For most buyers under ₹35,000, the OnePlus Nord 5 is the better all-round buy if performance, gaming, battery capacity, fast charging or longer stated Android-version support matters most. Choose the Nothing Phone (4a) instead if you specifically want a rear telephoto camera, Nothing’s distinctive Glyph design or Nothing OS. Both phones’ base 8GB/128GB variants were reported at ₹31,999 at launch, but those are not verified current prices.

The Nord 5 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3; the Phone (4a) uses the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. OnePlus describes the Nord’s chip as a Snapdragon 8-series platform and promotes high-frame-rate gaming. In 91mobiles’ 2026 comparison, its review testing recorded an AnTuTu score of 1,481,616 for the Nord 5 and 1,176,492 for the Phone (4a). The outlet also reported steadier sustained gaming and a smaller average temperature rise on the Nord 5 in its tests. Those results describe that outlet’s testing, not a guarantee of performance in every game, setting or unit.

If you play demanding games or want more performance headroom, the Nord 5 is the more convincing choice. The Phone (4a) may still suit everyday use, but the comparison’s results favor the Nord when workloads are intensive or sustained.
Rear cameras versus selfies: choose the focal length you need
The Phone (4a) has a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide and a 50MP telephoto camera. Mint’s launch coverage reports 3.5x optical zoom; Nothing’s product page lists up to 70x digital zoom. The Nord 5 has a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide, but no telephoto camera in the compared setup. 91mobiles describes the Phone (4a)’s telephoto lens as the more versatile rear-camera arrangement. That is a feature advantage, not proof that every image from it will be better; distant digital-zoom results can vary with light and subject distance.
For selfies and video calls, the Nord 5 has a 50MP front camera, compared with the Phone (4a)’s 32MP front camera. Resolution alone does not determine image quality, but it is the Nord’s clearer on-paper advantage for front-camera detail.

Display and design: higher refresh rate or brighter peak
91mobiles reports an adaptive 120Hz display on the Phone (4a) and a 144Hz display on the Nord 5. The Nord’s higher refresh-rate figure may appeal to gamers and people who value especially fluid scrolling. The Phone (4a) is reported as brighter at peak, which may matter for visibility, but peak-brightness figures are not directly equivalent to typical brightness outdoors. Consider the refresh rate and brightness claims in their source context rather than treating either number as a guarantee of everyday viewing.
The Phone (4a)’s transparent styling and Glyph Bar make it the more distinctive-looking option; the Nord 5’s design is more restrained. The comparison reports IP64 for the Phone (4a) and IP65 for the Nord 5. Neither rating means the phone is suitable for submersion.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Battery and charging: Nord 5 leads on stated capacity and speed
For India, Mint reports a 5,400mAh battery and 50W wired charging for the Phone (4a). OnePlus lists a 6,800mAh battery and 80W charging for the Nord 5 on its official product page. In 91mobiles’ review, the Nord 5 delivered around six hours of screen-on time and the Phone (4a) around five hours in the outlet’s reviewed use. Those are test-specific results, not a prediction for your usage; battery capacity and charging specifications alone do not establish how long a phone will last for an individual.
