NuSynth Technologies has raised ₹36.5 crore (approximately $4 million, according to contemporaneous coverage) in a seed round co-led by Avaana Capital and Shastra VC. The startup is building an R&D-led platform for process innovation in complex chemistry, initially targeting pharmaceuticals and electronics chemicals.
What NuSynth is building
NuSynth describes its business as a process-innovation platform rather than a conventional contract manufacturing operation. Its stated approach is to redesign chemical processes from first principles by examining three linked elements:

- the starting materials used in a synthesis;
- the reaction pathways that convert those materials into the desired product; and
- the economics of the process, including its potential to scale commercially.
The objective is to develop synthetic routes that can improve cost efficiency, yield, cycle time, safety, sustainability and scale-up prospects. Those are company-stated goals. The funding reports do not provide independently measured performance data, customer deployments or commercial process results.

Who led the seed round?
Avaana Capital and Shastra VC co-led the ₹36.5 crore seed investment. The reports reviewed do not disclose NuSynth’s valuation, dilution, investment instrument, complete cap table or how much each investor contributed.

The round was reported on 13 October 2026 by The Economic Times/ETtech and BioSpectrum India. The Economic Times report also gave an approximate US-dollar equivalent of $4 million; the rupee figure is the announced amount and is the more precise figure for readers in India.
Why process innovation matters in complex chemistry
In complex chemical manufacturing, changing the route to a molecule can affect far more than the headline reaction. Different starting materials may alter input costs and supply risk. A different reaction sequence can change yield, batch duration, waste generation, worker-safety requirements and the equipment needed for production. A route that works in a laboratory may still require substantial redesign before it can run reliably at commercial scale.

NuSynth says it is evaluating these factors together instead of treating process chemistry as an isolated laboratory exercise. Its focus is therefore on proprietary synthesis pathways that could be more efficient and scalable over time. The announcement does not establish that any particular pathway has already delivered those advantages.
Initial markets: pharmaceuticals and electronics chemicals
The company has named pharmaceuticals and electronics chemicals as its initial target sectors. Both areas can require tightly controlled chemistry, consistent quality and dependable scale-up. However, the coverage does not identify specific molecules, customers, production contracts, released products or commercial deployments.

How NuSynth plans to use the money
The announced funding is intended to support four broad priorities:
- R&D and technology capabilities: expanding the scientific and technical work needed to design and validate new processes.
- A portfolio of proprietary processes: creating an initial set of internally developed synthesis routes that the company can take toward commercial use.
- Scale-up capabilities: building the ability to move promising chemistry beyond early development and toward manufacturing conditions.
- Team growth: hiring additional people to support research, process development and commercialization.
No detailed allocation by rupee amount was provided, so the announcement does not indicate how much will go to hiring, laboratory work, equipment, pilot production or other individual categories.

What the founders and investors said
Poorvank Purohit, NuSynth’s co-founder and chief executive, framed the company’s work as a shift from established manufacturing expertise toward invention in the chemistry itself: “Over the last two decades, India has built significant strength at manufacturing established chemistry. We believe the next chapter will be defined by our ability to innovate on the underlying chemistry itself,” he said.
Shruti Srivastava, partner at Avaana Capital, said the next phase of growth in high-performance industrial chemistry would increasingly depend on originating proprietary synthesis pathways that are fundamentally more efficient and commercially scalable over time.

What is not yet known
The funding announcement leaves several standard startup details undisclosed:
- NuSynth’s post-money valuation and ownership structure;
- the legal form of the seed instrument and any debt component;
- named customers, purchase commitments or licensing agreements;
- specific chemical processes or molecules under development;
- independent measurements of yield, cost, cycle time, safety or sustainability improvements; and
- the company’s detailed headquarters information.
BioSpectrum India and The Economic Times describe NuSynth as Mysuru-based, while other same-day reports refer to Bengaluru. Without a company confirmation, it is safer to describe the startup as being associated with Karnataka rather than assert one city as its confirmed headquarters.
Why this seed round is significant
The round gives NuSynth capital to build capabilities before attempting to demonstrate a broad commercial footprint. For an industrial chemistry startup, the important milestones after financing are likely to be validated processes, reproducible scale-up, intellectual-property development and evidence that prospective customers can adopt the routes economically and safely. None of those outcomes is established by the financing announcement itself.
