NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro Price Rises by $100 to $299.99, Reports Say

NVIDIA’s SHIELD TV Pro is reported to have risen from $199.99 to $299.99 in the US, an increase of $100 effective October 2, 2026. The reported change comes with a caveat: NVIDIA’s US product page still showed $199.99 when checked that day, so confirm the checkout price before buying.

What changed—and what is confirmed

Ars Technica and 9to5Google reported the new $299.99 US price on October 2, 2026. Ars quoted an NVIDIA spokesperson saying, “Starting October 2, SHIELD Pro will be priced at $299. The cost of components, including memory, has increased substantially across the industry.” That is NVIDIA’s stated explanation as reported by Ars, not an independently verified breakdown of the Pro’s costs. Ars Technica’s report and 9to5Google’s coverage describe the increase.

There is a mismatch between those reports and NVIDIA’s own US product page: it displayed $199.99 when accessed on October 2. That captured page price does not establish whether the increase had reached the store, and retailer prices or stock may differ. Check the price shown at checkout rather than treating either figure as guaranteed current pricing. NVIDIA’s product page is the official listing.

How the reported price compares with the original

NVIDIA’s October 28, 2019 launch announcement listed the SHIELD TV Pro at $199, with a remote, 3 GB of memory and 16 GB of storage. The newly reported $299.99 price is $100 above the $199.99 launch-era figure cited in current coverage; it is not a comparison of identical price formats, since the original announcement gave a whole-dollar launch price. NVIDIA’s 2019 announcement records the launch configuration and price.

What the SHIELD TV Pro offers

NVIDIA describes the Pro as a 4K HDR streaming player with Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, AI-enhanced upscaling and GeForce NOW cloud gaming. Its listed hardware includes a Tegra X1+ processor and 3 GB of RAM. NVIDIA also identifies two USB 3.0 ports, additional storage space and Plex Media Server as Pro features. These are manufacturer specifications and feature claims, not independent performance-test results. NVIDIA’s Pro specifications provide the feature details.

The 2019 launch announcement specifies 16 GB of onboard storage. NVIDIA’s current product page describes the Pro as having more storage space than the standard model, but does not establish the current storage inventory or guarantee compatibility with every external drive. If you plan to attach storage for local media or Plex, check the requirements for the particular drive and setup you intend to use.

Is it worth buying at the reported $299.99 price?

That depends on whether the Pro’s particular features solve a need you have; the increase alone does not show that the device performs better or that it is a better value. Consider the following before paying:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Local media or Plex: The Pro includes Plex Media Server and has USB ports that may be useful for attached storage. Confirm that your intended drive and media setup are supported.
  • Picture and sound: Check that you will use the formats NVIDIA lists, such as 4K HDR, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and that your TV and audio equipment support the features you want.
  • Upscaling and cloud gaming: AI-enhanced upscaling and GeForce NOW may matter if they fit how you watch or play; the listed features do not by themselves establish a performance advantage for your setup.
  • Price at checkout: Because NVIDIA’s page and same-day reports showed different prices, compare the current official listing and retailer checkout total before deciding.

The available product and price sources do not establish current, directly comparable prices or specifications for competing players, so they do not support naming a cheaper equivalent or declaring the Pro the best option.
