The attachment connects by wire, and Nura documents compatibility with PS5, Xbox Series X, and PCs with the right audio ports. Its personalized sound is the main attraction; its microphone is serviceable rather than a match for a strong dedicated gaming boom. Because Nura stopped selling Nura-branded products in mid-2023, availability and the status of any used headset matter as much as the feature set.
Is the Nuraphone good for gaming?
It can suit someone who already owns a Nuraphone and values its individualized listening profile, or a buyer who specifically wants that sound for both music and games. It is a less straightforward choice if gaming chat quality, wireless convenience, or easy replacement is the priority.

The headset creates a personalized hearing profile in the Nura app by measuring otoacoustic emissions. Nura says setup takes about a minute and the headset can store up to three profiles. Its unusual in-ear/over-ear driver design and profile-based sound distinguish it from conventional gaming headsets that use a fixed tuning or EQ. That listening experience is separate from the quality of its voice microphone.
The Nuraphone has no practical gaming microphone without the add-on. Nura describes its Gaming Microphone as a separately sold accessory that enables voice chat over a 3.5 mm analog connection. Check current stock and seller details before relying on an accessory listing.

What the microphone does well—and where it falls short
PC Gamer’s 2021 review said the boom stayed secured with its hook and delivered loud, clear speech for teammates and Discord. The same review reported distortion and voice cut-outs on some Bluetooth phone calls; that call behavior is not the same as using the wired boom for game chat. In its testing, RTINGS judged the Nuraphone microphone weaker than a good dedicated gaming-headset boom. Taken together, the wired attachment can handle ordinary chat, but it is not the reason to choose this headset over a purpose-built gaming model.
How to connect the Gaming Microphone to PS5, Xbox, or a computer
The attachment has a flexible boom, a connector for the Nuraphone, a 3.5 mm analog plug, and an inline remote with volume and mute controls. Its hook fits over the ear-cup rim and locks into place. Expert Reviews reported a two-metre cable in its 2021 coverage.

Attach the boom to the headset
- Insert the microphone connector into the Nuraphone cable port.
- Place the hook over the rim of the ear cup and slide it forward until it locks.
- To remove the microphone, remove the hook from the rim before detaching its connector.
Nura’s setup guide illustrates the attachment and its inline controls. Use the remote for volume and mute; voice chat travels through the analog connection.

Nura lists PS5 and Xbox Series X compatibility in its Gaming Microphone FAQ. Plug the 3.5 mm connector into the headphone port on the controller. The microphone is wired to the controller, not connected over Bluetooth.

Connect to a PC or Mac
- One combined headset port: Plug the TRRS connector directly into the combined headphone-and-microphone jack, then choose the headset’s onboard input and output in the computer’s sound settings.
- Separate headphone and microphone jacks: Use the included 3.5 mm stereo Y splitter to separate the headset connection into the computer’s two ports.
- Extension cable: Use a TRRS extension plug with three black rings if you need the microphone signal to pass through it. A headphone-only extension can leave game audio working while the mic does not.
These connection details are covered in Nura’s setup guide and FAQ. If a computer does not detect the mic, check that the splitter is connected to the correct input and output jacks and that the headset input is selected.
What changes when the microphone is connected?
Nura says the headset’s touch controls and Nura app settings cannot be adjusted while the Gaming Microphone is attached. To change Social Mode, ANC, immersion, or touch-button settings, disconnect the mic, reconnect the headset to an iOS or Android device over Bluetooth, and make the changes in the app or on the headset. Reattach the boom when finished.

Battery life and charging during wired gaming
Nura estimates approximately 20 hours of wireless use and approximately three hours for a full charge. Those figures are from Nura’s current charging documentation; they are not a promise of the same runtime in every use pattern.

The Gaming Microphone does not charge the headset: it uses the Nuraphone’s existing battery. Nura also notes that analog, Lightning, and micro-USB cables are playback connections, not charging paths. Can you still buy a Nuraphone in 2026?
Nura’s current secondhand-purchase support page says the company ceased selling Nura-branded products in mid-2023, although some accessories may remain available. That means a Nuraphone listing in 2026 should be treated as used or otherwise independently sourced unless a seller can establish its status. Stock of accessories can change, so verify it directly rather than assuming the Gaming Microphone is available.
Before buying a used headset, ask for its serial number and contact Nura to confirm that the device is active, is not assigned to a NuraNow account, and remains eligible for any warranty coverage. Nura says NuraNow devices remain company property and should not be bought or sold.

Who should consider the Nuraphone for gaming?
- Consider it if you already own the headset, like its personalized listening profile, and mainly need wired chat on a supported controller or compatible computer.
- Look elsewhere if you need a higher-performing gaming microphone, want wireless voice chat while gaming, or expect to buy a new headset with straightforward current manufacturer sales and support.
- Inspect carefully if buying secondhand: confirm activation and account status with Nura, establish any remaining warranty, and check the accessory and seller’s legitimacy.
