The Nothing Phone (3a) has the stronger-looking camera and processor specifications on paper, while Samsung’s Galaxy A17 5G stands out for its documented durability features, microSD expansion and long-term software support. There is no reliable like-for-like price gap to quote without matching country, configuration and date: Samsung’s published prices use different price bases, and a current Nothing Phone (3a) price was not verified.

Nothing Phone (3a) vs Samsung Galaxy A17 5G: key specifications

The comparison below combines Samsung’s official India specifications and launch information with a secondary side-by-side listing for the Nothing Phone (3a). Nothing’s listed specifications should therefore be treated as reported figures, not independently verified here against an official regional product page. Configurations and availability can differ by market.

Which phone has the better performance?

The listed chips are Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 for the Nothing and Exynos 1330 for the Galaxy A17 5G. Samsung specifies that its Exynos chip uses a 5nm process. Those names alone do not establish which phone is faster in everyday use: no comparable benchmark results or performance testing are available here. If gaming or demanding apps are your priority, look for independent tests of the exact regional variants you plan to buy rather than treating the processor label as a measured result.

Which has the better cameras?

On paper, the Nothing has a higher-resolution set of rear cameras (50MP + 50MP + 8MP) and a 32MP front camera. The Galaxy A17 5G is listed with 50MP + 5MP + 2MP rear cameras and a 13MP front camera; Samsung specifically highlights OIS on its camera. Megapixel counts do not by themselves show which phone takes better photos, and no comparable camera test is available here. Results also depend on the camera hardware, image processing and shooting conditions.

Galaxy A17 5G: documented practical advantages

  • IP54 and front glass: Samsung lists an IP54 rating and Gorilla Glass Victus on the front. IP54 is not a promise that the phone is suitable for swimming or beach use. Samsung cautions that resistance can diminish with wear and care.
  • More room for files: Samsung says the A17 5G supports microSD cards up to 2TB, in addition to its built-in storage. Card availability and usable capacity may vary.
  • A stated update policy: Samsung India says the phone will receive six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates from its first global launch date. The same page notes that the policy may change.

Nothing Phone (3a): check regional details before buying

The cited specifications list RAM and storage options but do not establish the Nothing’s protection rating, expandable storage support or software-update commitment. Compare those points on the official Nothing page for your market before deciding; the available figures are not enough to claim that either phone is better on these measures.

What is the price difference?

A single current price difference cannot be calculated responsibly from the available figures: they refer to different markets, dates and price contexts, and there is no directly verified current Nothing Phone (3a) price for a specified market. Samsung’s India launch prices are historical launch figures, not guaranteed current selling prices. Its current India buying page displayed a different price when accessed on 4 October 2026. Samsung’s US MSRP is a separate geography and price basis.

For a useful local comparison, check the same country and purchase date, match RAM and storage tiers, and compare equivalent warranty coverage and seller status. Do not subtract a Samsung launch price from a current Nothing listing—or compare an Indian rupee price with a US dollar MSRP—as if the result were a current price gap.

Which one should you choose?

  • Consider the Nothing Phone (3a) if the reported camera configuration, 32MP selfie camera or Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is more appealing to you, and you can confirm the local variant, price and support details before buying.
  • Consider the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G if microSD expansion, Samsung’s published IP54 and front-glass details, or its stated OS and security update policy matter most to you.
  • Compare actual local listings if price is the deciding factor. Use matching storage/RAM variants and include warranty and seller differences; the published Samsung prices alone do not establish today’s advantage over Nothing.
