The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is listed for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. Best Buy says nearly all of its U.S. stores will open for a midnight ET launch, with limited quantities of the game and related Zelda anniversary products. It is a chance to shop at launch—not a confirmed last chance, and not a guarantee that a particular store will have copies.
When is the Ocarina of Time Switch 2 midnight launch?
Best Buy’s October 8, 2026 announcement says nearly all U.S. stores will open at midnight Eastern Time on Thursday, November 5. Because the opening is simultaneous across time zones, it falls on the evening of Wednesday, November 4, in much of the country.

Is this really your last chance to buy the game?
No. Best Buy announced limited quantities for its launch-night event, but neither that statement nor Nintendo’s release information establishes that the game is selling out everywhere or that this is the final opportunity to purchase it. The retailer’s announcement describes what it expects to have at participating openings; it does not guarantee stock at an individual store.

- This is the world edition. It has different packaging but is fully authentic and works on US region 3DS systems.
- The Legend of Zelda veterans can look forward to the Master Quest - a second quest with revamped puzzles and redesigned dungeons.
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is a masterful improvement on one of the landmark releases in video game history.
- “E10+”, w/Animated Blood, Fantasy Violence, Suggestive Themes
Nintendo’s “while supplies last” wording applies specifically to the textured foil cover art on the first physical print run. That is a packaging detail, not a claim that the game itself will only be available in a limited run. Nintendo lists both a physical edition and a digital listing.
How to improve your odds of getting a copy at Best Buy
Preorder for pickup
Best Buy says preorders are available in its stores, on its website, and in its app. Customers who choose pickup can collect during the late-night opening; Best Buy says customers will receive an email with the option to switch to store pickup. Check the order confirmation and pickup instructions for your location rather than assuming an online order is automatically assigned to the midnight event.
Shop as a walk-in
Walk-in customers may be able to buy from launch-night inventory, but Best Buy characterizes the quantity as limited. The company has not published a per-store unit count, so arriving at opening does not ensure a copy. Confirm participation and local instructions before setting out.

The U.S. Nintendo store lists the game as exclusive to Switch 2, single-player, and playable in handheld, tabletop, and TV modes. Its digital listing estimates a 27 GB download; that estimate is for the digital listing and should not be treated as a statement about physical cartridge contents.
Should you choose physical or digital?

What about the Zelda 40th Anniversary hardware and amiibo?
Best Buy also announced limited launch-night quantities of the Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 and matching Pro Controller. These are optional purchases: the game is listed separately, and the controller is not required to play. Themed hardware is most relevant if you do not already own a Switch 2 or specifically want the anniversary design.
