NVIDIA has added DLSS 4.5 controls to GeForce NOW, giving cloud gamers new ways to tune supported games for image quality, responsiveness or a balance of both. The October 15, 2026 rollout applies through the GeForce NOW app on Windows, macOS, Chrome OS and SteamOS. Ultimate members whose sessions run on GeForce RTX 5080-powered cloud rigs receive the highest announced setting: Dynamic Multi Frame Generation of up to 4X. That entitlement depends on the membership tier, cloud GPU and game; it is not a service-wide promise for every plan or title.
What NVIDIA announced on October 15, 2026
The new controls expose three DLSS 4.5 functions inside GeForce NOW rather than requiring the player to own a current RTX desktop or laptop. NVIDIA says the controls can make supported games look sharper, feel more responsive or produce smoother streaming. Because the game is rendered on a cloud rig, the result still depends on the title, the assigned server hardware and the quality of the player’s network connection.

GeForce NOW continues to download, install and update supported games in the cloud. NVIDIA says the service has supported more than 4,500 games and streamed more than 1 billion hours during its first six years, figures cited by NVIDIA in 2026.
What each DLSS 4.5 control does
DLSS Super Resolution
Super Resolution reconstructs the game image from a lower internal rendering resolution and is described by NVIDIA as sharpening image quality. It is the control to try when a stream looks soft or fine details are difficult to read. The benefit is game-dependent, and it only appears where the streamed title supports the relevant DLSS option.

- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
Dynamic Multi Frame Generation
Dynamic Multi Frame Generation creates additional frames to make motion appear smoother. NVIDIA describes the GeForce NOW implementation as reducing latency and stutter for a smoother stream. On the announced Ultimate configuration, the setting can reach up to 4X, but that figure applies specifically to Ultimate members streaming on RTX 5080-powered cloud rigs.
Ray Reconstruction
Ray Reconstruction is intended to enhance visuals in games that use ray tracing. It is therefore not a universal image-quality switch: a title must support the feature and expose ray-traced effects for the change to be visible.

Who can use 4X Frame Generation?
The maximum announced GeForce NOW mode is tied to two conditions: an Ultimate membership and a session running on an RTX 5080-powered cloud rig. A compatible game is a third requirement. GeForce NOW can place a user on different hardware, and NVIDIA has not stated that every membership tier, every server class or every DLSS-supported title receives 4X.

|---|---|---|
| Ultimate membership on an RTX 5080-powered cloud rig | Dynamic Multi Frame Generation up to 4X in supported games | That every Ultimate session or game will offer 4X |
| Other GeForce NOW memberships or cloud GPU classes | Access to the newly exposed controls may depend on the game and assigned hardware | A specific frame-generation multiplier; NVIDIA has not stated one in this announcement |
| Local RTX 50-series PC | Separate local DLSS 4.5 features delivered through NVIDIA App overrides | That local 6X Multi Frame Generation carries over to GeForce NOW |
How to find the controls in GeForce NOW
- Install or open the current GeForce NOW app on Windows, macOS, Chrome OS or SteamOS.
- Open the app’s Settings panel.
- Look for the DLSS 4.5 controls exposed for your account, device and supported games.
- Choose the priority that fits the session: Super Resolution for image clarity, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation for smoother motion and responsiveness, or Ray Reconstruction for supported ray-traced visuals.
- Start a compatible game and check the in-game result. If a control is missing, the title, device path, cloud rig or account entitlement may not support it.
NVIDIA has not published a single universal game-by-game list in the announcement, so the presence of a control in the app is the practical confirmation for a particular session.

Do you need an RTX graphics card?
No local RTX card is required to use the GeForce NOW implementation. Rendering takes place on NVIDIA’s cloud hardware, which is why a supported Windows, macOS, Chrome OS or SteamOS device can access the controls without an RTX PC. You still need a GeForce NOW account and a game that the service supports, and the selected feature must be available for that game and session.
Cloud DLSS 4.5 is not the same as local DLSS 4.5
NVIDIA’s local-PC announcements describe DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation as adjusting the number of generated frames during play to target a desired frame rate. They also describe a 6X local Multi Frame Generation mode and a second-generation transformer model for Super Resolution, delivered through NVIDIA App overrides on supported RTX hardware.

- 3.125-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
Those local specifications should not be transferred to GeForce NOW. The cloud announcement’s highest stated setting is up to 4X Dynamic Multi Frame Generation for Ultimate members on RTX 5080-powered rigs. It is a membership and server entitlement, not a claim about every local RTX configuration or every cloud session.
Where GeForce NOW can be used
The controls are exposed in the native app on Windows, macOS, Chrome OS and SteamOS. NVIDIA has also described expanded GeForce NOW access through Firefox, Steam ecosystem devices and additional Amazon Fire TV devices. On Fire TV, supported PC games can be played with a compatible controller. NVIDIA does not enumerate controller models in the announcement, so compatibility must be checked for the specific device and game.
Device support does not override game support. A title may run through GeForce NOW yet lack one or more DLSS 4.5 controls, and a setting shown in the app may produce a different result depending on the cloud GPU assigned to the session.
What to check when a setting is unavailable
- Confirm the tier: 4X Dynamic Multi Frame Generation is announced for Ultimate members on RTX 5080-powered cloud rigs.
- Check the game: DLSS options are title-dependent, and Ray Reconstruction requires ray-traced content.
- Check the session hardware: cloud GPU assignment affects which maximum options appear.
- Update the app: use the current GeForce NOW client for your operating system and reopen Settings.
- Verify the device path: Firefox, Steam ecosystem hardware and Fire TV have their own compatibility and controller requirements.
- Separate image quality from network issues: DLSS can change rendering and frame pacing, but it cannot eliminate problems caused by unstable bandwidth or high network latency.
What this means for GeForce NOW users
The update gives cloud players more control without requiring a local RTX upgrade. Super Resolution targets clarity, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation targets smoother motion and Ray Reconstruction targets ray-traced detail. The headline 4X mode is real but narrowly qualified: it belongs to Ultimate sessions on RTX 5080-powered cloud rigs running supported games. NVIDIA’s separate local 6X claim is not a GeForce NOW setting.
