Where Phone (2) has the advantage
Chipset and demanding workloads
Nothing lists the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in Phone (2), compared with the Snapdragon 778G+ in Phone (1). Nothing says Phone (2) delivers an “80% improvement on performance over its predecessor” with that chipset. That is Nothing’s marketing claim, not an independent benchmark result; it does not specify how performance varies by app or workload. The chipset difference makes Phone (2) the stronger choice on paper for buyers prioritizing processing capability.

Price difference depends on region and configuration
Nothing’s official pages show different prices by market and configuration. These are page-listed prices, not a single global price comparison or a guarantee of current stock.
| Market and official page | Phone (1) | Phone (2) |
|---|---|---|
| European comparison page | €469 or €499, depending on comparison configuration; the Phone (1) product listing shows €469 | €699 |
| UK product pages | £399, £449 or £499 configurations; page showed sold out | £699 |
Sources: Nothing comparison page, Nothing Phone (2) product page and Nothing Phone (1) product page. The listed configurations and stock status can change. Compare the same market, storage configuration and condition before deciding whether the gap is worthwhile; a used Phone (1) price is not directly comparable with a new Phone (2) listing.
Software support and what the specifications cannot tell you
Both official product pages state three years of Android updates and four years of security patches every two months. The statement does not say how much support remains for a particular used device without knowing when its support period began.
The listed battery capacities and charging rates do not establish real-world endurance or charge time. The comparison specifications also do not prove camera superiority, better everyday smoothness or better value at a particular resale price. Those decisions require evidence beyond the published specifications and the actual price and condition available to you.
Quick Recap
Which one should you choose?
- Choose Phone (2) if the higher-tier listed chipset, larger adaptive display, higher listed IP rating, faster wired charging or 512 GB storage configuration matters most to you.
- Consider Phone (1) if you want the smaller, lighter model and find a suitable configuration at a price that makes sense for its age, condition and remaining support.
- For either phone, check current local stock and compare like-for-like storage and condition. The official page prices are regional snapshots, not a live global street-price guide.
