Nothing adds a dedicated 2× optical telephoto camera and specifies 50 W wired charging; Samsung lists the higher IP68 ingress rating and a longer software-upgrade commitment. Which phone has the more useful camera setup?
Phone (3a): optical telephoto for distant subjects
The Phone (3a) has a dedicated 50 MP telephoto camera with 2× optical zoom alongside its main and ultrawide cameras. That gives it a distinct hardware option for framing more distant subjects without relying only on a crop from the main camera.
Galaxy A37: macro camera instead
Samsung lists a 5 MP macro camera in place of a telephoto lens, alongside the 50 MP main and 8 MP ultrawide cameras. Choose between them based on whether telephoto framing or close-up macro capture matters more to you. The listed megapixel counts alone do not establish which phone takes better pictures, and no standardized head-to-head camera test is established here.

How do the screens, battery and charging compare?
Both have large FHD+ AMOLED-class displays with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Nothing lists a 6.77-inch flexible AMOLED panel with adaptive refresh; Samsung lists a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel. Manufacturer brightness claims are not directly comparable across their different testing methods.
Each phone is listed with a 5,000 mAh battery. Nothing specifies 50 W wired charging, while the cited Samsung pages do not state charging wattage. Equal battery capacity does not prove equal real-world battery life, and the available specifications do not support a charging-time comparison.
Does the Galaxy A37 offer better durability and longer support?
Ingress protection
The A37’s published IP68 rating is higher than the Phone (3a)’s IP64 rating. IP codes describe tested protection against dust and water ingress; they do not guarantee protection from every kind of liquid exposure, impact, wear or damage.

Software commitments
Samsung UK advertises up to six OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the A37. Nothing’s regional Phone (3a) page lists three Android updates and six years of security patches. Nothing says its six-year update period starts when the device first became available on the market. Support terms are vendor commitments, not a count of years remaining from the day you buy: check the launch and market-specific terms for the device you are considering.

Which one should you choose?
- Consider the Phone (3a) if a dedicated 2× optical telephoto camera or specified 50 W wired charging is a priority.
- Consider the Galaxy A37 if its higher IP68 rating or Samsung’s published longer OS-upgrade commitment matters more.
- Either could fit if your priorities are a large 120 Hz AMOLED-class display and a 5,000 mAh rated battery; the listed specifications do not settle real-world endurance or overall performance.
Do not infer a performance winner from the processor name on one page and clock speeds on another. The available specifications do not provide a standardized head-to-head benchmark.
