The fix depends on what OBS is playing. Media Source repeats or stops on one local file; it does not advance through a playlist. For multiple local gaming videos, use VLC Video and add the clips there. If OBS is showing YouTube through Browser Source, check the YouTube player and playlist controls instead—the Media Source Loop setting does not control YouTube.
First identify the OBS source
In OBS, look in the Sources dock and identify the source type. The names matter: Media Source plays a local file, VLC Video can play a local playlist, and Browser Source loads a web page such as a YouTube player. Their playback controls are not interchangeable.

- Media Source: one local video or audio file. Its Loop option replays that same file after it finishes.
- VLC Video: a list of local media items, with a separate Loop Playlist option.
- Browser Source: a web page displayed inside OBS. YouTube’s player, not Media Source, controls a YouTube playlist’s progression and repeat behavior.
If OBS is playing one local gaming video
Select the Media Source in Sources and open its properties. Decide whether the clip should repeat or stop when it ends:
- Turn on Loop to replay that same file from the beginning after playback completes.
- Turn off Loop to let the file finish without repeating.
This setting does not mean “play the next video.” Media Source is the wrong source type for advancing through a set of local clips. If you expected several gaming videos to play in sequence, use VLC Video instead.

Play several local videos in sequence with VLC Video
- Install VLC. OBS requires VLC for the VLC Video source to be available. If your OBS installation is 64-bit, use a 64-bit VLC installation.
- Add the source. In OBS, use the Sources dock’s add control and select VLC Video. If it is missing, confirm VLC is installed and its architecture matches your OBS installation.
- Add and order the clips. In the VLC Video source properties, add the gaming video files to the playlist and arrange them in the order you want played.
- Choose the end behavior. Enable Loop Playlist if the playlist should restart from its first item after the final clip. Leave it disabled if playback should end after the last item.
- Apply the properties and check playback. Confirm the current clip reaches its end and that the next listed item starts. If it does not, verify the playlist entries and order, then confirm each file can be opened by VLC.
Loop Playlist applies to the whole list; it is different from Media Source’s Loop, which repeats one file.
If OBS is showing a YouTube playlist
If the source is Browser Source, open its properties and inspect the URL: Browser Source loads the page specified there. Confirm it points to the intended YouTube video or playlist and that the player is actually showing the intended playlist. The YouTube player owns playlist progression and repeat behavior; changing a local Media Source’s Loop setting cannot change it.

YouTube provides a loop control for videos and playlists. Use the playlist’s repeat control when you want the list to start over after its final video. If you are embedding a playlist with code, distinguish playing through the items once from repeating the whole playlist: Google’s IFrame Player API says playlists do not loop by default and documents setLoop(true) to enable playlist looping.
OBS’s general Browser Source documentation describes loading a web page, but does not promise that a particular YouTube embed will autoplay or advance under every circumstance. Refreshing a page or changing whether a browser source shuts down while hidden may affect page loading, but neither option guarantees YouTube playlist behavior.

If the playlist still repeats or stops unexpectedly
- It repeats the same clip: check whether the source is Media Source. Its Loop option repeats one local file; switch to VLC Video for a local multi-clip playlist.
- It stops after one local file: if you need multiple files, add them to VLC Video rather than expecting Media Source to advance. If you need that one file to replay, enable its Loop option.
- It does not restart after the final local clip: check that Loop Playlist is enabled on the VLC Video source.
- The YouTube player shows the wrong item or no playlist: check the Browser Source URL and verify in the player that the video belongs to the intended playlist.
- The YouTube playlist plays through once and stops: use YouTube’s playlist repeat control. For an API-controlled embed, playlist looping is off by default; the documented API control is
setLoop(true). - A YouTube embed behaves inconsistently in OBS: do not assume a generic OBS Browser Source setting will force YouTube to autoplay or advance. Check the player and playlist behavior directly. A community-maintained OBS resource describes an embedded-player script with multiple video IDs, autoplay, and looping options, but it is not an official OBS fix or a compatibility guarantee; verify that it still works with your current OBS and YouTube behavior before relying on it.
The OBS documentation pages cited for these source behaviors are dated January 11, 2022, so labels or behavior may differ in newer releases. The source-type distinction remains the key troubleshooting step: local-file playback is configured in OBS, while a YouTube playlist’s behavior belongs to its player.
