That does not by itself prove the YouTube live event has ended. Check Windows connectivity, OBS’s connection status, and YouTube Live Control Room separately before changing settings or replacing hardware.
Why an adapter reset can disconnect OBS
OBS sends your stream directly from your computer to YouTube’s streaming service; OBS does not run an intermediate streaming server. The path includes the Windows network adapter, your local network and internet route, and YouTube’s ingest service. Resetting the adapter can interrupt that path even if it comes back online afterward.

OBS describes dropped frames and intermittent disconnections as signs of a network issue between the computer and the remote ingest server. Too many dropped frames can disconnect the encoder. This points to the connection path, but it does not establish that a particular Windows adapter reset always ends a YouTube event or identify which part of the path failed.
There are three states to distinguish: whether Windows is online, whether OBS has reconnected to YouTube, and whether YouTube still recognizes the intended event as live and is receiving data. An OBS reconnect does not guarantee that YouTube’s event resumed.

Diagnose the stream in order

Confirm Windows has network access
After the reset, try loading a normal webpage. Then open Windows network settings and check that the adapter you intend to use is enabled and connected. For Ethernet, inspect the cable and its connection at both ends. The fault may involve the PC, adapter, cable, router, ISP, or a USB-to-Ethernet adapter; do not assume the adapter itself is defective just because a reset preceded the outage. Check OBS’s connection state and log
Look at OBS’s streaming status and statistics for dropped frames or a disconnected state. If the OBS window appears to be streaming, verify the connection rather than relying on the interface alone. OBS’s stream connection troubleshooting guide explains that dropped frames indicate an unstable or insufficient connection to the remote server and that enough dropped frames can lead to disconnection.

Let OBS reconnect, then verify YouTube
OBS offers automatic reconnect under Settings → Advanced. If it is enabled, allow it to try after Windows connectivity returns. If it is not enabled, use OBS’s available reconnect or stop-and-start controls as appropriate for the current event. Then check YouTube Studio → Go Live and inspect the intended stream in Live Control Room to see whether YouTube is receiving data and whether the event is still live. Treat OBS’s encoder status and YouTube’s event status as separate checks; reconnecting OBS alone cannot confirm that the event resumed.

Review OBS’s network options one at a time
In OBS, open Settings → Advanced and check Bind to IP. OBS recommends leaving it at Default while troubleshooting. On Windows, Enable Network Optimizations and Enable TCP pacing are options that some users report can help with disconnections; test each separately and keep it only if it improves your situation. Dynamic Bitrate Adjustment can lower bitrate when the connection is congested, but it does not fix the underlying cause and may reduce stream quality. Change one setting at a time so you can identify what made a difference.

Check software and drivers
Security software or firewalls, VPNs, bundled network-optimization software such as Lenovo Vantage or Killer NIC, and outdated network drivers can contribute to connection trouble. Check the network adapter maker or PC maker for a current driver. If you briefly test whether security software is interfering, do so only as a controlled diagnostic and restore protection afterward. Avoid leaving a firewall or antivirus disabled.

Isolate the network route and hardware
OBS recommends wired networking for streaming and identifies modems, routers, cables, network cards, switches, and extenders as possible fault points. If practical, test one change at a time: for example, try a known-good Ethernet cable or connect by Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi. These are ways to isolate a possible fault, not proven fixes for adapter-reset outages. If Windows is online but OBS still cannot reach YouTube, the problem may lie elsewhere on the route.

When to reset the YouTube stream key
A Windows adapter reset is not, by itself, a reason to replace your YouTube stream key. Reset a key if it was exposed or otherwise needs replacement, not as a reflexive response to a transient connection interruption. YouTube’s documented path is YouTube Studio → Go Live → Stream tab → Stream key → Reset. After resetting, copy the new key into OBS; the encoder must use the newly generated key. YouTube’s guidance does not state that a Windows adapter reset invalidates a key.

What to collect if the problem keeps happening
If the checks above do not isolate the fault, record the time of the reset, how you initiated it, the adapter and driver identity, your Windows version, relevant OBS log information, and what Live Control Room showed. Those details help distinguish a local adapter issue from a router, ISP, route, ingest, or event-state problem. OBS advises contacting your ISP with detailed information when the issue persists, because parts of the internet route are outside your control.
