complete control scheme remains to be documented.
What the official information does not yet answer
Several commonly searched details remain open. Nintendo’s current material does not provide:
- A named voice cast or a character-by-character list of speaking roles.
- A complete account of which scenes or lines are voiced.
- Confirmation that the original Nintendo 64 soundtrack is retained.
- Confirmation of a selectable original-audio or orchestral-audio toggle.
- A full soundtrack listing or individual arrangement credits.
- Final technical specifications such as resolution, frame rate or graphics modes.
- A complete language-by-language description of voice availability.
These are information gaps, not evidence that the features are absent. The safe distinction is between what Nintendo has announced and what has simply not been described yet. In particular, do not convert the absence of an audio-toggle announcement into a claim that the classic soundtrack was removed.

Nintendo’s US store lists both formats for the same Switch 2 release. No official source covered here says that one edition includes a different soundtrack, extra voice content, altered controls or exclusive story material.
Physical edition
- Provides a game card and a copy that can be lent or resold, subject to local retail and account rules.
- Requires storage and console updates to be checked separately if Nintendo publishes launch patches.
- Does not have a documented audio advantage over the digital edition.
Digital edition
- Can be downloaded to the Switch 2 and does not require changing game cards.
- Uses console storage, so available space and download time matter.
- Has no documented soundtrack or voice advantage over the physical edition.
Those format differences are practical purchasing considerations, not evidence of separate versions of the remake. Nintendo has not announced an edition-specific classic soundtrack. Check the live store page for the final price, file-size information and any regional purchase conditions rather than assuming they are identical everywhere.

No. Nintendo has announced Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo figures for 2027 that unlock special in-game masks. They are optional accessories announced for a later date, not prerequisites for launching or completing the remake.
Nintendo’s announcement does not establish final prices, retailer availability or the exact release day for either figure. Treat those details as pending until Nintendo or authorized retailers publish them. The amiibo announcement also does not connect the figures to an original-audio option.

What to check before buying or pre-ordering
- Confirm the console. The listed platform is Nintendo Switch 2, not the original Switch family.
- Check the date for your region. November 5, 2026 is the date shown in Nintendo of America’s US listing; regional listings can carry their own release information.
- Choose a format. Nintendo lists physical and digital editions, with no announced soundtrack difference.
- Set expectations about audio. Voiced cutscenes and orchestral music are confirmed; an N64 soundtrack selector is not.
- Review final system details near launch. Nintendo has not yet published the complete control layout, performance specifications, voice cast or language breakdown.
- Decide whether optional accessories matter. The 2027 Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo unlock masks but are not required, and Nintendo has not announced their final prices or retail details.
These checks prevent the most common purchasing misunderstandings: ordering an original-Switch version that has not been announced, assuming physical and digital editions have different music, or treating an unconfirmed classic soundtrack as a guaranteed feature.
Bottom line on voice acting, music and availability
The answer to the voice-acting question is yes: Nintendo confirms voiced cutscenes and expanded dialogue. The answer to the platform question is also clear: the remake is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive scheduled for November 5, 2026, with physical and digital editions listed in the United States. Nintendo confirms symphonic orchestral music, but has not said whether the original Nintendo 64 soundtrack can be selected or retained as a separate mode. Until that setting is documented, treat the classic-audio question as unresolved rather than assuming either outcome.
