NVIDIA has discontinued the lower-priced SHIELD TV, according to TechRadar’s 2 October 2026 report. The SHIELD TV Pro remains listed on NVIDIA’s US product page at $299—$100 above its $199 US launch price in 2019. NVIDIA cited substantially higher component costs across the industry, including memory; the available statement does not say memory alone caused the price change.
Is the NVIDIA SHIELD TV discontinued?
TechRadar reported on 2 October 2026 that NVIDIA had discontinued the lower-tier SHIELD TV. That is a change from the situation reported in July: Android Authority said NVIDIA described the base model as largely out of stock due to demand, offered no update on future availability, and said the Pro remained available. That July account did not describe the base model as officially discontinued.

The October report is the latest status in the sources available here. It concerns the base SHIELD TV; it does not mean the SHIELD TV Pro has been discontinued.
Is the SHIELD TV Pro still available, and what does it cost?
NVIDIA’s US product page lists the SHIELD TV Pro at $299. That is the current official US listing, not a guarantee of a particular retailer’s stock or final transaction price; pricing and availability may differ outside the United States.
#1 Best Overall
- Ultra-speedy streaming: Roku Ultra is 30% faster than any other Roku player, delivering a lightning-fast interface and apps that launch in a snap.
- Cinematic streaming: This TV streaming device brings the movie theater to your living room with spectacular 4K, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision picture alongside immersive Dolby Atmos audio.
- The ultimate Roku remote: The rechargeable Roku Voice Remote Pro offers backlit buttons, hands-free voice controls, and a lost remote finder.
- No more fumbling in the dark: See what you’re pressing with backlit buttons.
- Say goodbye to batteries: Keep your remote powered for months on a single charge.
NVIDIA announced the Pro at $199 in the United States in October 2019. Compared with that launch price, the current $299 listing is $100 higher, or 50% above $199. The comparison uses the original announced US price, not a claim about every price the device may have had at retailers in the intervening years.
Why did the price rise? What NVIDIA has said
TechRadar attributes both the base-model discontinuation and the Pro price increase to rising component costs and quotes NVIDIA saying that “the cost of components, including memory, has increased substantially across the industry.” This supports saying NVIDIA cited broad component-cost increases, with memory among the components mentioned.

The reported statement does not quantify the increases or separate memory’s contribution from the cost of other components. It therefore does not establish that a memory shortage or “memory crisis” alone caused the $100 increase. Nor do the cited sources provide an independent memory-price measure or sales figures.
What the remaining SHIELD TV Pro offers
NVIDIA’s specifications describe the Pro as an Android TV device powered by Android 11, built around a Tegra X1+ processor and 256-core GPU. Listed specifications and features include:

These are NVIDIA’s specifications, not independent performance-test results. That launch-era positioning is not a current independent assessment of performance.
